One busy morning in October I let them out to potty and they had a surprise encounter with a skunk and promptly ran back inside bringing in the natural chemical weapon of skunk spray with them. It was a a hard lesson learned . My initial solution was to go out on the deck with a spot light and making loud comments like โ I hope there arenโt any animals out here because Iโm fixin to let the dogs out!โ I had read skunks, Possums and groundhogs would be put off by light. I got the idea to use these motion detector solar lights to scare off animals and also alert us if an animal was in our back yard before releasing the hounds. This has worked wonderfully. We have also added some more by our downstairs patio. Highly recommend! Review: Nice and Bright with Remote - Nice and bright with remote. Real easy to install. Bought last year and still work well. The only issue I have is I thought that I could turn them on with the remote and would stay on until turned off. This feature is not working or I'm doing something wrong, I bought 4 of them for around the house and none will stay on. I placed one over my BBQer for this reason so I can BBQ in the dark over the winter months when it gets dark early, I have to keep moving around or keep pressing the on button to keep the light on. Still very happy with them as motion detectors.

Fantastic little lights. Always bright and great motion detection

Chincy and flimsy
The lighting is awesome but the feel of them is unimpressive. They feel very cheap. If they leak water in from rain it wonโt surprise me. I unfortunately will keep because of the brightness but I will be putting a sealant around edges in hopes of protecting them

The best that I ever bought
These are the best. They are bright, they turn on when something approaches them and the battery life is long.

Such a pain to install
These lights are terrible to install. You can't install them without taking out a tiny cotter pin type screw. They're floppy and I'm pretty sure a mild wind will knock some of the panels off leaving them to dangle by power cords. That said, the panels are very bright and in that regard I approve. However, it doesn't matter if even my engineer buddy can't get the stupid things mounted. We literally set them aside because we were too annoyed to keep trying. We'll try again tomorrow and consider improvised solutions. The brightness is worth a bit of improv. Edit: The improv went well and the lights are up. We went with zip ties to a chain link fence. Light functions well once it's in place. Good run time. The joints are still a bit too loose, but the multi direction thing is an asset. I want to encourage the creators to make some improvements, because there is potential here.

Excellent product
Quality product, remotes work very well distance over 20 feet with no problems.

Very bright lights, efficient charging, easy to install. Instructions could be better.
I like these lights. They are very bright, and the motion sensitivity is good in my opinion (I would prefer the motion detection to go just a bit farther out, but that's probably being kind of picky). They also have 3 modes (turns on for 20 seconds upon detection of motion, then turns off; turns on dimly in the dark, then illuminates brightly for 20 seconds upon detection of motion before returning to dim light; and always on when it is dark outside). It also comes with a remote to toggle among these modes and to adjust the brightness across 3 settings (but see my later point regarding the instructions). I do not agree with the review I saw that said these are hard to install. They are not hard to install at all. I had these installed in minutes at most (maybe the reviewer had an earlier model). Additionally, depending on your needs, you can either screw in the base or use zip ties through the base (which is what I did for one of these units). The manufacturer does not recommend the zip tie method of installation, but I did it with great success, and it allowed me to install a unit where installation would otherwise not be possible. Although you'll obviously need to size things up for yourself, I did a zip tie at the bottom of the base, then inserted the unit into the base, then did another zip tie at the top of the base. Cons of these lights include two main things: (1) The solar panel being physically attached to the lights, which limits where you can install these. For example, I have other solar lights where the solar panel is detached from the lights themselves, and then the solar panel has a cord running to the lights to power them. This allows many more installation options (e.g., under an awning or overhang). (2) The instructions are not the greatest. Most of this is pretty self-explanatory and doesn't need instructions, but the part that I didn't like was the instructions not making it clear you have to physically press the button on the back of the unit before it is on in a way that will respond to the remote. The instructions make it seem like you could use either the physical button or the remote. This would benefit from a review and rewrite in my opinion. On a more minor note, as I mentioned above, I would have favored the motion detection going a bit further out, but that's not a huge deal, and to be clear, the motion detection has a good distance. It's not like you have to be right up on these to get the lights to turn on. In summary: These are nice lights, they function as advertised, are easy to install, and have good motion detection and options. Areas for improvement include the element of the instructions as noted above and considering making the solar panel detached from the lights. But all things considered, this is a very good product.
