The slicer is designed to adjust from paper-thin up to around 12mm (1.2cm), making it versatile for a range of foods. It has a 150W motor which is more than capable for regular slicing of cooked meats, cheese and bread. The Slicer also has a built-in blade sharpener that is a really useful as it helps keep performance consistent without needing to remove the blade. It is definately a machine built for commercial frequent use rather than a domestic kitchen with occasional use. I think one thing to bear in mind is that this slicer is a heavy item and takes up a fair amount of counter space. Cleaning also takes a little longer than with smaller domestic slicers, as there are more parts around the blade that need careful attention. Review: Sturdy Build, but Disappointing Blade Quality and Sharpener Issues - I had high hopes for this Hakka 10-inch slicer given its commercial branding, but my experience out of the box was frustrating. My first piece of advice to anyone buying this: check the blade immediately upon arrival. Mine arrived with visible damage to the edge. I can’t be certain if this happened during a rough delivery or if it was a manufacturing defect, but it certainly wasn't "ready to use." I attempted to fix the edge using the built-in sharpener. It has two settings (rough and smooth stones) that you flip over to use. Unfortunately, only one of the stones actually made contact with the blade. The other setting didn't seem to touch the metal at all, making it impossible to get a proper, even edge. The Positives: Build Quality: The machine itself feels very sturdy and heavy-duty. Smooth Operation: The sliding carriage moves very smoothly, which is usually a sign of a well-made slicers. The Performance: Because of the blade issues, it didn't perform as expected. After the first few slices, it definitely did not "cut like butter." It struggled to get through the meat cleanly, likely due to that initial damage and the faulty sharpening stones. Verdict: It has the bones of a good machine, but the quality control on the blade and the alignment of the sharpener let it down. If you get a perfect blade, it’s probably great, but be prepared to inspect it closely!
