TD21 2K 3MP Battery Doorbell Camera Wireless, Colour Night, IP65

A great little doorbell camera with a wide field of view and crisp clear recordings. Easy to set up and programme I would definitely recommend it and having had a Ring doorbell camera for the last 7 years I can honestly say that this is better and is cloud charge free. Set it up before you decide where to mount it as this gives you the best security coverage day and night.

been really impressed with the Tapo TD21 Battery Video Doorbell. The 2K 3MP video quality is sharp and clear, making it easy to recognise visitors and deliveries during both the day and at night. The colour night vision is a great feature and gives much better visibility than I expected. The installation was straightforward, and the Tapo app was quick to set up. I also like that it includes AI detection for people, pets, and vehicles helping to reduce unnecessary alerts. The two-way audio is clear, so it’s easy to speak with visitors even when I’m away from home. One of the biggest advantages is that you don’t need to pay a monthly subscription if you use a microSD card for local storage, which can save money over time. Overall, it’s an excellent combination of quality, features and value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable wireless video doorbell.

The major faults starting from worst imo are 1. the claimed battery life is total BS. No one is getting that, according to forums 3 months is the max if using it with frugal settings. I estimate 6 weeks once fully bedded down. 2. The 2k Resolution is technically true but the compression means it probably closer to 0.5k, when you zoom in to faces its resolving power is faeces. 3. Poor automation options. All you get is switching privacy mode on our off. You can't have different auto responses depending on time of day for example. (You do get to make your own recordings which many others don't offer at any price) 4. While the chime is excellent (and cute) I have had the chime go but the phone call didn't come through. Not a delay it just didn't come through at all. Possibly thats my phone's fault, TBF, but it should come in late if that's the case🤔. 5. It's kinda big compared to many others - overhangs my door post by a touch Loads of good things to say especially the excellent value coming with a chime and angled wedge which could add an extra £30 - 50 with other brands, it's from a respected brand (tp link), works well with Google home/nest, and on balance I wouldn't choose another. I did do extensive research beforehand but it seems most YouTubers get their gear for free I guess and feel positive bias. otherwise they would mention the flaws I've given here.

Picture is really sharp for the price. Really like that I can use a memory card rather than a subscription. Easy to attach anywhere with what comes in the box (3m sticking is a good job. Works well day and night too. Takes a wee bit to get the sensitivity right, but worth taking the time. Can also set up notifications and answer with your phone.

This door bell with camera, on recieving and unwrapping this camera door bell, it felt good quality. There are two ways you can install on your door, drill or stick to your door frame or anywhere around your front door. We chose to stick it and not drill, it is very good and secure. The instructions explain where to position your bell to ensure it works effectively. It has technology that enables you the user only to remove to recharge the battery. The app again is easy to set up and navigate, I am of an age that apps and technology are not my go to; however this was so easy and easy to view. The quality of view is exceptional so clear and shows all of the person at your door. You can also speak to them after they ring the door bell which then ensures they know what to do, wait for you or leave a parcel at the door or somewhere more specific to you. I would highly recommend this camera door bell its quality with an affordable price tag.

I have finally found a doorbell that actually has very decent sound capabilities, great detection capabilities, and great connection. To those saying it only picks up when someone is by the door (which I found out was the case today), you can change this in settings by adjusting the range in wake up settings and adjusting sensitivity. This option also has a test feature, where you can adjust the range of detection whilst eg. walking up your driveway. I had my son walk up the driveway this evening, so I could adjust the setting to detect movement when they were at the end of my driveway. As with most door cams there is a delay between the person ringing the bell, then opening the app but this is due to the wireless connectivity over WiFi but personally I have the settings for this to come up as a ring call (see photo) and you can just press the tick to speak. If you want to access the app more quick if you need to view what’s going on outside then you can add a widget to your phone Home Screen which will give you the options to click on ‘Live’ or ‘playback’ (see photo). I think it’s good to have a thorough look through the settings and there’s a lot to this little gadget!! This is the first doorbell cam that I have had, that actually picks up birdsong unlike others that just seem to pick up wind sounds through the mic. The mic is totally clear and has fabulous clarity when someone is speaking to you via the door and the sound doesn’t drop out whilst doing so either. There is an option to leave a message for a caller at the door if you are out, or can’t answer within a certain time (this time is adjustable) and you can also record your own message - so if you are expecting a package but are in the bath, you can leave a message for driver to leave package at neighbours etc - superb idea! The view is wide yet doesn’t have that awful fishbowl look where everything is super curved. The picture during daylight is very good. The colour night mode is good with the cam internal light on but when the street lights go out, it’s not as good but it’s perfect if you have a porch light or the area is lit up (it’s very dark here where I live after midnight). I have included photos of infrared with porch light on and off along with colour mode with porch light on and off with cam light only. Attached is day mode too. Black and white night mode is good but I think once again, that depends on the general light at night - it hasn’t got the same clarity as day mode obviously, but it’s still good and clear. On playback, it highlights the area where motion was detected so you don’t have to search the video for the movement. Theres also an option to press an icon to record or take a photo during live or playback. There is a wedge attachment included in the package if the door cam needs setting at an angle, along with a flat plate. Also it comes with a set of screws or a sticky pad attachment, charger, and chime. It was very easy to set up to WiFi/chime/alexa. The chime is a plug in, so there’s no need to worry about constantly changing the batteries. The connectivity to WiFi is very strong and I have no issues with that at all. Overall it is a good security measure and a fantastic price for the features, functionality and their quality. I have spent more money on previous door cams but this one is cheaper and way worth the money. I didn’t know about tapo prior to this, but I will be purchasing more of their products based on the quality of this doorbell cam. I’m very impressed. BUT - I think the AI part needs work, as when I switched all detections on (pets, humans, vehicles) it went a bit crazy and detecting things that weren’t there - this could of course be user error as there are options to adjust sensitivity and this is something I haven’t played around with yet. If I work it out, I will adjust this review accordingly. I have opted to turn those off and just use general motion detection and it seems perfect. I was going to only give it 4 stars due to the AI but the quality and features, in comparison to all my other door cams, is second to none so certainly deserves the 5!! =========================== UPDATE: this door cam worked perfectly the first week. Sadly the second week it went awry and would only detect something on your doorstep or when the app was open. Also the recording buffer time stopped working. I tried multiple settings/reboot/remove/reinstall but certain functions wouldn’t work correctly. The AI was detecting my static car on the drive. It stopped detecting movement in the road and even when I was pulling onto my drive, it didn’t detect until I was standing at the doorstep. However, I reached out to Tapo via the app, who said it was a faulty sensor (Tapo were pretty rapid with the responses but they did seem like cut & paste in tone). I had already tried everything they recommended. So, I’ve purchased the same model and returning this one. Keeping the five stars for now and hope that the new cam doesn’t have the same issue, as this is a fab little device.

Bought to replace my previous different branded camera doorbell that would no longer charge, I have previous had 3 video doorbell over the last 10 (ish) years including a Ring doorbell but didn't get on with it and did not like the extortionate subscription for the Ring bell as well as having to purchase chimes seperately. Recieved the item yesterday and so far so good. Comes with a camera doorbell and plug in chime that works very well. It is very easy to set up and link to home WiFi and phones, you can have more than 1 phone linked to the camera but the other person is not able to edit the settings (not a problem for us), we just wanted something we can both access. Battery life seems good but a little early to tell, picture quality is great, it looks great and much more expensive than it was, appears sturdy. It was easy to install, not able to comment on the adhesive pads as we fix to the wall with a drill, good motion detection, great 180 degree view adding security. I am yet to identify any negatives, I would recommend this product to others.

Persze. Íme egy rövid, kiegyensúlyozott, de határozott review angolul: I’ve been disappointed with the reliability of the Tapo Doorbell. As a doorbell, it works well, and the image quality is good. It has a wide field of view and the night vision is clear. However, as a security camera, I can’t rely on it. The biggest issue is motion and person detection. I have another camera covering the same area, and it reliably detects people. For example, at 4:36 AM it detected and recorded a person walking past my driveway. At exactly the same time, the Tapo Doorbell detected nothing—no motion, no person, and no recording was saved at all. Unfortunately, this isn’t just a problem with the doorbell. I also own a Tapo camera, and its motion detection is inconsistent as well, especially at night. Another major issue is the Wi-Fi connection. The doorbell frequently disconnects from my Eero 6 router. When it goes offline, it doesn’t detect motion or record anything, even though recordings are stored locally. In contrast, my other security camera can continue recording locally if the Wi-Fi connection drops. Because of these issues, I cannot recommend the Tapo Doorbell as a security camera. It’s fine as a video doorbell, but if reliable motion detection and security recording are important to you, especially at night, it is not dependable.

Great doorbell and very good price from Amazon UK. Video is high quality and seems to have good battery life. I had to purchase a cheap UK to AU power adapter for the door chime but that's no problem.
