Incredible build, challenging
Very in depth build, not for the faint of heart. Also, don’t buy this for a child unless you plan to build it for them and then rebuild it over and over. Honestly, I’m impressed by the quality. Most of the pieces fit tightly together. So much so that my fingers hurt. The little hammer they send with it is fantastic. I was missing 2-3 pieces but in a 4000+ piece set, I’m not surprised. Nothing that kept me from finishing it. One notable issue was the sails. They sent the incorrect quantity so I have a few that were too small. The bow detail and the area with the fire is incredible but very fragile. I do have an issue with the amount of pieces you have to put together in this. Where Lego would make an individual piece, Mould King will have two smaller pieces that need to be put together. The one major problem I have with this build is that there’s multiple compartments in the ship with no real way to access them. Lego usually makes tops easily removable but no such luck here. Easily one of the most complicated builds I’ve done. The amount of pieces that are the same color and the sheer amount of bags needed was crazy. The instructions aren’t like Lego but as long as you take your time you should be able to figure it out. It adds a bit of a challenge to the build. I will absolutely buy more from this company.

Large and beautiful ship. Fun too.
For a kit with loads of pieces, it went together perfectly. It took a long time to finish and it had all the pieces plus several extra smaller pieces. Only had to use the glue on a few pieces at various locations. The pieces fit perfectly but some had stress that caused it to easily be removed by touching. It is a huge kit after completed and was loads of fun. The colors varied throughout the pieces and it makes a great replica to the original ship. There were numerous parts that are functional by moving or opening/closing. Plus, there were cords to replicate the ropes between the masts and deck. It didn't have the usual LEGO look to it, as it was mostly covered and looked great. For the price, it is well worth the purchase and the fun involved putting it together.

So far so good!
Half way through, no extra or missing pieces yet. Totally agree with other reviews on fragile areas, a spot of glue works wonders on those spots. Single post areas are especially a problem but again a dot of glue helps. A small thin bladed eyeglass repair screwdriver is super helpful for fixing or redoing some issues you may encounter. Take your time, this is not something to bust out over a weekend and definitely not for little kids/impatient teens or adults. The instruction book is really clear and detailed BUT the pages are thin and can stick a wee bit. Check your page number when you move towards the next page. Have fun!

I Highly Recommend!!! However a few details to know 1st.
I am TORN... Because I want to give this 5 Stars it was a TON of fun to put together but I have a few issues that made me give it a 4/5 star review. 1) This thing looks great but it is SUPER fragile. The front end and back area on top by the main steering wheel are so flimsy, I cannot imagine a 14 yr old kid playing with this and it surviving. 2) Once you get to bag number 7 the pics of the instructions on page 107 made me think I was missing parts, because all the pieces are a shade of brown, and I ran out of the darker brown pieces, I ended up using black pieces I had of my own (thinking I would need the lighter ones for stairs later on), and later I realized I had spare pieces but they were from this step. So I thought I had missing pieces and they did include them, but the instructions were not clear on this. 3) The Back end Hinges for page 145 on the Instructions were TRASH touch the area heck breath on it and it falls apart. I ended up rebuilding this with regular Extra Lego Pieces so it holds together. It cannot have the "tilt" I think they are going for but it holds together. If you do buy this or receive this as a gift just DO not use the hinges and build it with regular bricks and plates instead. 4) On page 159 of the Instruction Manual step 326 and 332 asks you to place a Light brown sliding piece but later in the build if you placed this plate you CANNOT attach the entire plate piece you built because this smooth button is placed. So if you follow the Instructions to the letter the build is impossible. I had to simply remove this smooth button and proceed with the build, and I am not sure my 14 Yr old son would have done this. I "helped him with this build" and I use Help very liberal here I basically built the thing for him, because this was too complex for someone that age. 5) Step 339 has you just click this heavy front end Piece to the bottom of the hull, its held again by a small hinge piece, and would fall off from its own weight. I had to super glue this part together and it’s the only area I did this on the entire build. I am so against super gluing anything together, but the cheap hinge design here needed some help, and was worth sacrificing a hinge especially since I got like 5 back from removing the hinges earlier; just too much is placed on the hinges to work well. 6) The rigging is too tedious for a 14 yr old kid and again if they did manage to finish it they would wreck it moving/playing with it. Overall this was a lot of fun and a GREAT baseline if you want a MOC copy of the Flying Dutchman Ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean. However I do not think the age was right at 14+ and there were a few areas the company could improve upon like snap on rigging and the areas I mentioned above. I am fairly new to Lego, (like just bought this and one other set this month) The Queen Anne’s Revenge (also made by the same company,) and I think this one looks more impressive, but the Queen Anne’s Revenge is more suited to being played with. So if you have a few spare Legos around, and have the patience and know how, this set is AMAZING…Overall I am VERY satisfied with my purchase and the price; just note it’s not easy and more of a fun model than a child’s toy. P.S. I placed the ship on a different plate to show size and contrast that is two large blue Lego sheets and the ships dwarfs them!!! its Super cool to look at once done!

Got this for my 24 year old son and he loves it! Said it’s just as good at Legos!!

Amazing!
I wish I had known there were off brand legos that are just as good for a fraction of the price. Im pitting together the flying Dutchman and its unbelievable how good it is. If this was a lego set at 4300 pieces it would of been 400 or more. On sale for 144. I highly recommend!!!!

Waste of money and time, lots of frustration
This is a horrible mess, the design is flawed, the instructions are inaccurate. Once you finally figure it out, the front of the ship is so heavy the the lower half can’t hold the weight, and pieces fall off every single time. Missing pieces and no response from seller. I’ve replaced this twice, and both times it was a disaster. I’ve built lots of ships from various designs and this is by far the worst, and no matter how you do it, it will never work, and will fall apart every time, if you even get all the pieces. No customer service response despite sending 4 emails, two replacements and wasted countless hours. Don’t waste your money

This was a decent build. The quality of pieces is ok. Obviously not as good as Lego, but decent. A few negatives - there were a few missing pieces, nothing major because I had extra lego bricks that I used, but not good if someone did not have extras. - the way some of the large parts were designed to fit together are dumb, because the connecting piece is not strong enough to hold the weight of the larger piece. - some of the bricks have to be put together themselves, which was very strange and very unnessicary - lastly, some areas of the build are very fragile, I mean there only held by one link and a small bump can knock it off. Overall, for the price it's a good build. I mean, something like this in Lego brand would be over 1000dollars.
