This rain gauge is awesome! Well made. Easy to install. The water chamber is large with easy to read scale. It’s incredibly simple to life to chamber out of the holder and empty the water.

Extremely inaccurate. You need to multiple whatever you read by .52 to get the correct amount of rain. The tube is 1 5/8 inches and the outer ring at the top is 2 1/4 inches. The outer ring is cupped to funnel the water into the tube. The measurements are not scaled for this. 1 inch on the tub is really 1 inch which would be correct if it only collected the rain from a 1 5/8 inch opening. It is collecting it from the 2 1/4 inch opening. During a recent rain I had my old rain gauge that I trusted 1 foot away from this one and I had 2 inches of ran in this one and 1.05 inches in the old one. Everything else about this item I like, but this is not a rain gauge as it does not come close to accurately measuring rain.

I have had this rain gauge for one year. I bought it because my previous one was not made of ‘Freeze Proof Plastic’ and cracked. I live in Eastern Virginia. It gets cold here, but not usually below 15 degrees at the coldest. We are about to expect rain, so went out to retrieve the gauge and clean it out and discovered it was cracked almost from top to bottom! So, it is not “freeze proof.” I like this product because of it’s base and easy to read graduations. I will buy this one more time, but next winter I will take it in for the season.

Very Nice We Love It

As others have stated, out of the packaging this unit is not accurate at all. 1.9" of rain in a proven accurate gauge measured 2.9" in this one. However, I used a hacksaw to cut it off just below the flared rim and it now reads perfectly! I do like the larger the size and the blue background up to the water level. Makes it easy to read from inside the house. With a little self modification its not a bad unit.

Large numbers make it easy to read and it is nice having the choice , of either mounting it on a pole , or putting in the ground

I am very happy with my purchase of the rain gauge. I mounted it on the aluminum deck railing with double sided alien tape. The scale is very easy to read from the patio doors. We accumulated so much rain the first week in Alberta the level went over the seven inch increment.

Not accurate at all! This rain gauge showed 3" when my old one showed 2" (the old one is proofed to be accurate)
