I don’t mind being called a coffee snob, I just can’t bring myself to drink instant when it just isn’t anywhere near the taste of pod or bean to cup. This is the first time I’ve tried Nespresso Ristretto pods. I like to try as many different brands and varieties as possible, as I find that although I have my favourites, it’s good to broaden your taste experience as sometimes I stumble on a little gem - which is what has happened with these Ristretto pods. This is one of the smoothest tasting Nespresso pods I’ve ever had. The strength rating is 10 out of 13, which surprised me as a lot of the stronger pods seem to also come with a more bitter taste; that’s not to say I don’t enjoy bitter coffee, this one just caught me off-guard with how smooth it was. I make Americano coffee with my pods by topping the shot up with hot water and adding a dash of milk, so cannot comment on how it is as an espresso shot - that’s a bit hardcore for me! One pod was certainly enough for a decent sized mug, I’ve found that some pods aren’t strong enough without adding an extra shot. Overall, I’d say a super-smooth flavour, without the bitterness.
