My review after more than a week of almost constant use.
I compared a lot of dehydrators before settling on this one. Previously I had one of those round ones with stacking trays that just blows semi-warm air and takes forever and is in no way convenient to use. Comparing that old round dehydrator to this one is like comparing a horse drawn cart to a Lamborghini. My primary reason for purchasing any dehydrator was to save money by making my own jerky and dried fruit, and to control what ingredients go into my food. The fact that this unit has 12 trays was also appealing, so I could make large batches and take advantage of seasonal produce sales, meat sales, etc.The dehydrator has handles on the sides for easy carrying and moving. The instructions say you need 12" of clearance behind the unit for proper air flow. Due to its size and this requirement, I didn't actually set it up in my small kitchen, but on a card table in the spare bedroom. Even at the hottest setting, the outside and top do not get so hot that you can't put your hand on it. It is definitely an oversized appliance because of the dozen racks, so if space is a consideration, maybe go with something smaller.Operation is simple and intuitive. You plug it in, press the power button, and adjust the dials for time and temperature. If the unit is plugged in but not on, the power button blinks constantly. That kind of bugged me so when it's not running I just unplug it. If you don't have OCD, you can probably ignore it. Testing the temperature with a remote probe, I found the unit ran about 10 degrees cooler than the set point. Because of this, I just set the temperature 10 degrees higher. It certainly gets warm enough to dehydrate foods effectively.Putting in the maximum number of racks vs fewer doesn't appear to have any effect on performance, so feel free to load it up. Food is dried evenly with the two fans and aside from my own mistakes recipe-wise, the dehydrator has produced good quality food. The full size window in the door allows you to monitor progress. It would have been a bonus to have a light inside, but I just shine a flashlight through to keep an eye on things.I recommend getting some silicone trays along with this dehydrator to make fruit leathers. By making jerky and dried fruit myself, I reckon this thing is going to save me a ton of money over time. This was a great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an efficient, large capacity dehydrator, and has the space for it.

Much more efficient than my old Presto round racks. It's a keeper.
I'm not really a review writer but this machine is a keeper.Three weeks of using so far and I like how this dehydrating machine is working, and the racks clean easily. With my old Presto, the machine worked just fine but hard to clean with the racks being round and plastic. I've been drying sliced figs, herbs, lemon rings, peaches slices, onions and bell peppers for years. But the racks being plastic, the sliced figs especially, would be a mess and I'd have to soak them regularly and the stackable racks being round were hard to soak. BUT with this new machine, the racks are square with rounded edges, with silicone sheets (included). Racks being square soak easier and silicone sheets, being on the soft side wash like a dream. I wish I'd purchased this machine sooner. I love how you can open the glass door and remove just the rack you want. Very convenient.Cons: It's a beast. I can lift it and move it but it's awkward. I'm 125 lbs., 75 years old and in good health. I'll keep mine in the garage on my work bench. Even though it is very quite it still takes up space whereas the Presto, when not in use, stacked to about 10 inches and could be stored and lifted easily. Is it more efficient than my old Presto? Too early to tell. but I do like that you can see the racks easily with the glass door, remove just the rack you need and not have to remove the racks above to get to the rack you desire like on my Presto.Would I buy it again? YES. It's a keeper!
