Best. One. YET.
Jack Carr really knows how to get the blood pumping with military-grade action, while still developing a great plot around political scenarios that aren’t too far from reality.

Nice finale with a caveat …
I really enjoyed the entire series. The author obviously has talent. The fighting scenes are so good you almost feel like you’re in the mix. The author obviously knows both hand to hand combat and gun work; it helps to be a retired SEAL!The only caveat I’ll mention is that some of the interpersonal dialogue and emotional background is excruciatingly long and tedious. I just turned pages when it got monotonous. The best thing about this series Jack Carr has created is the main character. James Reece is a Mitch Rapp, Jack Reacher, Bob Lee Swagger level character you get attached to and will make Jack Carr a staple for readers of this genre. I look forward to more and hope he just gets better and better.

Father and Son
James Reece is spending his days in solitary confinement in a super-max prison in Colorado trying to figure out who has framed him for the assassination of President Christensen. After several months he is released when it is proven that he was not involved. James father left him a key that may implicate who was involved but he does not know what the key unlocks or the contents within or how it might relate to his situation but someone wants him dead. Having known little of his father's history he contacts two former CIA agents going back to the Viet Nam days who befriended his dad.The story goes that his father initially was trying to find the man who killed his friend in the war but his mission turns into one of seeking and compiling data about what happened to many missing POW's and a a shadow group called the Collective that may or may not be real. James believes that this information must be related to what is hidden in the container the key will open. His search uncovers more pieces of the puzzle and begins to explain why people are trying to kill him. Everything becomes clear about the past and the present when he eventually recovers the documents and the danger they pose to the present day.As James follows the threads of the story it becomes apparent that the Collective does in fact still exists and is planning to release a Black Swan that will totally change the geo-political future of the entire world. The plot thickens and comes to an outstanding conclusion although at times James actions become super human and over the top for this reader. This novel scares this reader........what is real and what is fiction and what global secrets my be operative today that will totally change life as we know it!

Carr's latest is the most thrilling!!
IMHO, Jack Carr gives it his all when he writes a book! I have read this entire series but this one outdoes all the others even though I always thought his latest outdid the others. Carr just gets better and better. This book has answered a lot of questions that I have had about the Vietnam War, the Kennedy assassination, New World Order, and the United States- Russia - China obsessions for ultimate power of the world. I understand everything so much better now. Carr has an excellent way of explaining things in a clear manner and makes it interesting. I enjoyed this book so much. It truly was hard to put down. Never a dull moment. WOW! I am pre-ordering Book 7 Red Sky Mourning asap. Read this book today...you will understand today's news headlines a lot better!

Riveting and Scary Good
This book is a MUST read.James finds himself in solitary confinement in the beginning of this book, accused of being involved in the assassination of President Christianson, who was a dear friend. After 3 months he gets a visit from Victor Rodriguez, the Director of the Special Activities Center for the CIA and is set to be released. Alice had helped exonerate him and it was now time to finish was his father had started. Truth and accountability for one’s actions, two things that rarely exist in society today. James manages to help truth to come to light and hold those responsible accountable.

Complete page turner. I read it in a day and a half. James reece is beast. Looking forward to the 2nd season of the terminal list aswell as the Ben Edward's prequel series. I hope this isn't the last time we get to read a James reece book. James and Katie deserve their wedding.

Thrilling
The author creates quite an intricate plot with several (seemingly) independent threads - until they suddenly converge; quite thrilling, but some pages read like a gun show catalog, just without pictures ;-) looking forward to #7 !!!

Very Enjoyable
Only the Dead (James Reece Book 6) by Jack Carr is another excellent and well researched book by this author. Fast paced with plenty of action, twists and turns. I do find that there is a fair bit of advertising in this series, but please do not let that put you off as I am sure that I am not the only one who Googles some of the products he mentions. In fact, I do wonder what my search history looks like sometimes as this author in particular goes into quite a lot of detail of the many different knives, guns, bullets, 4-tube NVGs and other tools that James Reece and others use, that I end up wanting to see what they look like and even read reviews about them! I had no idea 5.11 Tactical did luggage, and I certainly would love to try the Patriot3 Jetboots, though I would think they'll be out of my price range! Perhaps bizarrely, the ads - if that is what they are - can be quite interesting and I certainly look forward to reading more in this series. There is one thing I have to mention and as it is not part of the book, it really should not put you off reading it, but if there are awards for writing the longest Acknowledgement section in fiction, I think Jack Carr certainly has nire than a good chance of winning. I normally enjoy reading the acknowledgements and have even highlighted parts of them (such as in Kill For Me Kill For You by Steve Cavanagh) but I have never been able to finish reading Jack's as that section is sooooooooo, soooooo long! On the flip side, it is of course very nice that Jack wants to thank everyone who has helped, but... :-)
