Coleman 4/6/8/10 Person Skydome Dark Room Tent with Rainfly, 5 Minute Setup, Blocks 90% of Sunlight, 20% More Headroom Than Traditional Tents

We took the 8P dark tent. Used it for a summer night at the beach. The darkness is important to sleep well. The zipper quality is robust, easy installation and repacking, but you need two persons for that. fits a family of 5 with kids. Ventilated and keeps the temp comfortable at night. My previous 6P tent survived for 8 yrs, Let’s see how this one survives the test of time.

I was dubious when I read that the fly could block out 90% of the light, but boy was I wrong. It was like I had stepped into a cave; it was so dark! My kids now actually sleep in when we camp instead of waking up before the crack of dawn once light starts streaming into the tent. It's easy to set up with minimal work. Normally, I struggle to put it away, but not with this one. I love that the directions are sewn inside the bag, so I won't ever lose them. I have yet to have any kind of leakage, and I love how big it is.

Absolutely loved it but I need a bigger size so I returned. The blackout is amazing. If your cover is off obviously that effect disappears but with the covers on it’s nice and dark even in the morning. I don’t think I can ever go back. Super easy to set up. The smaller size is good for one adult that likes to spread out. Ventilation is good but will remove blackout effect. Luckily it was still chilly while I used it so yes to the dark! Didn’t get wet because I was also under a pop up. I always recommend tarps below and above and a small trench around your tarp for rainy times - but I didn’t need it. Price point is high but if you’re able to use the blackout it’s worth it. Quality is fine, I replant day it is the most amazing thing ever but by today’s Coleman standards it held up.

Great tent for the price. Setup only took a few minutes, and the dark room feature really helped us sleep in longer. Highly recommend!

Tent rod bent. Tried to file warranty claim, they don’t even list my tent on Coleman website. Only used it twice. The rod bent when the tent was up and it was windy. Keep in mind it wasn’t even 30mph wind

The was a hole in the floor material. Coleman customer service was not helpful. Amazon more so. It does live up to the name of a blackout tent. Wish it had more ventilation from a rear window access in the rain fly. Stakes are sturdy. It would be nice if the storage bag was a tad bigger. No one can repackage a tent to fit exactly how it came. Setup took a few longer than 5 minutes. Having 2 pairs of hands does help. Getting through Amazon prime day and added Amazon $upport made up for the hole in the base material of the tent. Would be great if Coleman supplied a patch at no extra charge either to remedy the problem or just send with the tent.

A blackout tent is exactly what we needed to get our toddler to take naps and sleep past 5am while camping. Coleman is a reputable brand and we appreciate that they offer a Pfas Free option. While I was able to set up the tent by myself I found it pretty challenging and the job went much faster with a partner the next time we pitched it. Take down is easy and the bag has a zipper to expand if you can't quite get it rolled as small as it was out of the factory. I will say that technically some light gets through on the bottom third or so of the tent. The top is all mesh so the rain fly is really what keeps everything dark, but when you properly stake the rain fly the way it flares for ventilation does let some light in. We camped in a coastal area that was very wet (moisture dripping from the air like rain) and we stayed dry all night. There was no noticeable condensation inside in the morning so it was well ventilated. We haven't tried this in a hot climate yet so I can't speak to whether it stays cool or not. All in all the tent was definitely much darker than any other tent we have ever tried, and the quality was what you'd expect from a brand like Coleman. We are looking forward to many more years of family camping trips with this tent.

I havre used this tent a lot. I am on my second one. main complaints first - its wind tolerance is barely what they say. it has to be perfectly pitched with every single line perfectly tied down. fair enough. I had a rod crack from moderate gusts though. it's just a bad tent to pitch if there isn't anything to block the wind. the whole thing flexes in an exaggerated way. its surprising it doesn't break at lower gusts like 20 mph second ... t just breaks down over time I had it under a tree fire a few months in central Texas (march thru June) it was pretty well sheltered from elements and midday sun I used it on a few drips last summer and by the fall it was easily tearing. similar to clothing that becomes threadbare. I got a few tears in perfectly straight lines I did get a new one. I like the design. I love being able to take the fly off and sunbathe. I did get the warranty on the new tent.
