TD21 2K 3MP Battery Doorbell Camera Wireless, Colour Night, IP65

Really love my Tapo doorbell. It was so easy to fit outside my door in my flat stairwell and I just love the integration with Alexa that means I was able to easily set up a routine to automatically trigger the video feed on my Echo Show devices whenever movement is detected. The video quality is high quality, works in a variety of lighting conditions and once I added a SD card for storing recordings locally it makes it a breeze to go back and review all the events that have triggered it over time - without having to pay for a subscription of any kind. The main thing you miss by not using "Tapo care" appears to be some AI detection functionality, but there is so much to this product that you really won't miss this. It's also very flexible in that you can adjust the sensitivity/range that triggers events, and you can also choose to have the doorbell automatically ring your phone, etc. when someone pushes the button - and I also like that when movement is triggered the small circle on the doorbell that surrounds the push-button illuminates to draw someone's attention to it. It's really easy to fit - I used the adhesive pads supplied, rather than the screw-in approach, and it has been rock-solid in terms of its adhesion now for months. And indeed the battery lasts an extremely long time - I typically only have to charge it once every few months (although if there are more events that trigger it to come to life then the charging cycle would be compressed). Mind you, even if you charge it more frequently, it takes moments to detach it from the fitting frame and then charge it up (using any USB-C charger). Overall, this is an extremely functional piece of security equipment. It connected to my WiFi without any difficulty whatsoever, has a great, highly intuitive app, and has been one of the best products in this area that I've bought - I just love the extra reassurance it offers so that I can see the stairwell outside my flat whenever I want (and I definitely believe it deters anti-social behaviour). Highly recommended.

A great little doorbell camera with a wide field of view and crisp clear recordings. Easy to set up and programme I would definitely recommend it and having had a Ring doorbell camera for the last 7 years I can honestly say that this is better and is cloud charge free. Set it up before you decide where to mount it as this gives you the best security coverage day and night.

been really impressed with the Tapo TD21 Battery Video Doorbell. The 2K 3MP video quality is sharp and clear, making it easy to recognise visitors and deliveries during both the day and at night. The colour night vision is a great feature and gives much better visibility than I expected. The installation was straightforward, and the Tapo app was quick to set up. I also like that it includes AI detection for people, pets, and vehicles helping to reduce unnecessary alerts. The two-way audio is clear, so it’s easy to speak with visitors even when I’m away from home. One of the biggest advantages is that you don’t need to pay a monthly subscription if you use a microSD card for local storage, which can save money over time. Overall, it’s an excellent combination of quality, features and value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable wireless video doorbell.

The video quality is very good and can be switched between 360p and 2K HD. There's an option to have full colour night vision which is a handy feature. The recording feature was easy to use but drains a lot of the battery (had this around 6 weeks and battery is already at 60%). It's also very sensitive and I kept getting notifications for "motion" when it was actually just a nearby tree branch blowing in the wind. This also drains a lot of battery but the sensitivity can be changed and mine is now at 1 whilst still detecting people and vechiles. It's AI detection feature is mostly accurate however sometimes it detects cars and vans as 'people motion', but again you can correct the event type in the app and this helps train the AI on future detection events. It is easy to set up with a setup guide within the app. I already have another Tapo camera in the app so it was easy to connect to wifi. I mounted this with my own adhesive stickers as the ones provided were not secure or strong enough, and even became non-sticky once removed from the wrapper. It is probably best attached with nails but if you have to attach it to a plastic door frame or brick like me, you'll need to buy seperate strong adhesive stickers. Overall this is a good all-round, first doorbell camera that has worked well for me. I bought this when on offer and it was £5 cheaper than another Tapo doorbell that looks similar but is actually the exact same just a different name (basically it is the same product but one is for the EU market and the other US market). It also comes with a doorbell chime that you plug-in which the ring volume and sound can be adjusted from the app. Tapo also has a range of features like Smart actions and community help forum.

So I have had a Ring doorbell for about 6 years. I have no problem with it but resent having to pay a separate subscription to keep recordings. They are expensive enough without having to pay too record footage. So I have loads of Tapo devices in the home from bulbs, cameras and plugs. All work in one app and all work really well. If you have Alexa you don’t have to do anything in the app. It just shows up ready once set up in Tapo app. So for the doorbell. It’s a weighty thing and feels solid. Video quality is excellent, easily on par with the Ring. The light ring has enough illumination to light up whoever is at the door in full colour and high definition at night. I like the fact when someone rings the doorbell, your phone announces it like a phone call (along with any smart speaker). You just answer like a facetime call (they can’t see you). Battery life has been really good considering mine is close to the path so gets plenty of foot traffic going by. I have set mine to only activate on people rather than everything, otherwise it would never stop recording. And there is the great thing about it. Stick a memory card in and all the recordings are there for you to view in the Tapo app. You can download them to your phone if you need to right from the app. If you want the added security of cloud backup, Tapo Care have you covered with different plans. I have a couple of Tapo security cameras I pay for backup on. But I’m getting two cameras backed up for the price I was Paying for one Ring camera. Oh and you get a wireless doorbell chime you can stick in any plug in the house. You pay extra for that with Ring. When I got it, it was on offer and only cost £35. Worth every penny.

I have finally found a doorbell that actually has very decent sound capabilities, great detection capabilities, and great connection. To those saying it only picks up when someone is by the door (which I found out was the case today), you can change this in settings by adjusting the range in wake up settings and adjusting sensitivity. This option also has a test feature, where you can adjust the range of detection whilst eg. walking up your driveway. I had my son walk up the driveway this evening, so I could adjust the setting to detect movement when they were at the end of my driveway. As with most door cams there is a delay between the person ringing the bell, then opening the app but this is due to the wireless connectivity over WiFi but personally I have the settings for this to come up as a ring call (see photo) and you can just press the tick to speak. If you want to access the app more quick if you need to view what’s going on outside then you can add a widget to your phone Home Screen which will give you the options to click on ‘Live’ or ‘playback’ (see photo). I think it’s good to have a thorough look through the settings and there’s a lot to this little gadget!! This is the first doorbell cam that I have had, that actually picks up birdsong unlike others that just seem to pick up wind sounds through the mic. The mic is totally clear and has fabulous clarity when someone is speaking to you via the door and the sound doesn’t drop out whilst doing so either. There is an option to leave a message for a caller at the door if you are out, or can’t answer within a certain time (this time is adjustable) and you can also record your own message - so if you are expecting a package but are in the bath, you can leave a message for driver to leave package at neighbours etc - superb idea! The view is wide yet doesn’t have that awful fishbowl look where everything is super curved. The picture during daylight is very good. The colour night mode is good with the cam internal light on but when the street lights go out, it’s not as good but it’s perfect if you have a porch light or the area is lit up (it’s very dark here where I live after midnight). I have included photos of infrared with porch light on and off along with colour mode with porch light on and off with cam light only. Attached is day mode too. Black and white night mode is good but I think once again, that depends on the general light at night - it hasn’t got the same clarity as day mode obviously, but it’s still good and clear. On playback, it highlights the area where motion was detected so you don’t have to search the video for the movement. Theres also an option to press an icon to record or take a photo during live or playback. There is a wedge attachment included in the package if the door cam needs setting at an angle, along with a flat plate. Also it comes with a set of screws or a sticky pad attachment, charger, and chime. It was very easy to set up to WiFi/chime/alexa. The chime is a plug in, so there’s no need to worry about constantly changing the batteries. The connectivity to WiFi is very strong and I have no issues with that at all. Overall it is a good security measure and a fantastic price for the features, functionality and their quality. I have spent more money on previous door cams but this one is cheaper and way worth the money. I didn’t know about tapo prior to this, but I will be purchasing more of their products based on the quality of this doorbell cam. I’m very impressed. BUT - I think the AI part needs work, as when I switched all detections on (pets, humans, vehicles) it went a bit crazy and detecting things that weren’t there - this could of course be user error as there are options to adjust sensitivity and this is something I haven’t played around with yet. If I work it out, I will adjust this review accordingly. I have opted to turn those off and just use general motion detection and it seems perfect. I was going to only give it 4 stars due to the AI but the quality and features, in comparison to all my other door cams, is second to none so certainly deserves the 5!! =========================== UPDATE: this door cam worked perfectly the first week. Sadly the second week it went awry and would only detect something on your doorstep or when the app was open. Also the recording buffer time stopped working. I tried multiple settings/reboot/remove/reinstall but certain functions wouldn’t work correctly. The AI was detecting my static car on the drive. It stopped detecting movement in the road and even when I was pulling onto my drive, it didn’t detect until I was standing at the doorstep. However, I reached out to Tapo via the app, who said it was a faulty sensor (Tapo were pretty rapid with the responses but they did seem like cut & paste in tone). I had already tried everything they recommended. So, I’ve purchased the same model and returning this one. Keeping the five stars for now and hope that the new cam doesn’t have the same issue, as this is a fab little device.

Bought this for the in-laws. Easy set up, easy app to use, brilliant picture, fast response times from ringing bell to being alerted. You can answer from your phone and sound is good. Captures every movement. Love it. It’s really good!

This doorbell camera was super easy to install, though I did have issues with initial charging as the light would flicker on and then go off so I wasn't sure it was actually charging. When I came to switch it on, it said it had 100% so I'm assuming it was charging but the light was not staying lit. The installation was super easy, and it can be mounted with adhesive to any smooth surface. The image resolution is crystal clear, and the voice function works well. During the past month of use, the camera battery has dropped to 68%, so I can expect maybe 2-2 and a half months of battery life before needing a charge, which is pretty good. The motion detection is decent, though if you have it set too sensitive it will keep sending notifications and this will drain the battery life. The other way round, if it is not sensitive enough it might not pick up events at all. Overall, I think this is a very decent doorbell camera for the price and it gives us peace of mind for parcel deliveries etc when we are not at home.

Great doorbell and very good price from Amazon UK. Video is high quality and seems to have good battery life. I had to purchase a cheap UK to AU power adapter for the door chime but that's no problem.
