Review: Warm and deeply felt story - This is a deceptively simple story of a girl and a bear. Yes, the bear talks, but the conversations, which form the meat of the book, are long wide-ranging talks about life and love and loss and redemption. Their relationship is touching, and it's a joy to watch it grow over the course of the book. The story is emotional and affecting. Nice read. Review: The beauty of this astounds me! - Oh, I have fallen in love with Bear. So sweet and so kind. I feel like when my father used to read me one chapter of Heidi at night. Now I have to go back and reread all these stories! I love this. Very moving and real emotions. A perfect friendship. The beauty of this astounds me! Oh, Bear, please come and visit me. I need you sometimes. You know everything to do to comfort. These stories are magical. Truly. Honestly. And they do help by their kindness and love and beauty. And reminders of all that is good.

Amazing tale but read the forward first
Amazing stories linked to one tale that really makes you think about yourself, life and the world around you. Be sure to read the intro/ dedication first to understand it. My only problem with it was Girl was unbelievable. She was 63 and physically abused yet could run and jump like a 20 yr old athlete. And the author must have used the words "giggled" and "the friends" about a hundred times. It got really old. But the story itself is a definite must read.

Swept me away into a world of belief and possibilities
Wasn't expecting to get immersed in this world so quickly but the scenery, the character development and the mystery surrounding each was enchanting. Bear and Girl each take up residency in your mind and tug on your heart strings as they literally wander through the beautiful Canadian Rockies. If you are paying attention, you will not only read but feel deep in your core, the magic that happens between them. All I can say is... enjoy each and every chapter as there are sparkling moments of hope and love that lift your spirit, calm your fears and warm your soul.

Refreshing
I loved the book. I gave it 5 stars because it was lovely and innocent and magical! They helped each other in ways that neither of them could have known possible. One day he was saving her life and the next, she saved his right back. I couldn't put it down!

Give yourself a beautiful gift and read BEAR AND GIRL!
James Peter Behr's book was originally written as an outreach to a victim of abuse. BEAR AND GIRL is the story of a magical talking polar bear in the Canadian Rockies who rescues and guides a woman escaping from her abuser. That is an oversimplification of this powerful creative book. If you're not familiar with this topic, like I was, this book also reveals to you the signs and mentalities involved in abuse.

Great story of caring.
This book shows how being sensitive to others needs can make more of a difference then you might ever know. Well written and emotionally very moving to the reader.

Bear and the Girl
I didn't want this book to end. Bear was a special being. He helped Girl to recover from being abused. Anything else would give away the book. I heartily encourage everybody to read it!! I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced!
