Good book
Great basics of Computer's. If you know how to install RAM, this book won't be too useful for you, other than a few details like software you can use for the computer, if you haven't heard of them before. But very colorful and user friendly.

Very Useful, But Too Many Unnecessary Terms
The book has a lot of great information that I'll refer back to even after the class is completed. However, there is too much emphasis on terminology that really isn't used with the importance that the authors portray. The authors could back off of that and make it not so overwhelming.

A great introduction to the world of computers
A great introduction to the world of computers. A resource you will use over and over again.Databases, spreadsheets, pixels and more are covered. There are short sections referencing the history of computers. The different job sectors are also covered. If you are interested in learning more about computers, this book is very helpful.

It's okay
Worked well for the semester and I was able to buy it at a Used book price. Note that this is the Comprehensive edition with those extra chapters.

Easy to understand
I bought this book being completely ignorant about how computers work. Despite my initial ignorance, I found the book very easy to understand and follow, and feel like it is very well written, and surprisingly interesting to read, whereas most textbooks tend to bore me to death.

I bought for my master's program and I'm still using it at work. This book is great at explaining complex computer concepts to people who have trouble understanding computers. I really liked it.

DON'T BUY THE HARD COPY - GET THE DIGITAL
Hi - Don't waste your $ on the hard copy of this book. It doesn't come with the access code for the interactive labs, which for the beginning chapters are no big deal - but for the chapters that cover material you aren't familiar with - they are needed. Your professor may even decide to use the book's labs for the syllabus (your grade), instead of creating his own; with the hard copy you are screwed. So, another thing - I bought the book in July from amazon for $134, nice to see its jumped up $30 - just in time for school to start. Just buy the ebook directly from the publisher for $94.
