It requires a small hole drilled into side of cabinet but it looks fine and is well worth it! The tee/valve connects on top of a chrome shutoff valve, which is the standard valve usually present. I have a 3" Kohler elevated elongated seat from desertcart due to hip replacement and the bidet works perfectly. The bidet was leaking water in the toilet bowl and I reordered another one to replace and but the leak was getting worse. But after careful research, I realized it was due to the high water pressure in my apartment , which I can not control. I even tried to turn off lower the water pressure by turning off the knob at the toilet tank and was still leaking. I found the solution. I brought a bidet valve that had an on and off switch. Reinstalled the valve to be able to turn on and off the bidet... problem solved, no more leaks. If I need to use the bidet. I turn it on. If not, I turn it off at the switch and just use the toilet as normal without needing to turn on and off the toilet's water supply.
