Not as noisy as some report, just like a boiling kettle, and a fan. Very effective water production, but you need to have deep pockets for the electricity used or solar. I’m guessing around 80p per litre out our electric rates, but the difference between our tap water and the distilled is worth it for me. Our TDS is just under 300. The distilled water mostly zero, or occasionally 1 or 2. I like this kit, and run at cheaper rates it is fine. Dead easy to use.

After five years of service from my 4 litre CO-Z distilled water maker, it went puff. I'd used it every day for water for our coffee machine and kettle, and saved a fortune on descaler. The increase in size to 6L is much appreciated. If you have a cold room in your house, install your CO-Z in it as it is like a little fan heater and also more effective in the cold when it comes to condensing the water. Anyway, it's free heat if you need it - and a shame to waste it. I've never used the descaler in the unit, and instead use a stainless steel scourer after every run, and it works a treat. It never ceases to amaze me how much dirt and slime and sludge it removes from our "safe drinking water" produced by that super reliable Thames Water firm. The unit is easy to use, quiet to run, cuts out when it's finished - so it's safe, plus it's pretty cheap. The water is passed through an activated charcoal filter to remove all the nasty carcenogenic organic compounds - and these are cheap to replace. The other cost saving is I no longer need the expensive Sage water filters on my Oracle Touch Coffee Machine - and all of this adds up. The unit takes about 3 hours to run, and I use this time to make bread as the spare heat is great for rising and also for boosting sour dough.

This is a brilliant distiller

I used this water distiller daily. I clean it and put it away after every use. It broke after just 2 months. It won’t even switch on. I tried changing the fuse on the plug but it didn’t make any difference (and the fuse wasn’t burned out anyway). I’m quite disgusted, especially because distillers aren’t cheap. Avoid this product!

It’s hard to necessarily get excited about a water distiller. First of all the reason I purchased this. We have VERY hard water where we live and this was destroying my coffee machine and also affecting the taste. I wanted to try making my own coffee water, starting with distilled water. So here we are. First of all, this thing is BIG! I was hoping it would fit on the counter top with the rest of the appliances like the kettle and microwave, but it’s twice the size. It’s more of a utility room type of item. It’s easy enough to use. But after one use, you see all of the deposits that were in the water in the bottom of the tank. These are actually quite difficult to remove after even one use. It does come with some chemicals to help clean this, but I think some stronger stuff I required here. I measured the PPM of the water out and it measures 0, so this works extremely well. It does make noise when in use, like a loud kettle (another reason why being placed in a utility room would be good). It takes about 3 hours to produce (I think it’s 6 litres) of distilled water. The glass jug is thin but does the job. Overall a satisfied purchase

Product is just as described. It saves us from the hard water, calcium and lime deposits. It then saves our kidneys to not make them work harder and prevents from kidney stones. It has a digital display, looks good and came in a reasonable price.

I have been using this distiller for two winter seasons. It works great. I made a list of pros and cons based on my needs and experience. I use this distiller to make drinking water, ice, water for a small one gallon cool mist humidifier, and I use it to mist my plants. I make two gallons per day during the cold seasons. PROS: + The carafe is solid plastic, strong and lightweight. It has a large pour opening. Use a funnel when you pour into another container. It actually pours decently. + The distiller is cool to the touch on the outside while in use. + Water is dispensed room temperature warm. No burn risk. + Includes descaler, extra carbon filters, and a short silicone tube. + Carbon filter is still good after one month or 60 gallons of water. I change it once a month. Easy. + While in use it keeps my garage warm enough to work on my projects during the winter in southern NM. + Easy to clean. Rinse out the distiller and wipe it down and wipe down the inside of the top piece and in between the silicone seals. Let it air dry for a few minutes. + Included descaler works wonders. I descaled the distiller for the first time and I am impressed with the results. I intentionally let it get some buildup of deposits and gunk just to test it. It’s good. Just follow the instructions. I also run one cup of straight distilled white vinegar just to clean the inside tubing of the top piece. CONS: - Takes up space, no more than the area of two gallon jugs. No worries in my garage. - Slightly noisy fan. Tolerable. - Messy inside without a countdown timer. Invest in one. Trust me. Less cleaning and it will prolong the life of the distiller. I purchased a countdown timer for my distiller and set it to turn off before the pot is empty. The time depends on the temperature of the water and the ambient room temperature. E.g., (Cold water on a cold night is 3hr 45min so you may or may not distill one full gallon). Not a big deal. It will take a trial run to dial in your timer. This prevents burning sludge and leftover nasty residue at the bottom of the pot. It also makes cleaning quicker and easier. A small investment to save lots of time. In conclusion I give this distiller two thumbs up. Through my research I found most of the distillers are the same but with a different brand name stamped on it.

I've been thinking of getting one of these distillers since I use a CPAP and although distilled water isn't hard to find, might save some money and convenience by making my own. This unit is a bit bigger than I thought, the photos are misleading. I read the review and most seemed to be positive. Upon unpacking and putting the unit together, I came across a package of extra charcoal filters and a 4' plastic tube. The tube isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions and I couldn't see any place where it would go. The photo included is the tube. The unit has a fan that runs so it isn't silent, but not super noisy either. I ran one whole tank load which took about 4 hours total, and the unit shut itself off. I did turn it off and try to open the top to see how much water was left in the tank...BIG MISTAKE! There isn't a handle to lift the top by, so I ended up burning myself from the steam coming up. Should have worn oven mits. I was concerned because another reviewer mentioned that running the distiller till it completely shut off (boiled all the water in the tank till it was dry) would leave residue in the bottom, like running a coffee maker or hot water kettle a bunch of times. Anyway, after my mistake I decided to see if the unit would shut off, which it did. There was scaling on the bottom and discoloration. After it cooled off, I pour some white vinegar into it, let that sit for a for minutes, then scrubbed the bottom with a medium brush. The scaling and discoloration came right off, so that will be my procedure from now on, I only use this for my CPAP so I won't be running it constantly. All in all, seems to be a good investment, time will tell . Side note: I sent the company an email asking what the little tube was for, they wrote back telling me to give them all the info to prove I had actually bought the item from a distributor before they would even consider answer my question. Really weird reply when I wasn't complaining about the unit, just asking what a part was for.

I've had this in use for about four years without problems. We have extremely hard water, so I splash a little vinegar in the bottom after each use and that keeps it clean quite easily. I suppose that cuts down on the cost-effectiveness, but I still like having freshly-distilled water on hand for a humidifier, C-pap, and an ice-maker. Ice from distilled water tastes terrific. The size is decent as is the water capacity. It takes about 4 hours to do a gallon. I run that much every other day. Since the time I purchased the unit, I've become far more aware of micro plastics contaminating our food and water. So, had I to do it again, I would purchase one with a glass container. That's why I gave it four stars instead of five. (I give four stars when I find something works fine but doesn't exactly wow me.) If I could give it 4.5, I would. It functions well and I've had four years of use and counting. Not bad.

We've had this four months, and we've been good about cleaning it when the bottom starts to look grimy. Easy to clean; most of the time, soaking it with the included crystals followed by a quick wipe is enough. If I think it may be building up a coating, I use a soft plastic scrub pad to gently remove the gunk. I suspect this will hold up for years, as the stainless steel tank should be able to withstand a hgood scrubbing if it gets to the point of needing it. We used it a lot in the winter, both for my CPAP and for a vaporizer when the air got dry. We placed it in our sunroom during the winter, to take advantage of the little heat it gives off in a room that gets a little cooler than the rest of the house. Now it's in the basement, where a little heat isn't going to affect the air conditioned upstairs. It's already paid for itself. I suspect the more expensive models are easier to refill; this one involves disconnecting and removing the top to refill the base. Even that wouldn't be much work if you leave it on the counter near the sink, but fot the price, I don't mind walking it a few extra feet to get pure, distilled water for almost no money!
