Workbook for Organic Synthesis: The Disconnection Approach, 2nd Edition

Will make you fluent with organic chemistry when bought with the textbook. Also will need a more in depth book like Clayden organic chemistry. This has helped me become much more familiar with mechanisms and disconnections. Organic isn't about memorising everything, but understanding why things happen and why the mechanisms/reactions go the way they do. With that understanding, more complex problems and things you haven't seen before, can be broken down into simpler problems and become a lot easier to solve. This will give you the training to see the patterns and wonderful approaches to making molecules from simple readily available starting materials.

Great book that thoroughly yet concisely explains the topic in a readable manner.

This is an excellent update on a great book. Graphics are a huge improvement over the last edition, the book is more compact, more readable and lighter. All exemples are numbered, which is very useful when using a book like this. This is a must for everybody who wants to learn about organic synthesis and retrosynthesis in particular.

This book is the accompaniment to retrosynthesis the disconnection approach and contains hundreds of practice problems to help with learning retrosynthetic analysis. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the first copy I ordered arrived badly damaged (the cover and pages were bent like the book had been folded), the second copy arrived with the pages and cover being warped as though the book was kept somewhere damp.

i really had no desire to purchase this book at first, but hindsight has made me thankful, this is a great sidekick to the disconnection approach

Prendi in considerazione quanto segue: Perché hai dato questa valutazione? è un ottimo testo. l'ho utilizzato in concomitanza con lo stesso libro che prevede solamente la teoria. Usati insieme sono molto utili in quanto danno molti esempi e aiutano la comprensione di ogni esercizio. ottimo anche perché vi sono riportate tutte le soluzioni spiegate di ogni singolo esercizio. PRO: soluzioni spiegate CONTRO: è completamente scritto in inglese. anche se di facile comprensione. lo consiglio a coloro che devono sostenere un esame di chimica organica che prevede la parte di retrosintesi.
