At first I thought it was quite bitter, but it's actually very good! It's a little salty so I had to add water and it was perfect. There's a good amount of vegetables and I imagine it would be nice to add your own meat to it as well, if you're making it on the stovetop. It's very flavorful and great mix of spices; vegetable are cooked perfectly too. It was very filling so I couldn't finish it in a day so I added cheese and some extra rice on the second day. It's already cooked so It's easy to pour in a bowl and heat it in the microwave too. It was a little oily for me but I think that is just me.Love that it's organic and the calories are also not too high. I've only had two cans so far but next time would definitely like to arrange it with pasta noodles and meat! Love that it feels customizable.A little pricy but super convenient if you like Jambalaya flavor!

Pretty good as a meal, great as a base for a meal
This soup is hearty and tasty. Big portions. The flavor is tomato forward with the with the rest of the vegetables and spices in tow. To my palate it was definitely not spicy. Not even mildly. I think you'll want to add your own kick if you want heat. As well, it didn't taste overly salty to me (which I mention because the label lists more sodium than came across in the flavor).I love that the ingredients are organic and without preservatives. Even the one questionable ingredient for the health conscious, "safflower and/or sunflower oil", is high-oleic, which is a healthier version of said oils than most.Because the portions are so big, I was really dang satisfied by the time I finished my bowl. However I will note that I think this would make a much better meal if you build on it. As already mentioned, you may want to add some of your own heat. And, you may want to add something extra for substance and crunch, like tortilla chips, or a grilled cheese, or even some meat. By itself this soup is not very chunky. It's not thin, but it's somewhere in the middle between thin and chunky. It's fine alone, but to really make it shine I'd use it as a foundation and build on it.It's a 5 to me on ingredient quality and portion size. And a 4 to 4.5 on flavor, substance/chunkiness, and cost.

Tried & true, Amy’s comes through
I became a vegetarian 23 years ago and options for convenience foods were very, very limited. But there was Amy’s! And all these years later, I still count on Amy’s when I need something quick like a frozen entree or a can of soup.I’m always happy to see this family-owned company expanding their product line. They make a lot of ethnic meals but I think this is the first Creole item I’ve seen. In a lot of ways, it’s comparable to Amy’s chili… sorta thick and saucy at the same time, plenty of veggies and beans, flavorful but not overpowering. I definitely would like a higher protein content so I add my own meatless sausage (so surprised it wasn’t an ingredient). Add a chunk of warm, crusty bread and it’s a delicious meal. The price per can is right in line with what I pay at the grocery store for Amy’s soups or chili (in fact, a bit less). Another great option for our very cold winter nights which are coming right up!

Quick vegetarian meal
I am a big fan of vegetarian and organic foods. I don’t usually eat a lot of processed foods, but it’s nice to have something quick on hand now and then. I like everything about this soup, except for the fact that it has a ton of sodium. One can has 56% of the recommended daily intake! I practice a plant based, low sodium, low oil diet so this soup isn’t something I would want to eat regularly, but it’s nice to have a quick vegetarian meal handy when needed.

Excellent flavor, rich with organic veggies and grains!
This organic canned vegetable jambalaya rivals my own personal recipe! I was expecting to have to add some seasonings and to thicken it up a little with something else. But it stands on its own with excellent flavor, richness and plenty of real ingredients including grains, vegetables, and beans. It makes an excellent lunch, split with someone else, or a dinner on its own. My husband said it was really good also, which says a lot. Also, we both like to fancy up canned soups with our own fresh ingredients. So for example, this week I have some steamed cauliflower that I might add to the next can. You could also add some plant or animal sausage or in a pinch open a can of vienna sausage (scandalous!). I like to add a dollop of sour cream or yogurt, or a tablespoon of quality red-wine vinegar or balsamic to soups. The soup is very mildly spicy for us, so you could add a touch of red pepper if you like it hot. I really like that the cans are pop-top, just a small convenience, but you don't need to look for the can opener.Note: the sodium (sea salt) is high. It's 780 mg per cup; the whole can, almost 1300 mg and over half the suggested intake per day.

Not bad for canned
This was definitely a soup, and not a jambalaya per se so take that into account and don't come into this expecting a true jambalaya flavor. However, this was packed full of flavor with a lot of smokiness from the paprika. It's spicy, but not hot spicy. It has a very strong tomato flavor as well, which I don't mind the flavor, but both my husband and I are strongly affected by too much of the tomato acid. My 15 year old son, however, does not have a problem with tomato and he really enjoyed the flavor. He would prefer it to not be vegetarian, but I said we could add sausage to it to give some meaty flavor as well. There were a LOT of beans in this, which is problematic for my husband as well.If we didn't have the stomach issues, we would definitely all eat it, but probably add sausage and serve it over rice. However, I wouldn't purchase it at the current price because that is just over $3.80 for a small can.

Was tasty as I expected from Amy’s
I thought it had good Smokey tomato flavor and a hearty amount of vegetables. I thought was quite filling as it took me two meals to eat a can. Soup was the quality I have come to expect from Amy’s and I was not disappointed. It does have a higher sodium content so that’s something to consider.
