I am online today to buy another Sherpani Tempest bag after using and abusing my current one for a couple years. As soon as I looked it up on Amazon, the website notified me that I last purchased this in April 2018. I remember now that I was looking for a back for a week in New York — big enough to fit what I needed for the day yet small enough to actually carry all day, attractive enough to take everywhere, and definitely both backpack and regular straps for security and comfort. This bag was so awesome on the trip! Then I just kept using it and using it — I really don’t know how it still looks so good after everywhere I’ve taken it. It’s still in good shape really (one pull tassel missing) but I like it so much I have to buy another before it’s discontinued! Definitely getting both colors this time (I’ve had the khaki tone.) Lastly, even though it’s not a super trendy style or a big name, I’ve gotten more compliments on this bag than every other bag I own all put together! I certainly don’t buy my handbags or backpacks for that reason, but it has been surprising to me how many people have commented — even taking the time to write down the name so they can find it online themselves. After looking around at different websites I kept seeing this backpack purse. I'm going to Portland to travel and explore and I also wanted to be able to use this everyday as a purse. I was concerned about the material and how anti-theft it was. I was also a little worried about comfort. I was pleasantly surprised with how durable the fabric is. I even tested the little swatch of fabric that it came with on the tags. It's hard to cut and I could not slash it with a knife. With the zipper on the top and the straps being an 'X' (as worn as a backpack) there's no way that somebody can get in through the top without you knowing! I know that sounds a little paranoid but just think midwest girl going to a big city. There was one thing that I was surprised about and that's the leather trimming. It's more of a pale beige color than the yellowish color I saw in all of the pictures on different websites. I don't know if this varies from purse to purse-and it doesn't bother me at all...but I was surprised. Overall this is a great purse. It has functionality, a well-thought-out design, has muti-styles and the material seem to be very good quality!

It's a gorgeous, well-made bag so I can't fault it there. But it felt clunky when used as a backpack, and didn't look very good on. The straps aren't padded so it's not very comfortable. As a tote, this would be great, it just didn't work for my purposes.

I wanted a bag that converted from a tote to a backpack and that was practical for daily use but also good looking enough to take out in the evening. This was definitely it! I just returned from a 3 week vacation. I used the bag daily and so far it's still in perfect shape. I holds a good amount and I was happy with the capacity. I usually packed a water bottle, book, small sweater, and all the usually stuff like sunblock, sun glasses, wallet, lotion, etc. Everything fit well. For one part of the trip I was even able to carry my laptop in addition to all of that, though that felt pretty heavy for the bag. The straps are pretty thin though so if you feel you need more support then go with something else.

Love the look and the material of the bag. But the straps do not make sense. I find myself fighting to get to the contents of my belonging inside my bag. Then when you adjust the straps to turn it into a tote, the straps are just way too long.

I really liked this bag when I bought it. I loved how easy it was to convert from a purse to a backpack. However, one of the loops came off where the hook attaches, and now it is unusable. The material is quite thick, so I can't sew it up myself. And I wouldn't want to myself as it should be quite strong. I am past the return period (one month), so now I am out $100! I'm very disappointed.

This is the perfect bag for literally any woman on the go! There are so many useful pockets and compartments and it looks professional as a tote and super cute as a backpack. It converts easily and quickly and (so far) is very durable. I even spilled a huge jug on water inside the bag and it dried in no time with zero damage to anything. The outer covering is very durable and water resistant. It is large enough to carry a laptop and charger in addition to all the contents you would typically have in a purse. It also retails for $150 so you are getting a huge deal buying here!

I love this bag! I have used it as my primary work bag, holding a 15" laptop, power cord, small cosmetics bag, and wallet daily for two years. I also will take the work gear out and use it as a purse in off hours. I did apply some fabric scotch guard to it early on, but having checked my orders, that was in May of 2017. It still looks almost pristine - I cannot recommend it highly enough. This weekend, my son put a bottle of sprite in it with the lid not all the way on, and it soaked through the bag to dripping. I dried it out, trying to decide whether or not to put it in the wash (ruining the leather tassles) or spot clean, and it dried fine - no stains or rings, not sticky. It might be made out of magic fabric.

I have only used this bag for a week, so I cannot comment about durability yet. This bag/tote/purse is everything I have been searching for. I use it as a purse/diaper bag. It holds a lot! The main compartment is deep, but not very wide; I like this particular design because it makes it easy to find things (although you may need to take some things out to get to something at the bottom). I can easily fit my wallet, a package of baby wipes, three cloth diapers and a large laptop in the main compartment - with a little room to spare. The laptop does make the bag heavy, and if you were carrying it for a long time I think the straps would quickly become uncomfortable. I would also worry about the straps ripping from where they attach to the bag. There are three well-sized zippered pockets on the outside that I use for my keys/cell phone/pens. There is a small zippered pocket inside the bag - which I use for makeup, hand sanitizer and reusable masks. All the zippers are thick and high quality. I was hesitant to purchase this bag because it looked big and I am only 5'2''. It doesn't look unreasonably big on me, although I could have done with shorter straps when the bag is worn as a backpack (they don't slip off, the bag just sits lower on me than I would like). I highly recommend so far - and will adjust review if durability or quality is not 5/5. Made in Vietnam.

It's so versatile and chic, great purchase!!

This is the best convertible bag I have had and I've had a lot. It looks great as a bag and as a backpack. Doesn't require re-attaching the straps between backpack and bag mode which I a huge plus and, at the same time, there are no backpack straps hanging around when worn as a bag. Can be worn as backpack on one arm. It fits my 14in laptop and a small lunch box but doesn't look big. I wish it wasn't so flat so that I was able to pack more things but I understand that that's what gives the bag the streamlined look. I'm taking away one star because after a month of using it I found scratches on the baby's canvas. I worry that it will start looking tired much too soon
