Thumbelina [VHS]

Been looking for the movie ever since I was a child!!

I still have the DVD from way back and was hoping for a proper (European) Blu-Ray version. Since I'm Dutch and no Dutch version is in the planning, I purchased the U.S. version after carefully reading several websites that listed it as an region A AND B version (even though on the cover it only lists this Blu-Ray as region A).The movie itself looks far more darker than I remembered (I haven't checked back with the DVD version) and colors don't seem to be consistent. They look a bit off!Also, it looks like not much effort has been put into the restoration process. White spots appear everywhere but not at all as bad as on the Blu-Ray of Ferngully.But still, it is nice to have it on Blu-Ray with DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio.There a just a few languages and subtitles listed on the cover but here's the overview (I hope I got it right):Languages:English DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 - English DD 2.0 - Castillian DD 5.1 - French DTS 5.1 - Spanish DTS 5.1 - Danish DTS 5.1 - German DTS 5.1 - Italian DTS 5.1 - Czech DD 2.0Subtitles:English - Spanish - French - Spanish - Danish - German - Italian - Swedish

I found it by chance, bought it, loved it, lost it, re-bought it, wore it out, bought it again with Amazon (couldn't find it anywhere else) and still happy to sit next to my children as they watch it for the 24th time.The music by Barry Manilow is fun and catchy; the characters are lovely. Thumbalina is so pretty, sweet, different. But they all are nice (I personally love the Beetle).Finally, the motives of original Hans Christian Anderson fairytale are all there - not Disneyed or Barbied. There are many lessons to be learned here: self-confidence, dare to be different, love yourself even if you're different, true love vs marriage of interest, resilience, trust. All following with the natural flow of the seasons.I love this movie.I have a collection of around 100 kids movies - trust me: get a copy for your daughter.

One of my favourite films at a child. Told my daughter about it and she wanted to watch it. Delivery was a day quicker than stated. The only downside was that the box arrived damaged inside.

I am certainly not ashamed, even as an "advanced" adult, to admit that not only did these these wonderful children's productiond entertain me but they also left a longlasting impression on me. You see I felt, when I first saw them many years ago, that they did much to brighten my life, and when I now had the opportunity to purchase them in one package, I might again find some small joy.Well, this I did, and regardless of my advancing years I had to, this time, not just enjoy them but to admire the great initative of the originators who gave the children something good to see and think about, I recommend you see these offerimngs.

Bought for my granddaughter to watch when she comes to stay on weekend and we have watched this together about dozen times since it arrived. Each time we watch it she notices something new about one of the bugs or animals and I love her interpretation of the story she sees good in everyone nobody it naughty. The fact that Thumberlina was born from a flower and is so little just seems natural to her and the faries are a bonus as she is a big Tinkerbell fan. This DVD was good value and lot cheaper than other DVD I have bought for her to watch and she loves it just as much.

The quality of this DVD isn't the best. It's like a VHS converted to DVD. It's blurry. But for its price you can't expect much. Remember it's also a 1994 movie. I bought this one to add to my collection, it reminds me of my childhood, so it does the job.

Used to watch this with my daughter's when they were young do I've bought it for my grandson to watch with him can't wait
