Accurate, Professional-Grade Pool Test Kit That Takes the Guesswork Out
I picked up the Taylor K-2005 Test Kit for my pool, and it’s a big step up from basic test strips. If you want reliable, consistent readings, this kit delivers. The biggest advantage is accuracy. The DPD testing method for chlorine and bromine gives clear, easy-to-read results, and you’re not trying to guess colors like you do with strips. It tests everything you need—free and total chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness—so you get a complete picture of your water. The instructions are straightforward, and once you run through it once or twice, the process becomes quick and routine. Each test is clearly laid out, and the reagents are labeled well, which helps avoid confusion. What I really like is the consistency. I’ve tested multiple times and get dependable readings, which makes balancing chemicals much easier. That alone saves time and money because you’re not overcorrecting based on bad data. The case is organized and keeps everything in place, making it easy to store and bring out when needed. It feels like a professional-grade kit without being overly complicated. Overall, this is a must-have if you’re serious about maintaining your pool the right way. Much more accurate than strips and worth it for the control it gives you over your water chemistry. Highly recommended.

Good kit worth the $$
Kit is easy to use and seems to be pretty accurate. No regents to test salt in my pool but other than that is pretty consistent with my pool stores results. Better than the strips which I feel are useless.

Much more accurate than test strips, but takes some practice
When I first opened the box and looked at the instructions inside the lid, I was overwhelmed to say the least. The instructions are much more complicated (and take far longer) than just dipping a test strip into the pool. Some tests even require you to do some multiplication. Despite the test’s complexities, the results are definitely comprehensive. It’s fairly easy to read the chlorine content and pH level results. However, for the Alkalinity (requires multiplication) and Cyanuric acid (requires adding solution drops until you can’t see a black dot) tests, they have no exact color match method. This test reminded me of one of my college chem labs. Definitely bring a notebook and paper out to your pool with you to write down all your results, and be prepared to consult AI with your pool water readings for what to do to balance your pool water. This test is NOT quick, but it is highly accurate if you can manage to perform the tests correctly. I docked it 1 star due to the time consuming and complex nature of the tests.
