Direct connect by plug.
Small, out of the way, moves the hot air from ceiling in room with gas logs to other area. I added an in-line switch close to fan so I didn't have to unplug it to cut off. Is noisy, not whisper quiet.

One hour!
Had one almost exactly like it for two years. It ran almost non stop in the winter months. When it finally died, I ordered this one. It ran for an hour and I actually heard the motor blow. Garbage!!!

I expected a much quieter fan. This one has an annoying sound at full speed. I tried a speed reducer, but the sound is still unacceptable.
