When hot flashes hit, I started looking for natural solutions. I'd heard of yam cream, but was slightly skeptical. An internet search led to Indian Meadows. I liked that the product was organic, made in the U.S., and appeared to be more than a random person sticking a generic label on a pre-made product. Results will vary depending on your personal hormone makeup and I saw comments that it could take several weeks, but for me it was just a couple days before hot flashes disappeared. I started with a 1/4 of a tsp. and have increased as time has gone on and hormones have changed. I started off applying just at night and at the sites they recommended. I have since seen that Indian Meadows has changed their directions some and I have adapted what I'm doing based on ideas from similar products. Know that there isn't a right or wrong like with a prescription medication. It is strong enough, however, to affect your cycle (at least mine) so consider that when deciding timing, dosage, and placement. There are reviews about dented lids and leaking. I have had a few dented lids over time but everything was still sealed well. I do make sure that the Amazon seller is Indian Meadows directly and not a third party. I did order several jars at one point and by the last jar there were little crystals in the jar. I experience this with my own homemade creams when they sit for a while so it didn't concern me.

I like that this product has mostly organic ingredients, that’s very important to me. I used to have extremely bad night sweats two weeks leading up to my period, sometimes needing to change my shirt/pillow case twice a night. I’m barely 34 and this had been going on for a few years. I would also get very irritable and just plain crazy due to hormonal imbalances, from ovulation to period I was a crying, emotional mess! Two out of four weeks a month I was Dr. Jekyl, hormones were disrupting my life! I had heard about wild yam root cream and knew I had to try something, after researching many brands I tried this one November 2017. When I first started using this cream my night sweats initially got worse, but my mood had huge improvement right away. I knew things might get worse before they got better, balancing hormones does NOT happen in a few cycles, but after about 4 months the night sweats totally went away! My mood improved significantly within the first month, I felt happier and more calm, so while the night sweats were still happening, it was worth it to not feel so crazy. I did my research and learned that synthetic progesterone tells your body that it does not need to make its own progesterone anymore, which can make you dependent on synthetic progesterone, but that is not the case with wild yam root cream because it’s a natural progesterone, not man made. Progesterone is the happy hormone, a woman is supposed to feel happiest the week before her period because that is when progesterone should be at its highest, I have not felt happy in years until I started using this cream and I’m HAPPY to say I feel HAPPY again! I even stopped using this cream for a few months due to moving and packing it away and forgetting where I packed it, during that time my night sweats have not returned. What I’ve learned doing research on wild yam root creams is that you apply the cream starting at ovulation until your cycle and apply it to the tender parts of the skin/body ie. inner thighs, inner arms, lower abdomen, and change location each time you apply. This has worked well for me, I hope y’all get great results with this cream too!

Been using this for two months and until I was just sitting here scrolling through catching up on my reviews I just realized I hardly get hot flashes anymore. How wonderful to be able to forget that you used to get them! I started with hot flashes -severe ones- about 1 1/2 years ago. The whole nine yards -sweating at night, waking up sweating in my sheets, unable to sleep the whole night through. Daytime ones as well were just as bad. Showering twice a day just wasn’t enough. I seriously was on the verge of depression. When the hot flashes would come —that would be about every 1/2 hour— they would even make me feel nauseous. Anyhow, I hardly even notice having them now. So yes a true blessing. Barbara Oniell a homeopath from Australia -look her up on You Tube- she has many natural remedies and she explains why they work. She recommended a different brand that I couldn’t find but this one seemed closest and I’m glad I picked it. Watch her videos on hormones and why birth control (the pill, etc) years ago messed up most women’s ratios of progesterone and estrogen balance. All I can say is I had tried many other herbs etc that didn’t make much difference but th is did. It is not overnight. I’ve been taking it for two month and Barbara did say for some it may take a year. The dosage is just enough to help your body get back in balance. Avoid if possible the prescription progesterone as she explains in her lectures that the dosage is thousands time more than what your body should have if you hope for it to learn to make its own again. UPDATE: Jan 10th 2021 -I started mentration today. Though I completed menopause as my periods ended November 2019. I got it only once after that lightly March 2020. Now Jan 2021 after using this product for 2 1/2 months started again. Super happy as I am only 49 yrs old today. Hope this is helpful. Will try to remember to update next month to see if it becomes a regular thing or just a fluke.

My jar lid did come dented and I'm sure that's was the shipping's fault but I accepted the package out of sheer desperation. I am doing pellet therapy (hormone replacement therapy). I am on my third pellet and can tell when the medication is wearing out because the skin on my hands (and neck) will become dry, itchy to the point where it burns and flakes and is very uncomfortable. Within a day or so of getting this cream, my hands were not as painful or itchy. (If I didn't start using this cream, I am sure the itching would have progressed to my neck where I then start wearing turtlenecks because it looks so bad) I am into my second day of using it and my hands are looking better already. I was also noticing that I was being a lot more moody but that is also dependent on how well I sleep and if I eat and drink health food and drink. It has a light, pleasant smell, reminds me of cantaloupe. Its texture is light and creamy. This will be a staple in my menopause arsenal! We don't have to suffer through menopause ladies!!

Did they change the formula? I have been purchasing this on Amazon and it has been wonderful. I decided to purchase my last jar directly from the maker and the label was slightly different. I've been using it for a couple weeks and it's not working at all. I am hot all the time and not sleeping well. I will not repurchase it unless it is the old formula.
