These locks are excellent! I have them on my back door all the time. I use them at hotels and I travel often. Easy to use and very effective. The only drawback is that it must be an inward swinging door. So these do not work well on a cruise ship that generally has outward swinging doors. Very heavy duty and highly recommend other than that!

I was traveling and staying in a new location, other than a hotel. When you go into the room of a hotel there is an added security that you can lock from the inside. Even if someone has a key they can't get in with the added security. I was staying in an older building that had been converted to overnight accommodations and wasn't sure what kind of security I would find. The Guard Dog Security Blocklock worked quite well. The door only had a deadbolt lock and the Guard Dog gave me peace of mind. When I got home I left it in my suit case so I have it ready to go the next time I travel.

Didn't work on a recent hotel stay where the door fit the frame perfectly. This device is thick and won't fit a door that is tight to the frame, such as a fire door (which most are these days) or a weather door. Also, the stem is so short that it works best only on thin doors. On a thicker door, you can't get the latch around past the lock housing to close. The lock housing doesn't slide back far enough. I bought it because of simple operation but I'm switching to ASIN B08L7DNXT9 even though it can be confusing to opoerate in an emergency.

I’ve tried a few security type gadgets. This was easiest to use. Only downside is weight for travel. It’s a heavy piece of metal but maybe that adds to the effectiveness.

The lock doesn’t work properly with my door. When installed, it prevents the door from closing all the way so it can’t even be locked. Instead of making the door safer, it actually makes it easier to open since the door won’t shut correctly. It defeats the whole purpose of this device . The product itself seems sturdy but unfortunately it’s unusable for my setup. It isn’t compatible with all doors, keep that in mind before buying.
