Well I decided to try one of these RJ45 conectorsby AMPCOM on my main eithernet cord going to my PC. All say yes there pretty nice when it's all said and done but don't think that your going to do it tool free like they claim because your still going to need a tool to strip the main cable and after that the eight wires that your going to put in to the conector are not going to be exactly the right length so your going to need a pair of dikes to cut off the wires because they can't be hanging past the front of the conector on the top or the bottom so i don't think you can say there tool free. Yes they are probably a little easier then the crimp type and I think there nicer then the crimp type when your done. I only did one so far and i'm used to doing it with the crimp type conectors so it wasn't to hard for me to figure out but for someone that has never done a RJ45 conector before you might have to practice a few times to get it right. On the other hand if you get it wrong you still have a good conector to try again, when you get it wrong with the crimp type you have to cut the conector off and srart all over again with another conector and strip the wire back again before you start. You get two little plastic tools with the kit, one is for untwisting your colored wires and the other is for crimping your the plastic piece that your wires go in to, to the conector. in my opinion you can throw those away there both just plastic junk and are not any help. You can untwist the wires by hand which your going to have to do anyway because once there untwisted you still have four sets of wires that still need untwisted to make eight wires. The other tool is so flimsy that i just took my little rubber hammer and tapped the two pieces together wich i think was a lot easier then trying to line everthing up in that flimsy plastic crimper. Overall I think it's a pretty good idea and product, I would recommend them but i'm only giving them 4 stars because they are not a totally tool free conector like they claim to be. I do think there worth the money because you can use them more then one time and they are easier for someone that has never ever put on a RJ45 Conector before. So thats my opinion on these RJ45 conectors made by AMPCOM, I hope maybe this will help some of you if you decide to purchase these. Thanks For Reading

Ok so first of all let's talk quality. These are nice, solid bits of hardware that will help you finish out some nice looking cables. Now, let's talk about "easy" and "tool free"- you still need wire cutters and strippers, so I'm not sure this really qualifies as tool free. I would go as far as to guess that most people keep their punch down tool in the same tool bag as their wire strippers so, I'm not sure if there's really an advantage there. Making ethernet cables is annoying no matter how you slice it, even with these connectors its still tedious work, especially if you have big hands. Where these connectors do provide an advantage is that they are more tolerant of various thicknesses of cable. Not all ethernet cables are the same thickness, even in the same category, due to both the gauge of the individual conductors and the thickness of the sheathing, and typical cheap connectors and strain relief must be the right size. The other thing to consider about these connectors is that they are much longer than the typical cheap plastic connector. This makes for a nice easy to grip connector on one hand, but may present an issue in tight spaces. Nice that they come in different colors so you can match cable sheathing and to help you trace cables in cluttered spaces!

This was really easy to figure out and terminate my CAT5E wires. I know it's rated 6A but it's passing gigabit just fine over 5E (about a 40 foot run). Just make sure have pth recision snips if you want it to be easier to use. Strip back the outer shield, keep the pairs together (orange, blue, green and brown) and the organize the top two pairs with the bottom two pairs. Slip them in, and I found starting inside wires was easier and then slip the outside wires. Repeat for the bottom row but don't forget they go through the cap first. Then once everything is wired up (double check you followed all A or all B, and have solid/stripe right, when putting pairs through), then snip where the wire comes through. Put the cap on, firmly rock side to side worked best for me, and then slide the end assemble to hold the cap. Tighten the threaded cap to hold it all together. I had it all running in a few minutes, and then ran bandwidth tests to make sure there wasn't interference or cross-talk from poor termination.

These are NOT for every day use, any tech using these for that is not as tech, but, I have them with me, is a lot easier to make a quick repair on the spot when you are not with your cabling tools or when arriving at remote location for other trouble and just happen to find a connector issue. Also, for those times where you need a patch cable, but all you have are cables being used, yup, cut one, make two with this.

Easy to terminate. Tested with good results.
