The pile is low enough that my door is able to open and close without catching on the rug. And the rug is surprisingly soft! It washes beautifully. I did wash it in warm water to help remove the soil from all the traffic in and out. Even after three months of heavy footwear, the rug washed up beautifully and looks like new. I air dried it to not damage the nonslip backing, and the rug lays and is skid-resistant, just as it was when it was new.
