Methinks I Love Wild Child A Little Too Much 🫣
I remember there was a time I hadn’t watched this in my childhood, then one day during the pandemic I felt it in my soul to watch this and I did…and the ✨feels✨! I’m always gonna tear up at the scene at the end where her dad recognizes the resemblance in Poppy and her mom (aka his late wife)..Poppy’s growth, the friendship she makes with the girls, her realizing what it means to be herself and lean on others. I will forever love this movie and is one of my comfort movies lol, I’m 22 years old but I watch it as if I’m a preteen again. I think because it shares the same nostalgic feel of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging which has been one of my fave comfort films since it aired that one 2008 summer night on Nickelodeon. I’m a fan of most films in the coming-of-age genre they just speaks to me. I also love that Adele, Rihanna, Eve and Nelly Furtado and many others are on this soundtrack! “Who are weeeeee 😚?”

A childhood favorite
I hadn’t seen this movie since I was in middle school but after seeing a thread about early 2000s movies online, I decided to give title a rewatch.Emma Roberts plays Poppy, a “valley girl” with the perfect life, whose attitude has landed her in a strict English all girls boarding school for a semester as punishment for her refusal to welcome her new stepmother into her family. The characters (and acting) from her hometown are pretty lackluster, but once she gets to Abbey Mount, the boarding school in England, she meets her new group of friends, teachers, and the headmasters son and her adventures begin!Throughout the movie, there are many quintessential 2000s music, pop culture and fashion trends, which made it a fun blast from the past. The plot of the movie isn’t incredibly complex but it did keep me engaged on the rewatch (even as a 25 year old). Anyone considering renting or buying this to please their inner child, absolutely do it! It was a pleasant watch and I plan to come back to it again in another 5-10 years for another rewatch.

Not A Single Complaint :)
I had my doubts about this movie, but I knew I had to buy it after watching only 20 minutes. I found the portrayal of American California girls very interesting. I am from Indiana, and I admit, several things that Poppy (the main character) and her friends did line up with prejudices that I've developed through American media. So, seeing that was amusing, but made me wonder if Europeans thought all Americans acted that way (because we do not). I know not all Californians do, either.I could not stop laughing, and these were laughs, not chuckles. I LOVED seeing Poppy's hand sanitizer. I had bought my own bottle a few days before watching the movie. There was not a single character that I did not like. Though, Alex Pettyfer's hair could be improved. ;) I like his style in "I Am Number 4" better, but I digress. The actors were beyond amazing, and consequently, I loved the characters. I loved their hair, accents, clothes, facial expressions, everything. The movie was a true delight, and I'm planning to watch it with my Mom. ^_^ALSO: I am a Christian, and I personally loved the way the headmistress handled Poppy's case. Too many times in Church we encounter wild child Poppys, and we condemn them. We yell at them, order them to clean their act up, show disgust to them, etcetera. Then, we usually chase them out of the Church because they're just too wild. I think Christians should watch this movie because of the valuable lesson in it: Call out the good in people.Poppy acted the way she did because she was hurting inside. She missed her mother. Many times in real life, people commit negative, hurtful deeds because they are hurting inside. As Christians, we are called to do what Christ did, which was HEAL them and NEVER condemn them. If you heal the wound, the behavior changes automatically. But if you try to "fix" behavior without healing the wound, well, that is as silly as trying to "fix" the speakers without turning the radio to an actual radio station. The behavior is not the problem. It's the manifestation of the problem.NDN

Delightful coming-of-age movie
While, as some other reviewers have stated, the plot of Wild Child is reasonably predictable, this movie is more than just a cliche. Two actresses in particular make this stand out from the crowd. Emma Roberts carried her part with energy and a skill that belied her age. Natasha Richardson, a member of the Redgrave family of stage and screen legends, almost stole the show. She would have done had her performance not been balanced well by that of Ms. Roberts. The role of headmistress was embodied so well by Ms. Richardson, who played it straight with warmth and depth of character, that it would be easy to overlook. However, having seen the movie several times, my appreciation for Natasha's performance has grown with each viewing. Emma Roberts' contribution is a standout throughout and has stood the test of repetition. The movie is very slightly choppy. No doubt this is the result of tight editing to keep the viewing time down and the level of action up, in addition to the fact that this is the directorial debut of Nick Moore and the writing debut of Lucy Dahl. The 'film' has held up to repeat viewings primarily due to the quality of the aforementioned actors and the overall competence and efforts of many of the supporting performers. As a side note, this was the final on-screen performance of Natasha Richardson, who died the following year after a skiing accident.

HAPPY BUY!
Review from 15 year old!:I bought this because it was something I had been looking for, for a while and was going to watch it on my laptop but when I bought it I was unsure if it would work on the laptop. Amazingly, it does! so I am happy about that and the movie is very funny and entertaining! It is a really good buy and have been ordering more films on Amazon! The only thing I found a little dissapointing in the film was, you don't really get to see what happens with her and 'Freddie' at the end! Slightly annoyed, but everything else was great!

Great, cheesy teen-girl flick
My 10 year old daughter loves this film, watches it frequently with friends or on her own. I have watched it once & can see the appeal for that age group. Life lessons are learned, everything turns out for the best, and there is lots of mischief, fun & a little romance along the way. There are a couple of references to teenage sexual relationships & one about eating disorders which parents of younger girls might need to watch out for.

9 year old daughter's favourite movies, we have watched it a few times ...
One of my 9.5 year old daughter's favourite movies, we have watched it a few times already and she still keeps asking to watch it again.Used to be a Free movie on Prime video but since it now costs nearly £4.50 on Instant video and less than £3 to own the DVD, the maths are easily done!

Okay for teenage girls!
The plot was good, the idea great, but I found it a little too immature and feminine for my liking. I think it was targeted as a young female audience. Too much 'girly' stuff in it to take it seriously.
