Philips HTL4110B/12 2.1 Channel SoundStage Speaker with Integrated subwoofer

I quite like the idea of the Soundbase. I've a 'proper' surround system hooked up to our main TV. However, on a 32" that sits in another room, my criteria was fairly simple: something that would improve the sound from the TV's inbuilt speakers. If I can connect other stuff to it too, specifically a small mini hi-fi system, all the better. A soundbar was an option but most would either need wall mounted or sit in front of the TV. With a Soundbase, the TV sits on-top so it's quite a tidy solution...I hadn't initially considered Philips when looking around. I'd initially been set on Denon's DHT-T100 but this doesn't have any HDMI inputs. I'd also considered Canton's DM50 (fantastic reviews but no HDMI and a bit on the pricey side at £400) and the Bose Solo TV Sound System (again no HDMI, no Bluetooth and fairly expensive). The Onkyo LS-T10 was another option but again, is bit more than I was looking to spend at £300.It was What Hi-Fi's high regard for two Philips soundbars (the HTL5120 gets a 5* review whilst their HTL9100 was their 2013 soundbar of the year) that led me to look into their range. The snappily titled HTL 4110B/12 doesn't seem to be widely available in the UK. Before buying, I scoured the internet for reviews and found vey few in English. In fact, when the soundbase arrived (from Amazon), it came with a European two pin plug! However, as it uses a standard figure of 8 mains lead, this was easy enough to replace with a UK equivalent for only a pound or two outlay.It's got a solitary HDMI connection, digital optical, coaxial and analogue phono inputs. There's also Bluetooth with NFC (Near Field Communications) for your smartphone and a USB socket on the side. Round the front, there's an on/off button which doubles as a volume control, small display (shows the source - ie. HDMI, Optical etc or volume level), and source button to flick through the various inputs. It also comes with a small remote control.Connecting it up took less than 5 minutes.First thing I'll mention - it's quite big, the same length as the 32" TV itself. There are various sound modes - it supports Dolby Digital and the inbuilt Philips Virtual Surround Sound transforms any stereo source into multi-channel surround sound. Or so it says. Like Yamaha's Air Sound Xtreme, I'm not wholly convinced by this. Maybe I'm comparing it unfairly to my actual surround sound system but it's never going to give you the same level of immersion.Having said that, testing it with the Avengers movie on Blu Ray, the integrated subwoofer does a commendable job of handling the end battle sequence, giving just the right amount of bass without being overpowering. Dialogue is clear and uncluttered. There's also plenty of detail to the background effects. A definite improvement over the TV's speakers. The sound easily fills the room and the soundbase does appear to go pretty loud if needed! Not exactly surround sound although it makes a reasonable stab at imitating it!Bluetooth pairing is simple and it connects to my iPhone in seconds. Sound quality from music was also extremely good, both from the Bluetooth and also from my stereo, now connected to the red and white phono inputs.There are a couple of sound modes which you can access using the remote(such as clear, warm etc). The instructions are fairly limited so it's a case of flicking through them to see what suits your preference. Nice additional touch though.Overall, it's made a big improvement to the sound from my TV, looks quite unobtrusive under the set and strikes the right balance between sound quality, functionality and price. I'm really happy with it.

I liked the product but returned it because there was some very minor damage but also because it arrived with a two pin plug and when I spoke to Philips customer services they informed me that this particular model code number ie/12 was made for the German market and stated that although it would probably work without any problem with a three pin power cord there might be an issue with the guarantee if things did go wrong. She just said there had been issues with this but wouldn't elaborate. I am in fact still trying to find a supplier of the product for the English market!

Great product, great price and swiftly delivered. Very good value for money and fantastic quality, it could be a tiny bit louder though although it depends on the source, Freeview TV is quietest while streaming TV is louder and Blu-rays are loudest - which is fine.

Sounds good. Only downside is I cannot find a way to control the volume level from our skybox remote control, so yet another remote floating around...

Philips tv site perfectly on it

I do wanted this to complete my setup with a recently purchased ambilight TV. Unfortunately after waiting 2 days for it to arrive, the unit I received was faulty and would not power on. To make matters worse my return was cancelled and I had to rearrange it so that I could get a refund. This did happen very quickly and I've already purchased an alternative.

Works very well but disappointed that when 'plugged in' it does not cut of the sound from the TV which has to placed on mute. Pity that the remote cannot be aligned to work with the TV remote as we now have another remote to find or lose.

Didn't work to start with - turns out the remote battery was faulty. Amazon was supposed to follow up and check that the issue was resolved but heard nothing - no follow up, bit poor.

J'ai choisi cet article car il avait le caisson de basse intégré.La télé se pose facilement dessus.Le son est bien. Il ne faut pas être trop exigeant vu son prix, mais il est possible de régler à votre convenance les bass/trebble et autres.Dans notre salon qui fait plus ou moins 3m sur 4m nous montons le son à 25 ou 30 (pour un maximum de 40) pour avoir un son avec un bon volume.Le bluetooth permet d'écouter de la musique à l'occasion.Je suis très satisfait de cet achat.

Trovo l’altoparlante di buona qualità costruttiva e regge bene il peso di un televisore da 32” senza flettere. Questo è un fattore importante dato che mi aspetto che possa durare nel tempo.Esteticamente lo trovo gradevole, con le linee pulite anteriormente e i led che indicano la funzione scelta e il volume.La qualità audio è buona, non distorce anche ad alto volume.Gli ingressi sono tanti: HDMI Arc, ottico, analogico, bluetooth, usb, per collegare più o meno qualunque cosa capiti.Se dovessi basarmi su questi punti, direi che è un ottimo oggetto e può durare nel tempo, e darei cinque stelle, ma sono costretto a darne solo 4 per i seguenti motivi.Tuttavia ho trovato alcuni aspetti che non mi piacciono:1) Collegando la TV tramite il cavo ottico c’è un ritardo udibile del suono rispetto alle immagini: un istante molto fastidioso quando si guarda il labiale di chi parla. (la stessa cosa ovviamente accade con il bluetooth).2) il volume che arriva allo speaker guardando una trasmissione TV è “basso” (ma perchè?) e richiede di alzare il volume dello speaker a ben oltre la metà al fine di avere una buona resa sonora. Questo non accade invece quando uso il chromecast, in quanto il volume è sufficientemente alto e l’audio ottimo. (questo sembra un problema software - ma come si aggiorna il firmware?)Da segnalare anche alcune cose che non avevo capito prima di acquistarlo:1) la connessione HDMI Arc non funziona con HDMI 1.3, forse è scontato per molti, ma è meglio saperlo. (motivo per cui ho dovuto comprare successivamente un cavo ottico).2) il telecomando della TV di conseguenza non funziona per comandare lo speaker, questo è un peccato perchè bisogna usare il telecomando in dotazione,3) il telecomando in dotazione è sottile come una carta di credito e usa una batteria CR2 (correttamente scritto nelle specifiche, ma non avevo notato). Questo comporta maggiori complicazioni nel sostituirla (altri telecomandi usano formati AA/AAA più comuni).

Meine Eltern hatten sich im Frühjahr 2014 einen 32 Zoll Toshiba LCD Fernseher in der 400,- Euro Klasse zugelegt. Leider hatte der Fernseher wie so viele in dieser Preisklasse einen miserablen Sound (eher Telefonhörerlautsprecher). Die verbauten Lautsprecher klangen hohl und schepperten bei höherer Lautstärke. Also sollte für möglichst wenig Geld eine besser klingende Ergänzung gesucht werden. Kriterien: Kompakte Maße, kein separater Subwoofer, einfache Bedienung und vor allem besserer Klang bei höherer Lautstärke. Leider ist die Auswahl an Geräten um die 150,- Euro sehr eingeschränkt. Schließlich bin ich bei der Suche bei der Philips HTL 4110 hängen geblieben. Kleinere Bedenken hatte ich aufgrund der etwas kritischen Beurteilungen hinsichtlich eines störungsfreien Betriebs. Aber im Philips-Support Forum gibt es eine Menge (deutschsprachige!) Hinweise und wichtige Tipps. Leider ist es heute üblich, dass Produkte aufgrund der kurzen Entwicklungszeiten erst beim Kunden „reifen“ („Bananenprodukte“). Zudem sind diese Produkte häufig softwaregetrieben. Also vorab schon mal das aktuelle Firmware-Update heruntergeladen und bereitgelegt.Bei dem Artikel handelte es sich um einen Rückläufer von Amazon zu einem günstigen Preis. Geliefert und ausgepackt, das Gerät ist wie neu. Sehr dezentes Aussehen, kompaktes Gehäuse, gute Verarbeitung. Der Anschluss über HDMI hat leider nicht funktioniert, da der Fernseher über keinen HMDI Audio Rückkanal verfügt. Das muss aber kein Nachteil sein, da bei Anschluss über diese Schnittstelle schon mal technische „Unverträglichkeiten“ zwischen Geräten auftreten können. Nachteil: Die separate nicht ganz überzeugende Philips-Fernbedienung muss genutzt werden. Also über den KOAX-Eingang die Verbindung hergestellt. Dann noch das Firmware-Update (V. 5.1) durchgeführt (Dauer ca. 4 Min.), kurzer Funktionstest, anschließend das Gerät kurz vom Netz genommen und anschließend noch zur Sicherheit ein Werkseinstellungs-Reset vorgenommen. Das Gerät läuft problemlos. Schön gelöst ist die Bedienung über den zentral beleuchteten Bedienknopf (An/Aus-Laut/Leise) am Gerät und die Anzeige über das blaue Display. Der Klang ist für diese Preisklasse erstaunlich gut, insbesondere die Sprachverständlichkeit ist gut. Das eingebaute „Subwooferchen“ (1 x Minibass mit Flachmembran) kann zwar keine Bäume ausreißen, gibt Stimmen aber eine gewisse Tiefe. An den Grundeinstellungen (Bass/Höhen/Surround etc.) sollte man nichts ändern, der Klang ist schon so in Ordnung, nichts dröhnt oder wird überspitzt wiedergegeben. Man muss bedenken, dass eine solche Lösung aus einem schlechten Fernsehsendeklang (Tagesschau, Heute etc.) keinen guten machen kann und auch kein Ersatz für eine Heimkinoanlage ist. Im Vergleich zu meiner eigenen Lösung (Magnat BTX 400) kann ich was den Klang und die Produktqualität betrifft hier durchaus eine Empfehlung aussprechen, insbesondere angesichts des sehr guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnisses. Ob dieses Philips Produkt den Langzeittest bestehen wird (technisch problemloser Betrieb ohne Abstürze) bleibt abzuwarten. Da habe ich mit einer Canton DM 50 so meine Erfahrungen gemacht. Bei technischen Problemen werde ich diese später beifügen. Ein Lob verdient auf jeden Fall das gute Support Forum von Philips, da scheint es einen engagierten Produktmanager zu geben, der sich um Probleme kümmert.Fazit:Klang Filme: gut bis zufriedenstellend (2,7)Klang Musik: zufriedenstellend (3)Anschlussmöglichkeiten: sehr gut (1,3)Verarbeitung: gut (2,3)Design: gut (2)Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis: sehr gut (1)+ Support durch Hersteller+ gute Rückmeldung über Display+ mehrere Stellfüße- im Auslieferungszustand evtl. Prodotto da valutare in rapporto alla sua qualità/prezzo: non credo ci sia di meglio, sopratutto per le prestazioni, la qualità globale del prodotto e la resa sonora dello stesso, a meno che non si intenda paragonarlo con impianti HT 5.1 ma in tal caso il paragone, francamente, avrebbe davvero poco senso vista la diversità dei prodotti interessati dal confronto.Iniziamo dalle dimensioni: lungo 70 cm e profondo 30, non avrà problemi a trovare la giusta collocazione in qualsiasi soggiorno vista la sua eleganza e pulizia nelle forme. Inoltre permette di accogliere comodamente la maggior parte delle basi TV, riuscendo a sostenere un carico di circa 22 KG e TV led fino a 55".Ha in bella vista una nostalgica manopola del volume impreziosito dalla presenza del Bluetooth con NFC in modo da poter ascoltare direttamente musica da tablet e smartphone (soluzione a volte non presente in prodotti ben più costosi).Dal punto di vista acustico la Soundstage monta un sistema a due vie per canale e il subwoofer integrato; la potenza disponibile è di 2 x 20 watt + 40 watt per il subwoofer per un totale di 80watt in grado di riempire degnamente un salotto di medie dimensioni e, ciò ce più conta, il suono che si percepisce è davvero pulito e cristallino.I collegamenti prevedono l'HDMI con ARC, audio digitale ottico e coassiale e uno stereo analogico; sul lato destro c'è una presa per chiavette USB e il minijack per collegare al volo qualsiasi sorgente. Sul pannello frontale troviamo un display per indicare volume e sorgente, in dotazione un telecomando per impostare l'eventuale effetto DSP Virtual surround e variare i toni, ma utilizzando il collegamento HDMI si potrà variare il volume direttamente dal telecomando del televisore.Si consigia di effettuare subito l'aggiornamento del Firmware del prodotto, seguendo le semplicissime istruzioni riportate sullo stesso sito del produttore (Philips).Segnalo inoltre una funzione non documentata : "LEARN": con tale funzione si può programmare la propria soundstage in modo da utilizzzare solo il comando del televisore per entrambi gli apparecchi (TV e Soundstage). La procedura è semplice: basta spegnere la TV e togliere la spina. Accendere la SoundStage e tenere premuto per qualche secondo il tasto Source che ha giusto sopra la manopolona. Appare la scritta "learn" sul display. Ora basta premere il tasto Volume + sul telecomando del HTL4110 e poi il tasto volume + sul telecomando del TV. Se tutto va bene, appare la scritta OK sul display. Ripetere per ogni altro tasto che si vuole programmare.E' possibile usare sia il collegamento HDMi ARC ( preferibile se il proprio televisore ne è provvisto) oppure il classico ottico-coassiale: in entrambi i casi basta collegare semplicemente TV e Soundstage ed il gioco è fatto!!!In merito alle prestazioni del sistema all-in-one, si rimane piacevolmente sorpresi:qualità audio di buon livello, che non conosce particolari debolezze, nemmeno ad alti volumi. I bassi sono enfatizzati, ma non esasperati, e gli alti non si fanno sottomettere, riuscendo a distinguere la voce delle persone anche in mezzo alle scene concitate e rumorose, magari con l’equalizzazione dedicata, lasciando comunque corposo anche l’ascolto di musica orchestrale.Il sonoro sorround è forse il punto più variabile, sia a seconda della sorgente audio, che della stanza in cui andrete ad ascoltarlo, e comunque non al pari di altri impianti di qualità superiore (HT 5.1), ma forse era inutile sottolinearlo, perché questi ultimi costano cifre nettamente superiori. La resa sonora è subito un bel passo avanti rispetto al televisore, non manca la potenza e il display frontale permette di avere tutto sotto controllo. I diversi effetti sonori sono ben riscontrabili all’ascolto ma una relativa spiegazione sul manuale non sarebbe stata inutile. Per esempio se le posizioni Warm, Bright e Clear sono abbastanza ovvie per chi conosce la lingua inglese, non altrettanto si può dire per Balanced e soprattutto Personal, che dovrebbe implicare una regolazione fine dell’effetto: ad ogni modo utilizzatele tutte in modo da scegliere quella che più vi aggrada!!! Molto utile anche la regolazione dei toni per adattare la resa alla collocazione del diffusore. Per l’ascolto musicale si può sfruttare il Bluetooth con NFC: basta avvicinare il telefono e il collegamento è fatto. Con la musica la resa sonora è ottima, tanto che vorremmo subito un suono meno concentrato sul diffusore, meno inscatolato e più ampio; qui l’effetto migliore è il Balanced che è appunto molto bilanciato e senza ombra di eccessi in gamma bassa.Un ottimo prodotto che per rapporto prezzo/qualità sbaraglia concorrenti ben più blasonati e che costano cifre nettamente maggiori!!!

Le son est effectivement meilleur que sur la télé (Sony Bravia KDL-50W80), ce qui n'est pas un exploit. Ce n'est pas extraordinaire non plus, mais je n'attendais pas de miracle.En résumé : Beau produit, bonne qualité de fabrication, connectique ultra complète (HDMI, optique, coaxiale, USB, RCA, Mini-Jack, Bluetooth...) ce qui est rare, performant dans sa catégorie, bon placement tarifaire (avec une offre de remboursement promotionnelle jusqu'à fin juin 2014 en plus).Je conseille. Mais c'est une barre de son, pas un home cinéma inutile d'en attendre plus qu'elle ne peut donner.
