David Webb was one of the most famous jewelers in the 1970's. He produced exquisite works of art in his jewelry but did not become really famous until he made his animal series. It has been copied many times by costume jewelers although his was made with real 18k gold and enamel done the old fashioned way (as in the Faberge way from many years ago) This book is beautifully produced with large, perfect photos of his most famous pieces as well as many of his most famous clients which included people like Jackie O and other beauties from the past. If you love fine jewelry, I would say this is a definite choice for any collection.

I pre-ordered this book because I adore David Webb jewelry. There are lots of books out there about other jewelers, but I couldn't find much on Webb, so I ordered this sight unseen. I was not disappointed. There is plenty of written information, but also plenty of wonderful photos. Just the right balance. There was some biographical info about Mr. Webb, which I was grateful to see since there is so little information on him. All in all, a wonderful book.

Beautiful Book. History of a jewelry designer legend, David Webb. Everyone interested in design should read about the philosophy of this truly brilliant man and the people for whom he designed. There has never been a design craftsman so wholly American since perhaps Paul Revere. Americans should be proud of the legacy David Webb left for them in his work, his design and in the words by which he lived. To call him "The Quintessential American Jeweler" is no exaggeration of who he was.

I love this book...David Webb was a true artisan and genius. His talent was was so totally immeasurable. This man's creative genius was flocked to by the ultra rich. They gobbled up his creations almost as quickly as he could produce them them...This book is an awesome representation of David Webb's very best work

Let's start saying I never liked David Webb jewelry until I saw this book. I always thought his jewelry was too big too gaudy to enjoy. But this book great photos and analysis make me change my mind. Now adjectives like bold, strong, powerful come to mind when I see the jewels. And prices keep escalating in auctions so the book is a cheaper alternative to enjoy them!

A spectacularly beautiful book, I enjoyed turning every page to see the next piece of David Webb's art displayed so beautifully. Very informative as well. I am so happy I bought it.

Without a doubt, this is a beautiful book. Beautiful photos and engaging text. Disappointingly, there's no technical information about how the jewels are/were made. Nothing on how his iconic animal bangles are constructed, scant information on his carved gems and zero on the workshop itself. A shame.
