My husband has had ALZ for almost 11 years. We have done a lot of these and other treatments. I read other reviews, and my thoughts are: even not reversing but slowing down decline is an absolute win! My husband was diagnosed at age 60 using a nuclear brain test. We started many off the beaten path things mentioned in this book and some that were not mentioned. 11 years into the disease he is still functioning in life and just went to the college World Series. Buy this book and start fighting. The younger the patient the more success I think possible. Review: This book brings great hope, an enormous amount of important information, all supported by excellent resources. - This book should be in every family library. It holds many important resources, all presented in a crisp, vital writing style that captivates and holds the reader's attention and imagination. We all need to pay attention to this text, for it could save your mind and your life. The information comes from interviews with the nine top physicians featured in the book. The author brings these dedicated physicians to life. Their courage and conviction supports their findings and implementations. Each chapter ends with valuable resources, including a link to the Oxford University site in England that even includes a short Cognitive Function Test (with almost immediate evaluation). This well done Test could serve as a warm-up for anyone going in for cognitive evaluation. The United States has significantly improved lately in educating its citizens in all matters concerned with our health and well-being. I just finished reading Peggy Sarlin's book, so I have not had time to search online for a site as functional and educational as the Oxford site. Perhaps other reviews can fill in this gap? Order this book soon, and read it aloud to your family as soon as it arrives!

A must read to stay informed and help someone living with Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia among older people. It is a neurodegenerative disease that damages the parts of the brain controlling thought, memory, and language. AD is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer, a German doctor who, more than 100 years ago, studied the brain tissue of a woman who had died of an unusual mental illness, and found abnormal clumps (now called amyloid plaques) and tangled bundles of fibers (now called neurofibrillary tangles). Today, these plaques and tangles in the brain are considered signs of AD, as are other brain changes, including the death of nerve cells in areas of the brain that are vital to memory and other mental abilities and the disruption of functional connections, called synapses, that allow nerve cells to communicate with each other. The disease is also characterized by lower levels of some of the chemicals in the brain that carry messages between nerve cells. AD may impair thinking and memory by disrupting these messages. There probably is no single cause of AD. The most important known risk factors are age and family history, although education, diet, and environment might also play roles. Scientists are also finding evidence that some of the risk factors for heart disease and strokeโsuch as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and low levels of the vitamin folateโmight increase the risk of AD. Evidence is also increasing for physical, mental, and social activities as protective factors against AD. Although scientists have learned a great deal about AD, they still do not know what causes the disease and have not identified a cure for it. This book is truly a treasure of research and tips on how to address the symptoms of Alzheimer's, especially in the first and second stages of Alzheimer's. I have adopted the recommendations for my husband, Maj. Larry S. Potter, USAF Ret. (Remembering4You(dot)com) even if he is now in the advanced stage of his Alzheimer's. It has made all the difference in the world for him and he has regained so much. For example, he had not spoken full sentences for about 1.5 years. Now he speaks full sentences, is asking questions such as "Are you happy?" or "What did you say?", and he is able to move his arms to reposition his own pillows and his legs are moving again with the feet reaching to touch the floor. He stopped walking almost 3 years ago now. I like to say that adopting some of these recommendations such as Prevagen(R) and Lion's Mane to replace the standing Alzheimer's medications prescribed today with all sorts of dangerous side effects is a breakthrough for millions of individuals. Not at all detailed
My aunt is 96 and she does not realize she has alheimers. She no longer wants input from me. She says her doctor would tell her if there is something else she could try. Even if he did she would not remember. So instead of asking her to please take the coconut oil I gave her which she would not do, I gave her the book hoping that if she sees it in writing she may believe it more. Unfortunately her doctor initially told her she had dementia and that she remembers. She say the book is not for her, she does not have alzheimers. Back to the book. It was so much smaller than I expected for the price. It does not have a lot of detail. It does have good information but very little of it. I don't think it was worth the price.

Interesting read
It makes sense. Certainly worth trying for your loved one to see if it can slow down the progression of Alzheimer's. My Dad was diagnosed a little over a year ago and while he is forgetful, he hasn't progressed past that to dangerous forgetfulness yet. I believe that the protocol in this book is helping.

Interesting research and valuable information.
I bought this book because my father is affected by this kind of illness and I believe the products described in the book are interesting. You probably kwow some of theses products such as coconut oil or gingko biloba, but there are others that are less known and more expensive. Il you want to try all the products described in this book, you will probably need to spend a few hundreds dollars per month but this is far less than the cost to place someone in a nursing home. However, there is no guaranty that thoses products really work for everyone, but it may be worth a try if you can afford it. I am not expecting miracles, but if this could help, why not trying it? The book is very easy to read. I read it in less than two hours and English is not my first language. Very easy to read and well done.

Alzheimer's is an aggressive disease
It is essential in our 21st century era to truly recognise Alzheimer's insidious threat and not be deceived until it is too late. As Alzheimer's reaches way beyond epidemic, way beyond massive scope of covid, the perilous responsibility of managing ones health 10-20 years from now when failure to self manage is likely

It is such an easy read, chalk full of new ways to address ...
I had followed the series on " Awakening From Alzheimer's ", but never bought the book. It is such an easy read, chalk full of new ways to address Alzheimer's, and have started to use the coconut oil myself. Should be interesting. Just the occasional lapse, but wanted it as a preventative.
