GMRS radios
These radios come already programmed. Just turn it on and you’re ready to start talking!

Be careful when you program it or it will erase some functions
Good radio works great difficult to program. If you reset it the FM radio will not work anymore.

Beware of TALK MAX
This is the absolute company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They claim that is water proof several times throughout the ad. The only disclaimer is not for diving. In reality it is barely splash proof. It has an open USB on the bottom, rain water would not have much trouble getting in. Next the have a video that claims you get a upgrade antenna, they say now it is a mistake they should take the video down. also that the special antenna only comes in the single pack. I purchased two single packs, and no antennas. Finally the worst thing is a sent several emails to their NON-SUPPORT dept. It took over a week to get a response. Which i just received today. I buy a lot of radios to program for my customers. ONLY FROM AMAZON, I can't even imagine trying to return and getting my money back from such a company after such a terrible. Getting a refund from AMAZON is no problem. I am retired from my PC business and been programming GMRS and HAM radios for over 15 years. I recommend always buying these radios from AMAZON for your protection. And there are several great companies to buy from. Good luck

So many buttons!
I ordered this mostly for the NOAA band, and so that we could annoy our friends on a caravan road trip. When I was much younger (before cell phones were common) I had cheap 3 channel walkie-talkies that we road tripped with, and I was excited to bring in the grown up equivalent.Boy, I’m sad to realize that 3 channel is more my speed. The radio is great (transmits for miles!) has a lot of features, and I’m still not sure how to use them. I figured out the weather band, set the 2 on the same frequency, and realized that was about the extent of my interest. It would have been nice if it could pick up EMS band for scanning, but it’s probably for the best that it can’t.If you are just getting into radio operation, this is an excellent choice to see if you really want to learn. It is probably good to have for hiking/camping, or if you want backup contact options driving through the empty places in the world. This is about as advanced a piece or radio equipment as I would want to have, and I’m glad I went with this rather than the super expensive deluxe feature set options.

Nice radio, not 8W on the ham bands though...
The radios boast several impressive features. Programming them from the keypad is cumbersome, but a Windows application provided by the seller facilitates programming through a Kenwood-type USB cable, although it is not compatible with CHIRP. Unfortunately, the application is quite rudimentary and lacks a cut and paste function.Nevertheless, the radios perform admirably, and the inclusion of a 'tactical' antenna—which outperforms the standard one—is a significant advantage. Testing with a 25w dummy load yielded an output of 5.1w in the 2-meter band on high and 1.1w on low. For the 70cm band, the output was 5.8w on high and 1.5w on low. It seems unlikely that the output will reach 8w on any usable band for hams.A notable feature is the waterproof rating, along with the convenience of creating a single code plug for both radios using the app. The USB charging option is also appreciated, eliminating the need to carry a charging cradle. The downsides include the awkwardness of programming both on the radio and via the app, and the actual power output on ham channels being lower than advertised. However, as I was in search of a waterproof radio and the power output sufficiently meets my requirements, these radios are, on balance, an excellent choice for my needs and I like them.

Great ham radio for cost
This radio has worked great for me. The radio works as it should, communication is clear, lots of customizable settings, battery life is long. And you won't warry about it can't work on the rainy weather.

Satisfactory Ham Radios
Bought these ham radios for camping they worked great, communication was seamless. Good clear quality sound and the range is actually pretty good. They reach at Least 20/30 miles with the upgraded tactical antenna at the campground. I like using this earpiece. Super comfy and convenient. I would buy it again.
