It is exactly as the title says. It's a dictionary of stitches (cable stitches to be precise). A mindblowing collection of cable patterns all in one place. I had been searching for a guide like this. It's so nice to have everything in one book. And it's so simple to use. Each cable pattern has a name, a color photo of the finished product, and the pattern written both in long hand and chart form. So whichever method of pattern reading you prefer this book has you covered. It just lists the cable pattern so you don't have to dig through complicated sweater patterns just to pick out the section of the cable you're trying to replicate. And unlike other stitch glossaries the pictures are in color. It has a wide variety of basic cables and intricate woven/braided cables so there really is something in here for everyone. I wish I had found this book sooner! Vogue is a trusted pattern publisher and so far I haven't found any mistakes. I will definitely consider buying the other books in this series.
