Guayusa Plants

SO, I bought this plant.Some advise is that, this plant is a South American Rainforest Plant. Acidic soil is typically Rainforest soil. When my plant arrived, the stem was dark brown in some areas, and, all of the leaves had dark tips on them. I know from experience that growing unusual plants is tough. A plentiful perlite mix, with iron pellets, and Azaelia : Acidic soil (excuse my mispelling of Azaelia, it may be incorrect) have provided for my plant. Don't forget some lightly distributed fertilizer mixed up in the soil, all mixed with water, before putting in a new pot. I use an artificial plant light, and I keep the plant in a warm indoor room.The first leaves that came with the plant have all slowly died and fallen off. My new soil and light, with delicate watering, has provided for the plant to grow a rich, glowing green stem and many new leaves. I know that Gatekeeper is trying to grow these plants healthy, so I felt that this review may help Gatekeeper grow healthier, richer plants. Also, direct, hot day sunlight will cause a newly planted Guayusa leaves to oxidize and turn dark brown, black. My Guayusa is growing leaves fast, without any black tips on the leaves.I hope this helps Gatekeeper, and any customers who are interested in growing these shamanic tea plants. By the shipping and plant quality I would give this a lower review, but I know how difficult keeping healthy exotic plants can be. I had to learn from heartbreak dealing with plants I tried to grow without enough knowledge and those died! That's why I'm giving Gatekeeper five stars and this advice for Gatekeeper and customers! Packaged well and arrived pretty healthy. I printed out the advice that I saw the seller give to another customer and took it to the master gardeners at my local nursery. They helped me buy a new pot and the right dirt as well as some plant food. Happy to say that this guayusa plant is thriving and I live in the PNW. It's already grown two new leaves! I highly recommend this seller, quality plant.Update: it's thriving. Many new leaves at the top and two new offshoots at the bottom.

I ordered a plant and it arrived a couple of days ago.I’m not sure what happened, but when I got it there were dark splotches on the leaves.I then put it on my window sill inside behind some my dwarf grapes because I heard it likes shade. I live in the desert, so there was probably some shock going from humidity to dry.I was so excited about my new guayusa plant.But now the leaves are drying up and turning crisp, and they’re falling off.I’m sad to think my little plant is probably going to die, this is more than likely not the fault of the sellers, but rather my own carelessness. It would be nice to see if GB has a facebook page or some other way to contact him to ensure that his customers’ plants are happy and living and for them to ask questions they need answered. Though this has no bearing on my rating whatsoeverUpdate: GB replied to the questions I may have and gave me information I was asking for within a day or two. It’s amazing to see that someone finally selling something that no one else carries.I really appreciate it. I’ll order a new one and see if I can take the proper precautions.

I would root them a little more, a couple of mine were barely rooted. Heavenly-Products website has cuttings and very well rooted.

When it arrived, there were 2 leaves that were in the packaging, but none on the plant. I repotted and placed under a clear some. The tip of the plant continued to dry and die, and then plant (stem) began to turn black. Pic is of the fresh arrival.

Shipping was super quick and the guayusa plant looks great! The seller gave me detailed advice on how to keep it healthy and he was quick to answer any questions I had.

I have attempted to plant this and with three purchases all three failed and rotted away. Maybe it's the timing of the plant? I pulled apart the rotted plants and none of them had roots

wonderful plants. Just as pictured. Fast shipping. A little pricey or I'd order many more. Probably still will. :)
