We’ve already put it through heavy rain and strong wind, and it held up beautifully without any issues. We purchased the 9x11 size, and it’s been perfect for our space. Love this umbrella. We have a fairly large uncovered patio, and I was looking for something to provide some nice shade. This umbrella does exactly that. Love the look, and super easy to crank up and down.

I am updating my review because of the superb customer service I received after purchasing this umbrella. First, I highly recommend this to anyone who needs shade. After I purchased mine, a family member purchased one. We are thrilled with our products. For me it was the scorching sun on the deck, impossible to sit out there. I lost my giant maple tree to a wind storm this Spring, and that was the shade for our 30 years here. The deck was built around that tree. I had to do something to replace the shade. This umbrella is very high-end looking. It's easy to install, and easy to operate. I am 5 foot 3 and weigh 115 lbs., and I have no problem using the levers to open and close the umbrella. And stepping on the peddle to turn it 360°, no problem. It works so smoothly. I purchased a steel plate and had it bolted right to the tree stump in the deck. A point I want to make about this product is that I don't know why but there were 2 dents in the pole when we erected it. I gave it a 3 as a review, because it was damaged, and the seller immediately contacted me and asked if he could help. I sent pictures and was immediately shipped a new umbrella. I was treated with respect, and he cared about his reputation and customer satisfaction. This is so rare. I highly recommend working with this seller whenever you can. Sometimes to spend that much money makes a person nervous. What am I going to get, is it going to be flimsy, and am I going to have a fight on my hands to get what I want and get what I paid for? Well, you don't have to worry with this seller. You are protected by excellent customer service until you are happy with your purchase.

I've tried to figure out for some time now how to best provide late afternoon shade for two chairs on my deck, which faces due west. Once I finally found the right product (this one) I had to determine the best way to mount it securely. Purple Leaf provides a few options, but you have to dig around a bit to find them. I found the "standard" way the least palatable. By the way, if you are wondering if Purple Leaf is a great company with great products, wonder no more; they are. I had a number of interactions with them as I tried to figure out the best solution for my mounting and they were responsive and helpful. My deck joists are 16" on center apart. Additionally, I cannot get access underneath my deck and, since it's a composite deck with "invisible" clips that hold my deck down, removing a portion of the deck to get access to construct a box to attach this base to wasn't an option. So I made a 17" x 17" frame out of treated lumber, which I attached to my joists using 5.5" lag screws; then, I painted the Purple Leaf plate and my frame the same color. I used the 16 mounting screws with 1.25" stainless lag screws to bolt the steel plate to the frame I made. Some have simply used the 16 holes to screw the place to the deck but, given that my deck is composite, not wood, I didn't trust that. And the big "X" base that comes witht the umbrella, held down with either the water/sand weight, sand bags, patio blocks or the life would not have been to my liking. If you have a wooden deck of pressure treated lumber, you're probably OK just screwing the base to the deck. Time will tell if this holds up, but I have a feeling it's not going anywhere since I really over-engineered this solution. (This is added two years later as I sit on my deck. This umbrella has held up remarkably well. I usually move it to the store position and cover it each evening. I also store my umbrella in my garage over the winter). Very, very happy with my purchase. The umbrella is well-constructed and the provided hardware is top-notch. While it's recommended to have two people for the final mounting, I was able to handle it just fine by myself at 67 years of age.

Beautiful umbrella. Covers our entire table and chairs. Unfortunately the base is separate but necessary. We also had to buy a separate cover. Haven’t used a lot yet. Waiting for warmer days. Fairly easy to put together. You might need another person to help you though. Read the instructions.

This umbrella is perfect. Well made and sturdy. I purchased the rolling stand and it's great.

We enjoy the coverage that it gives us on our patio. We can adjust the direction of the umbrella. We had a few storms, and it seems to be stable. No leaks. So far, so good. I think this was a good buy.
