Dyson Hot+Cool™ AM09 Jet Focus heater and fan

So I was hesitant to purchase this heater/fan initially because of the high price tag but I will say that now that we have it in the house we are absolutely loving it. It is ideally suited for small spaces so we use it to keep our daughters’ bedroom warm during colder months. It does this job exceptionally well- the room stays perfectly comfortable without fear of overheating the girls due to the built in thermostat and the ability to adjust the fan power at a comfortably low setting. This is true for the cooling fan as well. Other fans we’ve used are loud and overpowering and need to be placed in front of a well ventilated area to push cold air out. The intensity of the fans make it too cold to keep on all night. Not so with this fan - again somehow this fan manages to have just the perfect settings so you can adjust it to be cool enough but not overpowering. And we can stick it in front of a wall and it still manages to push cold air out. It is also very safe because unlike other space heaters it does not get hot so you don’t have to worry about little ones burning themselves if they touch it. The things to consider about this unit are the following : it is not well suited for larger spaces like a large open living room- while it will heat the space it will not do it sufficiently enough to feel toasty warm like a larger unit would. It also can not be used as an air conditioning unit for larger spaces - the fan is very effective and does a good job of cooling you in a small space but it does not have a high intensity cooling system like AC units do. Essentially if you have a small space that you need to heat and cool comfortably then this will work well for you. I would say it is best used to heat or cool a child’s room because it is safe, quiet and not overly intense so you never have to worry that your child is too hot or too cold at night while they sleep. That being said as much as we love the unit (and it is really an exceptionally well made and high quality product) we did get it on sale and I’m not sure that we would have bought it at full price, as it is quite expensive for just being a simple fan and heater.

I've had this unit for less than a month and used heater and fan functions. I love is how the heater disburses the heat. I don't have to be right next to the unit to feel the heat, like most space heaters. The noise level is nice. Obviously will get louder when turn up the speed however it's a big improvement from traditional space heaters. Was surprised how cool the air was when using the fan. There are several comments about not feeling enough air movement when using the fan. If a person wants to feel a large volume of air blowing, you won't get that from this product. It doesn't blow air like a standard bladed fan. However, it does provide a nice air flow if a person wants air movement without blowing stuff around the room. I haven't had any issues with a clicking noise while unit is isolating. I've looked at these in stores, however, cannot get a full understanding how the air flow feels. I'm using in home office therefore not a large room. Was skeptical and didn't understand the hoopla especially with the price tag. I used a gift card to purchase and have been happy enough to purchase another unit.

I noticed that my current roommate keeps the temperatures a little out of my ideal zone (Sometimes it's a bit too cold or a bit too hot for me). The Dyson Fan Heater solved that problem easily! When my room gets cold at night, I just turn it on, and within minutes my entire room becomes warm again! Like wise, the fan portion works as expected, which can really help in the 110 degree Las Vegas summers. The different settings for timers, and diffused vs. direct cooling/heating work even better then I thought. Sometimes it feels really good to just sit in the fans way, and other times you just want it to cool/heat your whole room asap, and these functions really help with that. The big question is what makes this product worth paying such a price premium vs. a fan & space heater. First, is the size. This unit is absolutely tiny for what it can output. Also, since it does both heating and cooling you don't need to have 2 different products. Additionally, the Dyson is safe. Watching all the fires started by space heaters, I feel a lot more comfortable with this unit,esp. since Dyson is such a reliable/trusted brand. If you have small children, the lack of blades can be a big plus too! Last, and maybe the most shallow, this unit is beautiful to keep on your counter/desk/stand. It has almost a futuristic appearance, and I've been asked more then a few times what it is. I was really worried that I would be wasting my money, but it was worth every penny! If you can afford it, and you want both a heater and a fan, this is the product for you!

Heats, cools, & it’s Dyson. Love the brand. Heating is amazing, warms my small living, bedroom in no time. Cooling is just as wonderful. Again, turn it on a give it a minute. Comfort! The noise is not bad at all, pretty quiet.

This fan has been very convenient to use, thanks to the remote control and the magnetic holder on top, which keeps the remote within easy reach. Both the cooling and heating functions work well and provide a noticeable effect. The temperature control covers a decent amount of space and makes it comfortable in my room, though it’s not quite as wide as the product description suggests. It still performs well for personal or small-room use, but don’t expect it to heat or cool a large area. Overall, this is a practical and easy-to-use fan with both heating and cooling capabilities. The remote and magnetic holder add a nice touch, making it more convenient for everyday use.

No visible heating elements, great for houses with pets, oscillation option and thermostat functions are highly desirable, especially with electric rates on the rise. Fan is awesome! i have purchased numerous models and types over the years, and all work well, but this one works way better and well worth the price!!!!!

I am extremely disappointed with the Dyson Hot+Cool AM09. From the very first time I plugged it in, it produced a strong and unpleasant plastic smell. This is completely unacceptable for a product in this price range. This is not the Dyson quality it used to be years ago, when the company was known for reliable vacuum cleaners and hair dryers. Unfortunately, it feels like the brand now relies more on its name than on actual product quality. I didn’t even get to properly use the unit. I simply plugged it in, noticed the strong plastic odor immediately, and decided it was not safe or comfortable to use. The item was absolutely brand new and returned in unused condition. What made the experience even worse is that the Dyson Store charged me a $153 return fee for returning a brand-new product. This is extremely disappointing and unfair. Based on my experience, I do not recommend buying Dyson products, especially directly from the Dyson Store.

I’m not sure why there are the negative reviews but I’ve been super happy after using it for several seasons. In the winter it’s great to warm my office, quiet enough for my conference calls but puts out good heat without being too much. Love that you can adjust the temperature. The cool function is not an A/C, it’s a fan only. But after running it on the lowest setting while I’m working my office is noticeably cooler esp when it’s 90+ degrees at night. Also love it for sleeping at night. It’s a cooling breeze without having my hair blow everywhere. If you leave it on and oscillating for days it will click, but as long as you occasionally give it a rest it’s very quiet. Happy enough with my purchase that I want a second so I don’t have to move it between rooms.

The heater didn’t work even once, I’ve been trying to contact the seller to refund or exchange my product, but to no avail. I’m feeling helpless as I have invested so much of my money.

I purchased this heater for a large sun-room that is quite cold in the winter months. It is a large space to heat but this does the job well. It's quiet and stylish. So quiet that I have sometimes forgotten to switch it off, although that can be solved with the timer feature. It provides a heat that does not dry out the atmosphere. The heater is well constructed and easy to move to a different location. It's not as cheap as some similar products but you get what you pay for.

Absolutely fantastic fan! Set up was super easy and quick, fan itself is very powerful both while cooling and heating. Sturdy build, but very easy to move around as it's not very heavy. High price tag but I think it is worth it.
