PTM7950 by CSGR 40x40x0.25mm Phase Change Material & K5 PRO 20g Thermal Paste Set – Top Recommended Cooling Solution for PCs & Consoles

The putty is really messy and hard to work with, but after some fiddling my rx 6950xt is now running 20 degrees cooler

PTM7950は文句なく最高レベルのTIMのひとつです。 このサイズのシートならノートPCだと 2台分は使えます。 貼る時は常温で作業しましたがカッターの刃でフィルムをめくるのにすこし慎重になるくらいでした。 K5Proはクセ強いです。VRAMとヒートシンク間の0.3ミリ未満のギャップに使用しましたが、負荷かけると熱が溜まったままになります。 パテというよりガムのように張り付くので定期的に開けるなら掃除しやすい他のパテが向いています。

Needed some of this to replace the compound on my laptop when I had to disassemble it to reapply the (factory) liquid metal on the CPU and GPU that had either migrated out due to use or hadn't been properly applied when new. It works great and was easy to apply on the RAM and VRMs.

This worked great on my Asus Tuf A15 2023. Brought temps down to better than the stock paste.

After 3 months of usage, I try another PTM product. It turns out that another PTM is 1~2C cooler on core and 2~3C cooler on hotspot and the fan speed is 100rpm lower on desktop GPU and 1~2 gear lower on my laptop. I'm not sure why the difference between these two PTMs. This is still good. But there is a better one. ===== 1 40x40mm is good for 1 10750H, RTX2070 and RTX3080Ti(desktop). It's like a sheet of American cheese. You can piece it together. I limited 10750H to 30~35W before. After PTM, I can increase to 45W and temp is about the same while running Timespy. Both PTM7950 and K5pro are applied on RTX2070, VRM and VRAM. GPU temp is about 2~4C lower. But delta of hotspot and GPU is further 2C lower. That's much better than some popular thermal pastes. I applied way too much K5 on VRM and VRAM, and that 20g K5pro should be good for 3 sets of RTX2070(laptop). PTM7950 on RTX3080Ti only, no K5pro. RTX3080Ti is 1~2C lower but fan is also 200rpm lower. Delta of hotspot drops to 6~8c. It was 8~11C before. Btw, PTM7950 does need a few heat cycles to get better performance.
