I used a domestic hair dryer to do the shrinking and that seemed to work very well. My only disappointment was the fixed cut lengths seemed a little short, ranging from 37mm for the smaller bores up to 45mm. Those lengths would probably be sufficient for the vast majority of jobs though and the convenience factor of having them ready in their container outweighs all else. Or wrap the cable with electric tape to increase thickness to roughly the same diameter as the plug, then use the 2:1 heat shrink.
