Some helpful info
This is a great kite, durable, very large, and easy to use. We tried it on a day with very sporadic, weak wind, and it was still easy to get up and keep up. (On another day that was extremely, terribly windy, I tried to get the kite up but it was fishtailing like crazy and then would turn and nose-dive to the ground.)If you're wondering about purchasing extra string to go with it, you don't really have to. It comes with very high-quality string that is quite long, wound on a flat plastic handle that somewhat resembles a small coat hanger and is easy enough for letting out more length of string or bringing the kite back in. But if you want to purchase an additional spool of string, the kite packaging says that 30-pound test strength is necessary. The plastic sleeve or pouch that the kite comes in is durable and very good for storing the kite when not in use; the pouch even has a plastic snap closure.

Easy to Fly!
This kite really is easy to fly! I bought it for my 3 year old - we've only used it once so far, at the beach with a steady 15 mph wind. The kite took right off and stayed in the air the whole time we held it. None of us were experienced kite flyers and this was my daughter' first time with a kite of any kind. She was able to fly it with no instructions. All she had to do was hold on to the end of the string. She ran all over the beach with it, going in circles, up-wind, down-wind, across the wind. The kite stayed in the air the whole time. The dog pattern looked great in the air, and the kite seemed to be very well made and durable.I recommend this kite to anyone with very small kids. Advanced kite flyers might get bored with its simplicity.

Works even without wind
Even if there is no wind at all, my kids can run with this kite behind them and it will fly a few feet up in the air. There's just no way to fail with this kite.I bought a cheaper, fancier kite to take out with my kids for their first kite flight. Unfortunately that was the wrong choice. Even in a good wind it was just too difficult to get it in the air. I met other people on the field who said it took them about 30 minutes to get their kite up, but with a 2 year old and 3 year old that's just not feasible. This kite, on the other hand, only requires a gentle breeze and it will soar easily. It's eager to leap out of your hand and into the sky. My kids and I have no trouble with it at all. Not to mention the dog is very cute.I read a review that said this kite does not have string. Mine did come with string and a handle.

A Great and Easy Kite
I bought this kite last Spring for my daughter after wasting my money on a couple of cheap plastic kites that were tough to assemble, broke easily, and really didn't even fly. This one is super-easy to assemble; all you have to do is insert a cross-bar into a couple of nylon slots. It also flies great, and is very durable, having survived over a year of trips to the beach (we go all the time). It's well worth the money, and is probably cheaper in the long run than buying a bunch of crappy plastic kites from your local convenience store. The only drawback is that it takes forever to reel it back in once deployed!

Too easy to fly
I can't believe how easy this kite is to fly. While everyone else was struggling to get their kite up. This kite went up and stayed up. This kite does not require any technical skill and you might actually find it boring if you are used to lots of maneuvering to keep a kite in the air. This is great for small kids who are looking for instant gratification and because it stays up in the air without any real skill, you can use as a location marker on a crowded beach.

Good kite but a horrible string!
Like many others, I bought this kite primarily based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews here on Amazon. After using it (well, attempting to at least) three days in a row, I could not disagree more with most of the reviews.I had 18mph winds today and could not manage to keep this kite airborne. The kite is not to blame here, the PRIMARY reason for my frustration with this item is the UTTERLY DISASTROUS string and sorry excuse for a reel.I immediately knew it was a low quality item when the string developed several serious knots in it just from simple use. This happened repeatedly and was the largest source of my frustration. A quality line of string will not knot so easily. Secondly, the reel is very difficult to let out and return slack on which is almost as frustrating as the knotting. All in all, I will be buying a new reel and string in an attempt to salvage what appears to be a decent kite. The only other complaints I would have are:1. The hook where you attach the string should be metal reinforced and the string should attach with a clamp. An extra 2 cents to produce in China but a world of difference for us consumers.2. A $30 kite should include a better carrying case.Bottom line, seems like an OK kite but do yourself a favor and buy it with a better reel/string kit.

Missing piece
Bought this kite several years ago. Never could fly it because it’s missing the cross piece. Got it out today to see if I could use a piece from another kite and no go. Very disappointed.

Simple and easy kite flying fun; good quality kite
I bought this for my 5 year old so he could fly these in the open field while I am coaching soccer. He and a friend of his were able to get this to fly in less than 5 minutes. It is a bit expensive for the item (hence, a 4 star), but the kite is well designed, good fabric, 300 ft string (seems a lot for a 5 yr old), average winder and easy to pack/unpack. You should consider buying more than one of these so kids can fly theirs together.
