I don't believe it's illegal. **Q: Can screws be recessed? will you feel pressure points with thinner sole shoes such as puma speed cats?** A: You can recess the screws if you want, but I did not because I usually wear basketball shoes or running shoes when I am riding my mountain bike. If I get into a situation where the grass or ground is wet, the spikes make sure my feet do not slip off the pedals. I also have a city bike with less agressive plastic spikes. I took the comfort pedals off the city bike and switched them with the original mountain bike pedals, and then these more aggressive pedals on the mountain bike, because especially in the early morning when the grass is wet and I stop to cross a grass medium my feet would get wet and when I put them back on the pedals they may slip. With these there is no slippage. **Q: this may sound like a dumb question, but can you stand on these pedals?** A: Yes. I've been using these for aggressive trail riding and some jumping for a few weeks now. No issues whatsoever. Grippy, light, and the exact same pedal as the more expensive Raceface Chesters. **Q: How do I know if I need 3 bearing or needle roller bearings?** A: I didn't know they even offered the option but on rechecking the add I see they do. Add says "needle bearing, longer service life." I did not get needle bearings only cause I didn't know I could. Price is the same. Needle bearings should be better but may be be tougher to replace depending on availability; but at this price just buy new ones. They should last several years unless you get them wet a lot. Best of luck ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Incredible Deal on Incredible Pedals. *by on Reviewed in the United States September 19, 2019* These pedals are fantastic for the price.If you're still on factory nylon pedals with no grip pins, you will be looking for a word stronger than "glued" when you try these out.The bearings (this is the three bearing option, as none of the needle roller options fit my build) are smooth, but they can keep the pedal flat when your foot leaves, so you've got somewhere to come back to. That is a major upside for me.The install was very easy, they can be installed with a 15mm wrench or an 8mm Allen, both very common for biking.The nylon bodies are very light, sturdy, and thin. This helps with pedal strikes by a considerable amount.The pins will GRIP your shoes, as long as you arent wearing some of those rigid soled "bike shoes" that aren't intended for flat pedals. They send two extra pins and nuts, which you'll need because they bend easily. I've taken ~10 rides on these pedals now, and I broke one pin off on a major rock strike.The nylon holds up well to abrasions, but you will certainly see the edges chewed up if you smack them on a rock or a curb. It's a non issue, as the plastic is colored throughout, so this won't stick out like a sore thumb, akin to allow pedals.Buy these if; you want a solid and sturdy light nylon pedal that grips your shoes like it is meant to, for a very very reasonable price. These are all but RaceFace Chester pedals, which I was able to compare them to on a local bike.Don't buy these if; the name offends you, you want a big name brand price for the same quality, or you just want them to have a name brand logo.
