WOW! Excellent! Incredible Value!
Canโt say enough good things about this product! Wanted to rebuild my B&S carburetor but it was way too expensive. Thought it couldnโt hurt to try this knock-off at such a low price. . I was very pleasantly surprised. Fit is excellent. Quality appears excellent. Installation was amazing...just bolted it on and hooked up the hoses and cables. The engine started the first try and ran perfectly! No tuning necessary. Now Iโll have to see if it lasts (but I could buy 4 and still pay less than fixing my old one). BTW...itโs ironic that the genuine B&S parts I have purchased recently are made in Mexico. So much for buying American...itโs a shame.

Worked well with no adjustments needed! No more gas in the oil now!!!
Everything bolted right up and the mower fired up right away. This went on a MTD Yard Machine 638rl with a 17.5 hp Briggs and Stratton. The only major difference I saw between the factory Nikki carb and this one was the fuel inlet not being curved on this replacement carb like the factory one was. The included fuel line has a 90 degree bend though so no problems there either. I didnโt use the filters that came with this kit as I have some see through filters that I like better. The fuel line is just a rubber one so Iโm not sure how long it will last but so far, so good. At least this carb has stopped the fuel from flooding the crankcase and mixing with the oil. I have only used it one day so far but it didnโt miss a beat through mowing all 3 acres. If it continues as good as it did today, I will be very pleased. Only time will tell but so far all is going well.

Worked right out of the box
My grass was getting taller and taller and my riding mower would start but would not stay running. I found out that the carburetor needle valve was sticking and would not let gas into the float bowl. Sometimes it would release and the mower would run for a little longer and I could keep it going by blowing into the top of the plastic gas tank to make the needle valve release. I tried cleaning it with brake cleaner. Big mistake, as most of the innerds of this carburetor are plastic and brake cleaner eats plastic. I put the carburetor back together and installed it on the engine for what must have been the 8th time. The sticking valve got worse so I looked at the price for a new brand name (Nikki) carburetor. The price was $129.00 plus shipping. I looked up the price on Amazon. I was surprised to find a lot lower prices with a massive selection of companies to choose from. Ain't free enterprise great. I got this carburetor, put it on, and mowed the grass for the first time in a while. The adjusting screw didn't seem to have any affect no matter if I turned it in or out. Very happy with this carburetor. I could buy a new one every spring at this price, before the grass starts to grow.

Reliable OEM-style replacement part that restores engine performance when the old carb fails
This carburetor is generally considered a solid replacement for compatible Briggs & Stratton engines when the original unit starts causing issues like hard starting, rough running, surging, or stalling. It is designed as a direct fit for several OEM part numbers, including common replacements like 591731 and others in the same family, so installation is usually straightforward as long as the engine model matches. In terms of performance, users typically find that when installed correctly, it restores normal fuel delivery and brings the engine back to smooth operation without needing extensive tuning. Many small engine repairs rely on this type of replacement rather than rebuilding older carburetors, especially when clogging or internal wear becomes frequent. The main thing to watch is ensuring correct compatibility and clean fuel system components during installation, since performance issues are often tied to fuel quality or debris rather than the carb itself.

Exactly what was needed
I'd bought a used riding mower that worked fine for a couple of months. But it always seemed to be leaking gas . The last time I used it it backfired badly and billowing smoke came out of the muffler. I thought I'd blown the engine or the head gasket. Plus the oil filter had a hole and was squirting a stream of "oil". More investigation lead to the fact that the gas had been draining into the crankcase. After some on-line investigation I figured out the carburetor float wasn't working and rather than rebuild the carburetor I bought a new one. Got it in 2 days and the install was very easy once we got the throttle control rod back in the hole. Changed the oil filter, added oil and the mower fired right up. I even added the petcock valve to make sure gas couldn't continually flow into there carburetor when the mower wasn't running. If it happens again in a few years I'd buy this carburetor again and replace the defective one. Good price on a good product.

Form, Fit, Function
This particular part fit the B & S 15 Hp single cylinder, vertical crankshaft Murray Lawn Tractor perfectly. It partially cured the surge problem this engine has but not completely. It started up immediately when cranked. No leaks. The fuel bowl electrical leads fit perfectly. So, I again have misdiagnosed the cause of the engine surging. Now I will have to go to more serious solutions. But the carburetor was well finished and looked identical to the OEM part/carb. The least expensive OEM carburetor (still foreign made) was listed at $121 + shipping and handling. This is a true value.

Not too good
This is the second one of these I have tried. They look like a quality piece and install easy but they make the motor run like crap. The first one I used on my tractor had the engine sputtering, backfiring and stalling at idle. I figured I had other mechanical problems and just used it running that way. The second one was for a different tractor I bought that had been sitting for 2 years and wouldn't start so I figured I would replace the carb. Guess what? It ran just like the first one. So I took the old carb apart and cleaned it and used some gaskets from the new one and put it on. Engine ran perfect, which got me thinking. I got out the old carb, that I still had, for tractor #1, took it apart, cleaned it up and put it on. It also ran perfect. Both carbs were starving the engines for fuel. And yes they were the correct ones for the BS engines according to the site. Just goes to show "You get what you pay for".

Thumbs up
Once you reach the point that you have to clean these old carb every week before you mow, this is the fix. Works great! Cheap, and well worth the money for the time it saves over a summer.

I put it on the riding lawn mower and it working. But after I turned it off, the gasoline started coming out of the carburetor. Poor quality
