Slate Pro 3-in-1 Rechargeable Electric Flosser, Dentist Invented

This flosser has made flossing so easy for me. Prior to ordering it I struggled to floss as often as recommended by a dentist but this has made the floss routine quick and easy. It removes food particles missed by brushing alone so efficiently even if you miss a day or two. The only thing that took some adjusting to was the intensity of the vibrations even at the lowest setting but after a few uses it was fine (but have yet to use past the lowest setting). The rubber gum bristles are a huge win as they help protect gums from rubbing against the hard plastic. The tongue scraper is durable enough but still comfortable and not too abrasive.

My teeth feel smoother and cleaner than ever; Flossing is faster, more efficient and oh so thorough! It took me at first several nightly flossing sessions to get the feel, to first slide floss down between tightly spaced teeth easily (forcing can break floss) and then curve around each side of each tooth - as clumsy as learning the piano, at first. Now flossing is a breeze and a pleasure! The power of sonic vibration to break up plaque forming bacteria vs flossing by hand is the magic. And easy care: I add a drop of soap to the floss head & handle, rub it all around, rinse, wipe down, let air dry. Change floss head weekly. Battery lasts a couple months. So very glad I found this flosser. Game changer on a nightly and essential hygiene task.

After two weeks of daily use, I can say that I am pleasantly happy with this purchase. This is an excellent electronic flosser. It's well designed and works. I studied the videos on the proper technique, hold at the grip pad, and sometimes even place a little bit of gum oil on the floss and that helps to make the floss last a little longer. I clean the flosser daily. I have tight contacts so it doesn't last me a full week so far but I am working on learning how to use the flosser more effectively. I may need to purchase the thin floss heads listed on their webpage. I tried the competitor Flaus electronic flosser and returned it shortly after purchasing because it didn't work for me. The flaus floss heads snapped, had slack, and broke way too easily. The Slate Flosser is the superior product in my opinion and hands down is the better design. I appreciate the different floss head options and the rechargeable design. My only feedback is, I reached out with a question via email and didn't receive a response and I wish that they sold the tight contact floss heads on Amazon. They do sell their other floss heads on Amazon Prime.

I’m a registered dental hygienist, and I actually received one of these from a dental sales rep. My first reaction was, “I’ll never recommend this to my patients.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. After using it myself, I was genuinely impressed. I’m a huge advocate for string floss, but the Slate Pro has earned a place in my recommendations because it removes one of the biggest barriers to flossing: ease of use. The long handle makes it incredibly easy to reach the back molars an area many people struggle to clean effectively which will give them inflamed gums annd cavities and the ergonomic design makes daily flossing much less of a chore. No home device replaces a professional dental cleaning, but pairing this with a quality electric toothbrush gets patients much closer to maintaining a truly clean and healthier mouth between hygiene visits. I’ve also found it’s ideal for travel since it’s compact, easy to pack, and doesn’t require the extra accessories that many other oral hygiene devices do. The biggest reason I recommend it is compliance. The best oral hygiene product is the one people will actually use consistently. I’ve had patients switch to the Slate Pro because they found it easier than string floss, and when they use it daily, I often see less plaque and tartar accumulation, healthier gums, and improved periodontal measurements at their recall appointments. I went from being completely skeptical to recommending it with confidence, and buying it for friends and family members as a gift. That’s about the highest compliment I can give any dental product.

When working, the flosser isn’t bad. I don’t think it cleans as effectively as it claims, but more importantly the floss just doesn’t last. It’s weak and breaks quickly making the flosser very, very expensive.

This is my review of a Slate Flosser I purchased, not based on a free product. This is a fantastic product, well designed, nicely packaged and convenient. Instructions are clear, the device comes with sufficient charge for several uses before needed to recharge. The proprietary charging cable has a strong magnet to easily connect and charge. The unit is comfortable to grip, vibrations settings are three and it remembers the last used setting. The good: the floss heads have ribbed sides to clean the gums. They are easy to swap, they firmly attach to the flosser. The memory setting prevents having to push the button until the desired power setting is achieved. Battery life is good. Instructions are clear and the unit comes well packaged. The bad: Slate took a page from Apple and ships the product with no power adapter. They recommend at least 20w which is a standard now but for the price it should have included the power adapter. The heads are expensive, seems they want to recover R&D costs as soon as possible, I guess that number of glossers sold versus number of replacement heads sold will give them a comparison point and lower the price. A head that last about a week of less at $30 per box of 20 is hard to justify for 450 strings that go between your teeth and start breaking immediately. Final impression: I will use it for a while, works great, but will see if pricing for consumables go down, I hope. I don’t think we will see knockoff heads any time soon.

UPDATE: If you read my first review you are getting the update follow up to how the company handled this issue. I reached out to the Slate Flosser company with an issue of cracks in the shaft of my flosser. They quickly replied with great care and concern. They were aware of this issue and said it was a bad lot. An hour later, I received a shipping notification for a replacement. That is as good as it gets in my book when it comes to customer service. This company stands behind their product. I use this everyday and I'm happy to say it works and when there was an issue, Slate got behind their goods immediately. Initial 3 star: I've had my flosser for a little over a year. I use it all the time because it's great. But it is not made to be durable. I'm hoping this review will get me some customer care. I've reached out about this but I haven't heard back from Slate. I hope they care. There are 2 long cracks down the plastic shaft of the device. This flosser is not man-handled and is used gently every day and stored in a cabinet when not in use. The item actually still works but I'm concerned about the 2 long cracks that showed up. This is clearly a product defect. Made with cheap plastic that probably can't take the vibration over time. I'll let you all know how this manufacturing defect is handled. Sure, I loved it when I first got it but weirdly it is not holding up. You can see the cracks on both sides of the shaft.

The unit itself works fine, but the floss portion of it frequently breaks when I use it before I’ve finished flossing, and I don’t have razor sharp teeth or braces. And the replacement floss pieces are not inexpensive, so now I am left to hope Slate improves the floss replacement units or see if someone else will create a compatible floss replacement product with greater strength that’s less prone to breaking..

The ease of use and convenience makes me adhere to regular daily usage. I would like to come back later for an update after the dentist cleaning visit feedback.

I cannot recommend these highly enough! My teeth feels so clean and smooth.

I would not recommend this product for people who generally use dental tape due to teeth being close together. I thought the hi frequency vibration would help make the floss go easily between teeth but that is not the case. I only used it once and unfortunately it was too late to return it.
