Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor, 1080p Camera, 5" HD Screen

I purchased this for a coworker 7 weeks ago. He came back from paternity leave today. He said he and his wife absolutely love this baby monitor. He is shocked by how accurately the AI feature identifies what is wrong with their newborn, why is he crying... it send notifications with the reason he is crying. They said it is the best gift the received for their new son. The video quality is amazing and it want on the highest quality level. The night vision quality is amazingly clear and crisp. They have the nursery in their bedroom and then in the babies room. They love it so much they are going to buy a second one to put in the babies room to replace a different baby monitor that doesn’t do anything except motion alerts. This monitor not only defects motion and identifies the likely cause of the babies behavior, it monitors his breathing patterns and alerts you to any irregularities. Having peace of mind is worth every penny.

Wonderful when it works! Connection issues. For some reason this thing is terrible with connection issues! It’s constantly saying there was an error and unable to get video stream. So we grab the cheap camera we also have and use that one instead most of the time since this happens all day every day. With the app and with the device it comes with, it doesn’t connect. WiFi is full strength and right next to the baby camera and it still says it can’t get a signal when all other devices can. It doesn’t give an option to record on its own: you have to open the app and press record, then it gives me an error and says it can’t record because it lost connection. It would be nice to be able to put a memory card in for continuous recording so I can look back and see footage so I can see what my baby was up to. The temperature gauge is a little off and always says it’s warmer than it is. I’m not sure if it’s by the camera itself and that’s why it feels warmer next to the battery or because heat rises? Cry translator doesn’t pick up crying half the time or just says “cry is translating” and doesn’t actually translate. When it does translate, it’s incorrect at least half of the time for our baby. But maybe our baby is just different. Music feature is cool to use as a backup plan. It lets you record your own lullaby which is nice. The sensor for how long baby has been in bed and respiratory rate don’t really work either. Crib can be totally empty and it says baby is in there and breathing. Or says he’s in a light sleep when he’s awake and playing in the crib. Then when I put baby in the respiratory rate is way off. If anything in there has a pattern like sheets or his clothes or his mobile above the bed, I think it makes it harder for the sensor to detect baby. There’s also no alarm function if the respiratory rate is way too high or low. Not super helpful. We have an Owlet which does alarm so that’s fine for us. The night vision is really great and I can see baby clearly with it. You can use your phone to talk to baby but I don’t really use that since I’m close by anyway. I do love that it builds an encrypted channel, though, for privacy. That’s really great and worth dealing with connection issues. Overall I think it’s great, but could use some improvement with its poor connectivity issues and sensor accuracy, along with better recording options like motion detection or continuous with a memory card.

We bought this while on sale which made the price compatible with similar monitors on the market; now that we have been using it, I can confidently say I would have bought it at full price...especially considering you do not need to purchase a monthly membership (for the majority of the features) unlike many of its counterparts. The monitor was very easy to set up and readily attached to our SNOO (however someone else mentioned the AI cannot detect breathing rate when the SNOO is moving). Image quality is top notch. You can cary the physical monitor around the house and watch baby without Wifi, but can also use your phone to monitor baby from anywhere (like when grandma is babysitting or I am at work and pumping). Love that I can talk to baby from another room or from work as well. As a FTM I didn't realize babies were so active during "light sleep", The monitor will tell you if the baby is awake or in light sleep and has stopped me from accidentally waking my baby up and confusing their sleep noises from being a little fussy (especially in those first few weeks). The sleep dashboard is my favorite! It tells you how many hours the baby slept during each nap and a cumulative total for the day, we've been able to use this to recognize patterns in when baby wakes up and adjust our feeding schedule to get more sleep. My husband and I also alternate the night shift, and I use the sleep dashboard to see if baby had a good or bad night to decide if I need to wake up and help my husband with an early morning feed. The monitor will alert you if the room gets too warm or cold. As mentioned the cry interpretation feature seems pretty unreliable (we used the free trial period but did not pay to extend that feature). This is the only monitor we have ever used, but I love it! I was so confused when it came to purchasing a baby monitor so I hope this review helps someone...

I was really excited about this baby monitor since it has the app and the base unit. I have had it for 7 months and it was great in the beginning. I am now on my second monitor and about to be on my third monitor. I’m in the process of contacting support for the 5th time since buying it. Customer support is great, easy to contact and super nice. The product is not dependable and I’m wishing I’d gone with a different unit from the beginning.

upon opening the box everything seemed to be tightly secured in place. it is literally 3 parts to put together, super simple. i thought we were going to have trouble mounting the camera mount since our crib had a lip sticking out where the mount was supposed to be placed. that was not the case, it mounted perfectly and tightly. the entire installation took me around 10 minutes to get it just right and in the perfect place. upon the technical portion of this device, it was a little tricky but once figured out it, it is super easy. it has you download the app on your phone and create an account through phillips. unfortunately it doesn’t support 2 different accounts on one monitor but luckily my partner made an account and i was able to login to theirs. it lets you both be on the app at the same time! one thing we wanted was crystal clear quality on the monitor and that’s exactly what you get here. i have 2 different pictures with and without the lights on so you can see the quality. it is very good. the functionality of the monitor gives you many options to enable if you want to, but if you just want a basic monitor this is as good as it gets. the sound quality is really good. it is very loud if you need it to be. overall for the price of this baby monitor it is totally worth it if you want a little ease of mind for your baby. NO SOCK all wireless sleep and breathing tracking. this is a plus so your little one stays comfortable. my partner and i love this thing and we hope you will too!

we love this as our on the go baby camera when traveling as well as when the wifi goes out. have caught it on sale twice now and i’m very grateful to have these for the price.

I love the camera. It has a great quality and great features. I love to be able to see my baby’s breathing. Only thing disappointing is how bad the battery life for the monitor for the amount of money I paid. I can maybe use the monitor for max 2 hours other than that it’s always charging. It says we should be able to use it up to 12 hours but that was never the case.

This baby monitor was very easy to set up and has kept us updated on any and all movement in the nursery and upper floor. The app notifies us when it hears noise and provides detail on what it is (movement, cry, etc). It also notifies us if the temperature in the room doesn’t align with the target temperature we set. It was very easy to set up and link to the Avent app. We’re very pleased with the purchase.

We like this monitor a lot. The cry translation have helped us a lot as first time parents. As well as the breathing monitoring and the thing telling you if baby is in light or deep sleep
