Durable water container great for camping and travel
This 2.5 gallon water container is very well made and feels extremely durable. The plastic is thick and rigid and does not flex when full. The cap seals tightly with no leaks and pouring is easy and controlled. Size is perfect for camping overland trips or emergency water storage. BPA free material is a nice bonus and it stores easily when not in use. Great quality and worth the price.

Excellent water jug - much easier to carry than larger ones
These water jugs are the perfect size. My wife cannot pickup the huge 7 gallon Reliant canisters, and thesew are a much better alternative. Rather than a 5 gallon jug, I pick multiple 2.5 gallon jugs as they are easier to carry and wash. If you would have difficulty picking up and carrying a larger jug - these are the perfect alternative. These jugs are also more durable than the reliant jugs, and I like the color better. The price for these is much better than at REI, so I highly recommend picking them up from Amazon. These are more expensive than the blue Reliant jugs; however, it's of no use if they are too heavy for someone to pickup. I carry one or two in the truck when we are headed out for a long day and need spare water. They fit perfectly near my tie downs in my Tacoma. Highly recommended.

Perfect!
I have to haul water in to an off-grid cabin, and for years I've been using those large 5 or 6-gallon blue jugs. I can't tell you how many of those I've gone through - typically the pour spouts break or the thin blue plastic breaks. But the biggest problem with them is that when they're full, they're very heavy. At my age now (closing in on 69), I find it very hard to actually lift and carry them. So, when I saw the Scepter 2.5 gallon containers I decided to try one. What a difference! I wound up buying three more. Four of these are pretty close in capacity to two of the blue jugs. They are much easier to lift and carry, they're built so much better, and the caps are made very well and have thick o-rings in them. I don't need any pour spouts, so these containers are perfect for me. They're made in Canada. The blue ones? Well, you know where they're made. My only regret is that I wish I had found these sooner. I would have saved some backaches and probably a few $$ along the way. I'm doing leak tests on all four containers. So far, so good. Nice job Scepter!

Dang tough and easy to clean
We purchased four of these water jugs for our week-long canoe trip. They have a 10-liter capacity, which was just right for storing enough water without being too heavy to carry. The small spout and vent make it easy to pour water, and the big opening makes it super easy to fill and clean. None of our jugs leaked when we left them on their sides our canoes. The jugs did have a smell when we first got them, but we washed them with soap and water, and then let them air dry for a week with the large lid removed. The smell eventually went away, and our drinking water always tasted great. Some folks might say the price is a bit high, but these food-grade plastic water jugs are super durable, built for adventure, and the price will likely be justified when they last for many years.

Safe, Reliable Water Storage
Purchased a few of these for emergency water supply during hurricane season. I am very happy with the quality, ruggedness and size of this jerrycan. I also purchased more for my boat, and this is a good size for my car if I need water on the go. I can lift and carry this 2.5 gal/10ltr size when filled (can't manage the 5 gal/20 ltr size... have to drag it around). It did not have any leaks when can was laid down flat or on its side using just my hand to tighten. Openings are easy to grip and turn. There is also a tool available if you need (optional purchase) to assist with tightening (extra confidence of no leaking with jostling or temperature changes) and loosening to remove the caps (weak or small hands). Caps have retaining attachments so they will not fall off or get lost. I especially like having two opening sizes for good control of filling and pouring. Also, the wide-mouth opening allows me to put my hand inside for a thorough cleaning. Another benefit is an optional spout is available - helps with filling other bottles, cooking pots, or washing hands or other items. No funny smells or residue (wash and air dry before first use). Very pleased and recommend.

Not family friendly
It's sturdy and leak proof, but not mom friendly. I bought the adaptor spout, but the small-air-vent on a can is placed right above the pouring spout. If you set the can ("facedown") in a way that the adaptor spout can work via gravity, the can leaks water thru the air-vent opening. You have to keep it upright and tilt it manually every time you want to pour. It gets annoying with the kids asking for help every hour because they can't lift and manipulate the pouring angle themselves. Had the air-vent was designed somewhere on the other side, so the can could be set up to be used with just a push of a spout lever, it would have worked for us.

GREAT WATER CANS, HEAVY DUTY, MILITARY GRADE
After years of storing water in those clear spring water jugs from HD & WM, and having them ultimately split and leak at the darndest times, I finally decided to go with something a little more substantial and these fit the bill perfectly. I bought a 6-pack of the 5-gallon water cans and four of these 2.5-gallon smaller cans for "in the Jeep use". As I was doing my initial wash & sanitize steps on these, which you should do even with new Nalgene bottles and Tupperware bowls, I was reminded of the old Samsonite luggage commercial from the 70's where they torture-tested the luggage with gorillas...well, these things are definitely gorilla proof! Some reviewers complain about the smell of plastic and relate that to "dangerous and toxic chemicals" and I read one review that claimed that Scepter mixed up the plastic on these for the plastic that they use for fuel cans. Sorry scooter, that's just plain silly and a knee-jerking, review from an uninformed person. Fact, these water cans are made of food-grade, BPA free plastic. 100% safe! They are blow molded and shortly thereafter the lid is affixed and sealed-up and the whole can is prepared for shipping. Guess what scooter...these things are made of plastic and plastic smells like plastic...even food-grade plastic still smells like plastic right out of the factory...unlike laundry detergent, there is no such thing as scent-free plastic...surprise-surprise...the inside is going to smell like plastic immediately after opening up a never used can, especially when new and freshly sealed up. I removed the lids and let mine air-out for about 24 hours and there was just the faintest smell of plastic. After a double-wash & rinse with Dawn dish detergent, there is no smell. I filled with water and taste-tested after a week and my water tastes like water. Absolutely zero after taste and no plastic taste. These are good cans! If your water tastes like plastic out of these...you did not wash them good enough before use. I did perform a slight modification to my lids in order to make them more easier to dispense. I took a brand-new, 1/2" NPT pipe tap and cut threads into the inside of the small pour spout. Then went to HD and bought a 1/2" water valve so I can screw it into the pour spout and sit the can on it's side and let gravity fill my water bottles and anything else that needs filling. I highly recommend these water cans! They will literally be the last water can that you will ever buy unless it gets lost or stolen. If you're sitting on the edge about these cans, just buy them and give them a good airing-out and washing before use...and remember plastic smells like plastic when new...even food grade, BPA free plastic still smells like plastic. That's just the way it is.....

Very well-made and great price.
Very well-made and exactly what I needed! I stored water/antifreeze in the back of my truck in a plastic container, it deteriorated. But this is military grade and looks like it'll last forever.

Best I ever owned
Drop it out of a bush plane .... no problem as it will not break. Also when you open the spout and air breather you can pour or fill anything without spilling a drop. Very controlled. Love this container.
