Animal Dreams

Having lost my mother at a young age, and a beloved sister more recently, though under more prosaic circumstances than Hallies, I found reading this book both unbearably painful and wonderfully enriching. Despite, or possibly because of, this personal connection, this book made me smile a lot and caused me to think more positively about my own life. A wonderful writer, a story that will stay with me.

Another one of Barbara's best and a gentle read. Much has been said by other reviewers so my comments are only again about the literary style of this author which I find very appealing It is clear that she has written a variety of different works and shall now seek out her essays. I enjoy the philosophical stance she usually takes and her women characters are always comnplex and interesting. I found some of the ideas about dreams interesting but not sure I agree with them all as believe dreams are the most fascinating part of our sleep and too complicated to be just related to todays thoughts and activities. But so glad she got her man in the end. I certainly would have!!

This is a superb book: well written, fully developed characters, and a personal mystery at the heart of it. It also has one of the best heroes of modern fiction. Kingsolver is a brilliant writer, and this is possibly her best book.

If you have ever lost someone young this will be an emotional rollercoaster. Prepare to cry lots. Kingsolver manages to weave important messages in between her characters and the histories of land and people. She makes you think a lot. She touches your heart (or perhaps the liver….) and brain and her books stay with you a long while after you’ve finished reading.

Book in OK condition. I would estimate probably a cheap version of original, based upon quality of paper & print. As I'm currently reading it it is good enough. As ever the story draws you in with great detail. I save all books by this author for guests to share when visiting.

The seemingly effortless depth of focus draws you down into it. You become not just a witness to the unfolding events butpartofthestory.

A beautiful read - it’s like sitting with a close friend round a campfire while she opens up for the first time - talking through her past and searching to reconcile her heart and soul and create a future.

WOW what another amazing book by this wonderful Author! This is the third one i have read and will definately be reading more! You just felt you were there ! Just brilliant!
