It works best with purple hull or black-eyed peas, but can also be utilized for other types of peas and beans as long as they are easily hand shelled. It comes with a hand crank or may be attached to a light hand-held drill (always run on the lowest speed and torque setting). Make sure to follow all of the instructions for this little guy for best results. NOTE: Most mechanical shellers will result in a few smashed peas! The Gardener's Hollow Leg Jr is has a 1 gallon capacity (think mild jug) and the included strap will fit anywhere from a child's waist up to an adult will a girth of about 52".
