A watched bot misses the spot, but turn your back and it's gone!
A watched bot misses the spot... so many times I see it running and it JUST missed a piece of lint, over and over... and then I come back 15 minutes later and it's gone! Lots of negative reviews from people who seem to have not understood that this is a random motion robot. Keeping your expectations in line and realizing that even with a random pattern the whole house will eventually be covered every few days and this is an amazing little helper. I actually wanted a "dumb" robot because I didn't want an internet connected device because I care about my network security, and many consumer grade IOT devices have very poor security. I bought two very similar vacuums, one for downstairs and one for upstairs. We have very dark laminate flooring downstairs and it felt like even if I vacuumed regularly there'd still be stuff showing up shortly after I completed my cleaning. I'd do a whole house vacuum every week, but it still felt like I couldn't keep up, so I initially bought this one (the 11S+) for the downstairs laminate. I loved it so much that I bought an 11S Max for upstairs just a short time later. Since the 11S Max is so similar, I'll combine details from both in this review as they're relevant here too. For context, this is in a household with two long-haired adults, no kids, no pets. Downstairs on laminate and tile flooring with only an area rug and fairly basic furniture the device has worked perfectly. It got stuck once on day two in a corner where I had some chairs stacked up and gained the nickname "Waldo"... "Wall-e, the garbage collecting robot... got stuck... where is he? Where's Waldo?!", but hasn't gotten stuck anywhere since and always finds its way home. Every day at lunchtime I come downstairs from my home office and empty the bin and I'm shocked by how much stuff is in it, wondering how I ever lived in such dirty conditions! haha After deciding that this was the best thing ever I bought another for upstairs on the carpeted floors. Things are a bit different there. It seems that every single room upstairs has an obstacle that it doesn't like, and I've had to do a LOT more robot-proofing. In the master bedroom it found its way into the walk-in closet and got tangled on a shirt that had a long string-like fringe and got stuck. In the master bedroom it gets up on the legs of the drying rack and makes a LOT of noise going over them, repeatedly. In the hall guest bedroom it got stuck under the bed that had JUST enough clearance for it to get under, but not get back out. In each of the home offices it gets hung up on the desk legs. In my home office it gets hung up on the legs of my music stand. One night it started beeping after going a touch too far over the edge of the stairs and not being able to back up. It's strange how the downstairs robot can go about its business daily w/o any problem, and the upstairs one has a problem in every single room. I'm gradually going around and finding ways to deal with the problem room by room (e.g. 3d printed bumpers on my desk legs), but it has been a bit more of a challenge. Like the downstairs robot it's SHOCKING how much crap the thing picks up every day, even after a deep vacuuming with our Sebo D4. Being as this one gets stuck so often it got the nickname Dodo. I still love it, and it keeps things cleaner, but does require a lot more babysitting. With time I expect it'll get better as I've been making and adding guards here and there to keep it away from areas where it shouldn't be. A note about the long hair mentioned before: On day 1 I tested the upstairs one before a deep-vacuuming, after about 2 weeks of not doing one and it got REALLY REALLY tangled with hair, but I did a deep vacuuming with the real vacuum and since then it has kept up enough that hair has not been a problem at all. Pros: Very quiet, good coverage (I seldom see a missed spot), picks up a crazy amount of stuff even when you think there's nothing for it to find, cheap maintenance parts, easy setup, no apps nor wifi connectivity to phone home and potentially compromise your home network. Cons: None if your house is robot-proof, some people may have zero problems, some might have a LOT of problems.

Pleasantly Surprised
I was skeptical about this when I bought it. Didn’t have high hopes but it is doing a really good job. It vacuums great and it’s crazy how good the mopping is. It mapped my house fast and it was accurate. I have hardwood floors with some area rugs and it does a great job going between mop and vacuum. I like that after I assigned rooms on the map I could tell it to do a double mop/vacuum for my kitchen and hallway since they get the dirtiest. It has a dust bag instead of a canister for the dirt. I love that because I have a shark robot vacuum and it has the canister and a filter that gets dirty and you have to keep cleaning them. So the dust bag is a big reason I initially bought this. I Am really happy with this purchase.

It works but more was anticipated
I always do my research when making any purchase like this; appliance. After reading Consumer Reports reviews and online reviews felt this Eufy G30 Edge was the best product, especially at $199 on a Black Friday sale. One of the descriptions for this unit indicates "The Right Way to Clean. The Path Tracking Sensor ensures that G30 Edge adapts to changes of surface while remaining on the most efficient route to clean each room. From carpet to hard-floor the right path is always taken." However, this thing had no real pattern flow it followed. Did not adapt well. In some areas it did complete lines from wall to wall. In other rooms it would start in lines, however, when it would bump into a piece of furniture, like a leg, it would take on a path to go around the leg but then take on a slightly different path. Because it gets off track some open spots in one room were never cleaned, area about 3' x 3'. The mapping, I agree with others, not a great effective or accurate mapping of my rooms. It gets most of it correct but not 100% accurate. Some of this might be because this is the first time using. Hopefully as it learns the floor plan it will get better. It covered 452 sq ft in 56 minutes. Which means if it is supposed to return to charger when it drops to 80% battery we should get an hour run for each cleaning section. Based on area of our home we want cleaned it should take 2 to 3 attempts or hours to cleaning with charging time in-between. Not sure about charging time but will find out. Two times the unit ended up getting stuck; first time, unit was covering a mid plush carpet, it rolled over a floor air vent and got stuck. Second time, in my home office it rolled under a recliner chair which has about a 4 inch clearance at the front but only 2 or so inches in the back. As the chair angle slopes the unit got stuck going underneath towards the back and I had to pull it out. In both cases when I pulled the unit out from being stuck and placed the unit away from the "stuck" area, about a foot or so away and the unit acted like it did not know where it was. It ended up cleaning an area already covered for a few minutes and the rolled away from the area cleaning into a new area. All in all, initially, I am not as impressed as the marketing tends to sell you on, but that is typically their job, make things better, bigger, smarter than it really is, right? It works from a general sense, but I wish it would worked a little better. If you can get it for the black Friday special price it is probably a decent purchase, but I would never pay the full $350 price tag on this unit. One thing mention, again a marketing pitch, "Anti-Collision Sensor 9 anti-collision, infrared sensors help RoboVac to avoid bumping into obstacles so it can clean non-stop without extra help from you." It bumps into everything. It actually bumps into the wall, a piece of furniture or whatever, then it will hug that wall or other item and will continually move along the wall and bump it, turn out, bump again, turn out, etc... as if it is trying to learn the floor area. However, it never turns away prior to bumping. I give it a 2 only because it does clean and my wife and I don't have to. At least for all the little things. It still misses a few little things if they are too close to a wall. It also missed picking up a piece of 2-3 inch string on the carpet. I have it set to the strongest suction level and it still missed the string and a few other small pieces of lint or other items in the carpet that were easy to see. Update: the past two times we have used it, the thing wants to not go in straight lines in a room. It has determined now where all walls are, but to go back and forth from one wall then straight across to the other wall it goes on a diagonal. So by the time it goes across a room approximately 13 feet wide, it typically is off by about 8 to 10 inches, haven't actually measured, but no straight lines. One positive, we have found that with each cleaning in the house it picks up quite a bit of dust and things on the floor. Dec 29, 2021 - Update: Dropping rating to a 1. Would probably give it a 0 (zero) or negative if I could, but as I have observed it additional times as well as reading other reviews, it appears this is not as great of a machine as you would expect from the marketing/advertising they provide. It basically does not retrace old patterns in rooms. As mentioned before once it has learned our rooms and layout multiple times now you would think it would know the rooms and working in straight lines. It does anything but work in straight lines or previous patterns. In fact see attached as to what it did while attempting to clean a simple hallway area today. It would not cross over the entire hall area from wall to wall, and seemed to be lost in the way it behaved. This machine needs a big overhaul on the digital or gps or memory functions, or maybe all three. About the only thing it does really well, is that it announces when it is about to clean and when it is heading home to charge. Not a single map has been the same, and as you look at the maps you can see how the hallways and rooms don't align the same from map to map. Although this was a great price for BlackFriday, down from $350 to $199, there is no real value in any sale if the product doesn't work as designed and marketed to work. I would recommend spending a little more or find one that does the job that you intend it to do upon purchase, regardless of the prices you pay, $150 or $700, there has to be better ones than this. Another bad thing about this as well, is that Consumer Reports rates this model and name brand as one of the better robot vacuums. Will need to start reconsidering what I read on CR.

Eufy, our new robots name in our house, is wonderful. Why? To find out Read on..... this is genuine review from a guy who hardly writes reviews..... Worked out the box by following the very simple easy to read ‘quick guide’ ..... in essence you plug in the base station against a wall in a clear space , take out two foam packing plugs, remove the sticker over the on/off switch, put batteries in the remote and off he goes. Eufy needs 2m straight ahead of him, and 1m to the side of the base station. But I can only get 1m on one side and about 500mm on the other with 2m in front and he finds his way back to bed without any problem. The guidance system works well and all Modes seem sensible and work well, as does the WiFi, phone App, and remote. All basically plug and play and I am 53 yr old techphobe. It was easy, and done in a few mins, and he was cleaning our floor. The collection box needs to be emptied regularly, for us this is every day with three teenagers, three cats two dogs and a lively outdoor life. Teenagers and dogs soon ignored our new robot, but our cats are still wary and staying out of its way. Suction and cleaning power. We swept the floor just before Eufy arrived, and he came three weeks early, so we did not have a dirty floor..... he effectively was tried out on a visually clean floor.... how wrong we were. If I knew how to add a photo you would be amazed as were we. The volume of dog and cat hair and fine dust was amazing after just the fun of trying out the different functions. After the 1am full clean the collection box was FULL! Even after a sweep and 30mins clean while testing Eufy out. The edge function is good, as are all the functions. On standard setting Eufy is quiet, really quiet, not as noisy as our dishwasher and much quieter than our washing machine. The noise does not really change when put on the middle vacuum setting; on the Max setting noise is about same as our new Shark vacuum, which is quiet for a vacuum..... it is quiet. Do not leave this review thinking of the single problem I found this morning. I set Eufy off on the 30min quick clean setting while I made coffee, just to see how much more dirt he could find. He didn’t appear for a while, so I looked behind our kitchen counter and he was stuck (Mating) on our bar stool, which has a wide sloping base and single post holding the seat. It seems if he comes at the post straight on he can’t get away, just keeps bumping into the post at top of wide ramped base. If he clips the base he just powers on over (as he does with edges of the rug, door strip etc.... Eufy takes the rough with the smooth no problem). With ALL other furniture, even the sleeping dog, Eufy just finds a way around. I have not used the customer support yet but If they are as good as Eufy is they will be great. If you are looking for a RoboVac, this one works out if the box and you don’t need a computer degree to get him off and sucking!!! Graeme and Sam Update - a couple of weeks in, and Eufy has just become part of our life. Floors are clean, just clean all the time. Even the large rug by the back door that used to be covered in god hair at end of each day, and hard to clean. Now it’s just clean. The lack of dog and cat hair on the floor means SO much less on our cloths. We get about half a box of hair and dirt each morning now, and floor is clean clean clean. I put chairs up before bed so Eufy has a more clear run, but if I forget, it’s still clean in the morning. This robo-vac simply works as it says straight out of the box. If you want one get this one. Graeme and Sam.

Edit: Support has reached out to make it right, they have replaced the entire unit and the new one is flawless. Does a great job of cleaning, wish it had better objext avoidance but it does a good job regardless. Original: Vacuum mode works great but the mop disposal is broken, says "abnormal water level in dirty tank" and refuses to continue. So far support has been stone walling me with questions and canned support responses asking for videos of the unit, when the issue is internal while docked. Want to love it but can't even test it properly. Edit: Been days since contact and 0 help from Eufy after intial "send us proof" Avoid this product/company and get something reliable since support won't help out.
