Rail Mount Bike and Ladder Lift for Your Garage or Workshop Holds up to 75 Pounds No Mounting Board Needed

I bought two of these to hang up our bikes in the garage because I liked the idea of being able to lower them down with a pulley. The installation of the first one took about 45 minutes but the second one only took15 once I knew what to do. The locking mechanism works great and the quality seems decent. The only issue I had were the screws. I broke 4 screws drilling them in to the 2x4 at which point I used my own.A few tips on the install as the directions are pretty bare:1. Use your own screws, don't use the ones that come with the equipment.2. Decide where you want the bike to settle to the ground first then center the bracket above it on the ceiling.3. You should place the back tire on the side where the latch is so the handle bar is not in the way.4. To life and lower the bike, you should stand in the middle of the bike (by the seat) and pull the rope towards the middle of the bike. This will release the latch and allow for smooth raising and lowering.The last piece of advice is how to put the cord through the latch. I had to youtube a video to see how but the rope goes through the hold and under the lever that lifts. The rest is easy.Good luck and enjoy, this was a nice buy.

Needed to clear my kids' bikes from the garage floor. So bought two of these based on reviews. I can definitely say that I am very pleased with this product. I considered others which had separate pulley assemblies for front and back of the bike. But I like the fact that this system has the rails that allows you to adjust the bike after installation. My son has a 24" mountain bike and my daughter has a 16" kids bike. The pulleys adjust easily for both. Plus when my kids grow up for bigger bikes it is just a matter of sliding the pulleys on the rail to fit a bigger bike. Great solution, Plus I like the fact that you can mount this either along the ceiling stud or across multiple studs.I mounted both along the studs. Installation was pretty straightforward. 5 screws for the aluminum rack and the rest of the parts slide on. Allen wrench for tightening the pulley positioners is included. So just needed a ladder, power drill with bit for pilot holes and standard philips head bit, a pencil to mark the ceiling and a stud finder (things that most home owners should always have around IMHO). Instructions were clear except it was not outlined how the rope should feed through the locking mechanism. I had to take a close look at the pictures on the outside of the box to figure that out.I love that the rope automatically locks when you raise it. So you don't need to keep holding on while you lift. Seems to hold the bike just fine all by itself. Although I would still secure it with the included wall cleat just in case. The rope length is very generous. My garage is probably 10 feet tall. There seems to be enough rope for garages twice as tall. Only issue I have is where to store the rest of the loose rope after anchoring to the wall cleat.Lifting is pretty easy. But with a heavier bike, it is still some work. The rope has some stretchiness to it. So at first it feels like the rope is too slim. But once you get use to that it is fine. Just remember to use hand-over-hand to lower the bike to avoid rope burn.I am very happy with this bike hanger. It is much easier to use than the bike hooks that I have for my own bike (the ones that hang on the wheels with the bike upside-down). Glad that I bought these.

Hung 4 in the garage last night. Looks nice so far and I was able to get the family bikes and strollers off of the garage floor. Will continue to monitor the reliability of these after several uses over the coming months.Pros:Easy to InstallGood FunctionalityEconomicalDurable, rubber-coated hoist hooksEven comes with the cleats to tie off the excess ropeCons - a verification of many other reviews(1) Cheap, chintzy rail mounting screws. For some reason the unit was designed with minimal clearance between the inside of the rail and the top of the pulley housings (~1/8") so you are limited to what type of screw to use to mount the rail to the ceiling joists. Even after reading all the warnings in the previous reviews, I did try using the screws supplied with the unit. But even with a pre-drilled pilot hole and my impact driver set low and being ever so careful to just slowly nudge the screws into my ceiling joists, I still spun off the heads on several of the screws. These cheap screws aren't even as rugged as deck or dry wall screws which themselves would not be the correct fasteners to use in this application. Unfortunately because there is such little clearance between the pulley housings and rail you cannot use hex-head lag bolts. I wound up using larger, stronger wood screws and they worked fine. About the only thing the included fasteners were good for was mounting the cleats to secure the excess rope.(2) Really cheap rope included. Frayed excessively when hoisting the bike for the first time. Cannot imagine what the rope would like after many hoists. I wound up using military grade paracord rated for the proper weight limit which seems about 100x stronger and more durable. $10 for 50' at my local hardware store.So the manufacturer, in an effort to reduce cost and squeeze every little fraction of a penny out of the unit cost, passes it on to the consumer. They could have saved even more money had they just not included the screws and given a recommendation in the assembly instructions for what type to use. I wasted my time trying to use them and had to rework the first unit as a result. For something that will be responsible for hanging up to 75lbs of expensive bikes and strollers above people's heads, I would have paid more for a safer product.

Update 8/22/18I now have 4 of these in my garage. They all work great. I must admit however that I now agree with the reviews that stated the mounting screws are soft. They are! I had 3 screw heads snap off and I have a drill with torque control. Do yourself a favor and use galvanized wood screws. Other than that I’m really pleased with it.This is an excellent bike hoist and works very well. It was easy to install (took all of 15 minutes), directions were straight forward and clear. Having the aluminum rail with the ability to adjust the position of the 2 pulley hooks makes a difference when you have different bike sizes and distances between the handlebar and the saddle, and gives you flexibility in locating the right place for it with respect to your joist locations. I have 2 of these installed in my garage for my road bike and mountain bike. The ease and speed with which I can lower and raise the bike makes is so much nicer than other systems I have tried both on the ceiling and the wall. It's great to have the bikes off the floor of my garage where I keep 2 cars.I can't agree with some of the negative comments. Some say the mounting screws are "soft?" I found no such problem and I have done much work with wood screws over the years. First, you have to screw these into studs. Don't even think about using any kind of drywall anchors as you are putting some amount of pulling force on the ceiling as you raise the bike, whether a light racing cycle or something heavier. Secondly, the supplied screws are plenty long and thick. I've had one of my hoists for well over a year and raise and lower the bike multiple times per week. Haven't had any issue at all and the rail is as securely fastened to the ceiling as it was the day I installed it. The next negative comment I read was the thickness of the rope. The rope is plenty thick and strong. I mean you can't design something like this with a 1/2" or thicker rope. Then there was the comment about the difficulty in threading the rope through the pulleys and the locking mechanism. This is not rocket science and was really no problem. If you follow the directions and attach to the eye hook first, you should have no problem whatsoever. The rope is very long, and needs to be and does take some time to wrap and unwrap on the cleat, but that is a very minor issue. You could probably get away with not wrapping the extra rope around the cleat at all as the locking mechanism works very well, just like the mechanism on horizontal blinds, but why take a chance. It's an extra safety precaution. I actually figured out how much rope I needed once the bike was completely lowered, added a little extra and then cut some of it off (even though it recommends not to). Lastly, I read one stating you have to supply a good amount of force to raise the bike. I mean c'mon. You're going to have to use some amount of force to raise any bike no matter what the weight, and If you have a 50 lb. monster, well...Finally, the price was great for such a high quality device with a lifetime warranty. Highly recommend for those looking to get their bikes off the floor of their garage.

I read most of the reviews that were posted about this bike hoist before I ordered. Install went well and the bike was hanging almost 12 feet in the air in about 10 - 15 minutes. I would rate myself as advanced when it comes to my abilities with tools. I used a cordless impact drill, a drill bit (to make a new hole in the aluminum frame - I'll get to that in a minute), 4 of my own screws, the supplied allen wrench, and a ladder. That's it.That being said, here's a few of my thoughts that you may find interesting:The holes in the aluminum frame are drilled for standard studs. For whatever reason, my ceiling studs aren't spaced with the standard widths so I had to drill a hole of my own. Took a second but cost me an up and down on the ladder. I agree with others, putting the rope up after the entire setup is mounted to the ceiling is a pain in the butt. If you do, try threading the rope through the pulleys starting at the brake side as going this direction is the easiest (I went the other way). I ditched the screws in favor of some standard wood screws I had per recommendations here. Didn't even try theirs however I did notice they're made from cheap material - thanks all, that saved me a trip up the ladder! I also agree with others that the rope isn't perfect however it seems to work quite well for the moment. I do agree that at some point it will be necessary to upgrade. Some other bike hoists seem to have poorly designed hooks however this setup seemed perfect. If you lift and lower the bike slowly, you'll never jump the hooks unless you have a seat that doesn't have a lip. My bike is a Gary Fisher mountain bike and it's firmly on the hooks when it's in the air.All in all, I'd say that this is probably the best thing I've ever done in the garage when it comes to organization. I have ordered 3 more (one for each of our bikes including our Weehoo - which is a tow-behind kid thingy). Even the Weehoo was easily mounted to the ceiling once I was able to find it's balance center.

I have 2 Racor Pro ABL-1R's and 2 of these. I'd bet the same Chinese factory makes both brands. The similarities are uncanny. These, however, are 1/2 the price of the Racor Pro ABL's and every piece in the box is the same in every way!Some have complained about the screws for mounting and the directions.Regarding the directions:Come on -- there's 3 screws and 2 pulley wheel brackets. Do you really need a 10 page installation thesis for that?Regarding the mounting screws:They're short and flimsy (both valid points) -- but once again, you just saved yourself 20 bucks. Go crazy and treat yourself to some beefier screws. You'll feel even better about making this purchase because you not only saved $18 over the Racor's (because the better screws will set you back 2 dollars) - but you now have a more trustworthy, solid installation to the ceiling than those $40 Racor's. My sanity is worth that much. I have kids and I don't want to have to worry about a bike falling on my child as they're doing something with the product they shouldn't be and the screws came loose (example: I'm sure I'll catch one of them hanging on the cord one day).All and all, this is a great product--does what it says and does it well. Might benefit from a slight redesign to the rail to accommodate screws or bolts with a thicker head (take one of the supplied screws, insert it through the hole in the rail and slide one of the brackets over where the screw is, and you'll see what I mean). Barring that, this is a perfect solution that holds the bike up and out of the way. It's well suited to hold many other things as well. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea of slapping a different brand name to the same product and quietly price pointing it at half the price of Racor.

I believe this is my first Amazon review, I don’t knock on products often.I will start by giving some background: I’ve remodeled a home, built a pantry of IKEA cabinets, and trained as a rope rescue technician; I know how to read directions, put things together and have a damn good understanding of ropes, pulleys and load capturing devices.Immediately after opening the package I was excited about this purchase, the aluminum channel and fixed pulleys were well made. Everything else in this package turned out to be junk. Install was not an issue and went pretty quick..then the issues began. Once my bike was up in the air I couldn’t get it down. The system would not release, I scoured the directions again, went to the Amazon page to look at pictures and other reviews to ensure I had set system up correctly. Which it was. The only way I could lower my bike was using a ladder to manually release the friction brake built into the system. Found another review which showed putting the rope behind the bar built into the fixed pulley, this worked great…until I lowered the system again and the entire outside sheath of the rope frayed and snapped.The rope is complete junk, the dynamic pulleys are too wide so the rope can travel laterally getting dislodged, the hooks were too small for my mtn bike handle bars and the system as a whole would be 100x better if 10 more dollars were spent on a legit piece of rope and dynamic pulleys that worked.Save your money and make your own, I tried to take the easy route and it didn’t work out. I purchased enough ceiling pulleys and regular pulleys to use on all 4 of my families bikes for the price of this system. Don’t do it. Google how to DIY instead.

This is a good quality bike lift which looks nice and should work well to hoist my bicycles. It was sturdy and fairly easy to install, except for the three problems noted below:1 - The channel has 5 predrilled holes with both 16 inch and 12 inch spacings, which should work well for standard ceiling joist spacing. The problem I found is that joist spacings are not always exactly 16 inches, and there is not always a joist where you want to install the hoist. That means there is a good possibility that you will need to drill additional holes in the channel to secure it to the ceiling. Which leads to the second problem.2 - The two pulley blocks slide into the channel after it is installed on the ceiling. But the fit is pretty tight, so if the screws mounting the channel to the ceiling are not exactly flush with the channel, the pulley blocks will contact the screw heads and the pulley blocks will not slide easily. In both hoists we installed that turned out to be the case and we had to do some hammering to get the pulley blocks to the right place in the channel. That isn't that big a problem, but makes it difficult to move the pulley blocks after they have been installed.3 - The instructions include pretty good illustrations of where all the bits and pieces to to install it correctly, except for one. There is no illustration or instructions on how to thread the rope through the latch that locks the rope and keeps the rope from slipping. The mechanism is not intuitive and if you do it wrong the locking latch will not work or work poorly. It took me a few tries to get it to work correctly. The method I found was to thread the rope over the pulley, then down to curve around the hinge pin in the locking mechanism, and then through the little hole on the end of the mechanism. This method caused the latch to work correctly for me. There may be other ways, but the other ways I tried caused the rope to bind and fray, and the locking mechanism to slip. YMMV

No trajo instructivo pero se puede encontrar el pdf si lees las reseñas en inglés.Fuera de eso. Es un excelente producto. Se monta muy faciles los ganchos y no se ve de mala calidad ningun componente.El servicio de entrega llego mas rápido de lo esperado.En general cumple con su cometido y su precio es ideal.

The bike hanger was easy to install, made of quality materials (although I did change the screws, as recommended by others). The lift system works really good, making it easy to get the bike very close to the ceiling in the garage. I would certainly recommend this product.
