Review: Easy to use - The Deeper Start is a basic fish finder that is much easier to use, and more dependable for me than the competitors model. The application used seems much less "fussy" and prone to problems than my previous fish finder. It will tell you how deep the water is, whether or not fish are found in the area, their relative size, the contour of the bottom, and the presence of weeds. It does not have a "raw view", but I never used that anyway. It is small, the battery charges up quickly, and I've never come close to using up all the battery power while on the water. My sole minor complaint is that it measures depth from the tops of the weeds. In a very weedy lake, this means you will get some messages saying "water too deep or too shallow", at which time it stops working until you pass to an area where the weeds are further from the surface. I would buy this finder again and find it quite functional, if not packed full of options.
Review: It works as advertised - I was reluctant to buy it due to the price being affordable. I just kept waiting for something to go wrong, not work, or not connect. I have to say I am thankful that I bought it. It works and is a lot of fun. There were days we just went to map out the lake and never even fished! I almost lost it once as my line broke on the cast!!! Ouch! But with some luck and patience I was able to recover it. Lesson learned. I use braided line now lol!

**Q: I fish in a pond in Florida with lots of turtles. Would the finder show these as fish?**
A: Thanks for the question! Due to air-bladders, fishes provide a slightly different kind of ultra-sound return compared to other underwater objects, so you shouldn't have any issues - Deeper is smart enough to distinguish what kind of sonar return is a fish or not.

**Q: It says it connects through WiFi. What if there isn't WiFi available? Do I need an internet connection to use this?**
A: You don’t need a Wi-Fi internet connection or mobile data at your fishing spot! The Deeper device has an internal Wi-Fi access point that you can connect on your smartphone or tablet. All you have to do is to turn on Wi-Fi on your smartphone and connect to Deeper access point. You can connect your Deeper device in any place of the world - even the rain-forest of Amazon.

**Q: Do you guys have an answer for all the reviews saying it has limited range? What would cause this issue?**
A: Hi there, we do. The maximum connection range that the Deeper Start can achieve is 165 ft. However, the range can be reduced if your smartphone or tablet has a weak Wi-Fi antenna.

**Q: Can I attach a separate line with a hook onto the deeper?**
A: I don't see why not, however you would end up dragging the deeper finder under water to reel in a fish.  I don't think it is designed for that, but you could try.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Deeper START is fun to use.

I have a local lake that I bank fish and I had no real idea of depth and structure. I decided to give this Deeper START a shot and see what it could do. This device is about idiot proof. The instructions are clear and concise, and it worked immediately with my first cast into the water. I have had no issue with connectivity except under one condition - windy, choppy water. If it is still and just bobbing up and down over the chop you will lose connectivity. When I started reeling it in slowly it maintained connection. As for accuracy, I think the depth readings are vegetation readings are accurate and I use that knowledge to pick lures etc. As for finding fish I think the jury is still out (but i have only used it a handful of times). The device marks fish of course but I have not actually caught anything based on the markings. For the price I think this is a fun gadget to own. I could spend all day just throwing it out and reeling it in just to see what's underwater. For just a simple bank fisherman like me it gets the job done.
