Just wondering if it’s gonna take the weight?** A: I have a Guild Starfire hanging on one, which is no lightweight. All I would say is make sure the bracket is the right way around on it's wooden base, there is a sticker that says "pull" which allows you to spin it round so the holder is angled up & the guitar weight activates the lock. Also mine (I have 4) are screwed into brick, the instructions do point out the other options but on a personal view point I would try & locate the timber studding behind any plasterboard wall to hang your nice LP on. **Q: what is the spacing between the pre-drilled holes on the wood mounting plate (will replace previous version & I want to use the existing drill holes)** A: It is 70mm from centre to centre. **Q: Would this hold a cello** A: I would say yes as my guitars are approx 4.5 to 5 kilos as long and as your fixings are secure. the distance away from cello body to neck might be an issue as its only 10 cm from wall to back of guitar. Although there are cheaper alternatives, the pricing of these seems very reasonable upon opening the box and seeing the quality of the holder. The construction is a combination of a wooden mounting block (nicely varnished), with a metal post which the hanger mechanism is mounted on. The hanger mechanism is mostly plastic, with foam pads that contact the neck of the guitar. For narrower necked instruments there are rubber spacers supplied. It is very lightweight and fixes to the wall using two screws. You may need additional fixings depending on the wall type you are fixing to. Once mounted, the hanger is relatively small in size and looks neat. The hanger is really easy to use. Position the guitar neck within the arms of the holder and lower it down. As the headstock shoulders make contact with the holder, there are to arms that rotate to ensure the guitar remains securely within the holder. To remove the guitar, lift it up until the arms rotate out of the way at which point you can remove the instrument from the holder. I would definitely recommend this item.
