Saved me from a bad battery I had no idea !!!±
I've always wanted to buy a battery testing tool. I just never got around to doing it. But am i glad that I bought this one? Because upon I'm testing my car's battery. came to find out. The state of charge was 100%, but the state of health was only 6%. And also, my battery has a bad cell And luckily, enough, i bought this tool in used it. Prior to my 3 year warranty, being up, so I was able to take my battery back to Costco, and get it replaced before it went bad on me. And before the warranty was no longer active, it's super easy to use once again. The instruction manual is 10 out of 10 all the tools from this company. The instruction manuals are The best I've ever read honestly. I'm not just seeing that build parties. Great, only thing I will say the only complaint I have is that it doesn't come with any type of carrying case. And even if it was just a small leather pouch or a, you know, Velcro strap pouch, anything just to story, you know? I feel like any a tool like this needs some type of pouch or something to go into to put away. That's the only thing I have bad to say about it. Other than that, the charging test works great. Also, the range better and I do like how you can test the battery, whether it's on your car or off your car and get good results. And it's really cool because it shows, you know how much battery health your life hat. What battery has left that way? You know whether or not it's starting to go bad or whatnot, and yeah, it's just really super simple, easy to use. Can I recommend it to any everybody shopping for a battery tester hmm, you can also check the cranking test. You have your battery which will tell you whether or not your starter is good. And then there's the charging test also, what's pretty neat? Is there's actually a wave for mode? So you could see any type of ripples or anything, you know, going on funky. Especially when you start your car and then yeah. You're able to see what kind of wave form it has. If it's steady or not spikes or drops in your power source, you can test pretty much any type of battery. With this thing, a regular lead battery AGM, flat plate battery, an AGM spiral battery and a gel battery able to detect the dead battery. A bad battery. Also, you can save your recorded data. You know, if you want to show a customer or whatever it does have that option. You could save the wave form, or you know, save the entire test or Whatever and you can print it out. To your customer or your friend or whoever can do take a copy? And take it, see what you're actually doing, and what's going on with their battery. One last thing from the wave form. You know, your vehicle voltage analysis, basically you're going to have your discharge voltage around 12 V. That's before you run your key or your Ignition. Then you have your starting voltage, your Ignition voltage. And then after that, once your car is started, then it goes to your charging voltage, and all 3 of these should differ, and the waveform helps you see where you're at and yeah. If you know the battery's good or your charging system, your starting system where it might be a little weak, you just have to find out what your car's are. Normal specs are and kind of compare them.Anyways, this company is great to customer services.I want to see pretty awesome 5 stars best bang for you buck battery tester

AFFORDABLE, compact, accurate, quality tester with many features! Easy to use.
The shipping of this tester was really fast, received tester in 3 days to Hawaii. It came in a box and the box was packed well to prevent damage. Battery tester's quality is excellent! The tester is thick plastic, the cord does not retain memory when bending, and the battery clip open wide to make sure you have a good connection. The price of this tester is awesome!! It has many features for it's super low price. I have bought a lot of meters and testers in the past. Some only check voltage, a few is a percentage and voltage meter, and usually the load tester is separate. I would carry at least 3 meters to check voltage, load, and percentage. This BT500 can do all those tests and more. It is very simple to set up by connecting the red clip to the positive post and then the black clip to the negative post on your battery. It turns on and the displays show you your options. There are 3 lights to show you off hand your batteries condition. Green is good, yellow means you need to charge, and red is charge and if it can't be charged, it is time to get a new battery. You can verify the lights by going to the testing options. The menu is easy to follow. It will ask you 12 or 24 volts, what type of battery, and the cold cranking amps. The label on the battery has all this information. This tester will tell you the volts, amps, state of health, state of charge, and provide you with a waveform. You can have a tester that tells you your battery has 12 volts but that is meaning less. You need to put a load on the battery and if you have a weak battery with less then 10.5 volts, your car will have a hard time starting if it starts at all. the BT500 tester will also indicate how much your alternator is putting out. You usually need around 13 to 15 volts for your battery to be recharged. I really do not have anything negative to say about the tester itself because it is accurate, durable, and it does everything the company says it does. Very easy to use and very compact. Two things that does not affect my rating because it is not negative. One, I wish it came with a little plastic carrying case, but that is no problem because you can always find one. Two I wish it was touchscreen and that is not a problem because the buttons are marked clearly and is very easy to use. I have tried this tester on my boat, riding mower, motorcycles, and cars and trucks. What I found out on my outboard motor is that the motor has no rectifiers and parts to recharge the battery, and my riding mower had the ability to recharge the battery except when I flipped the mower over it lost its ability to recharge. Now I know exactly how long my boat battery will last before I leave the dock. Being stranded on the ocean due to a dead battery is no fun. All this time I thought my boat battery was being recharged when using the boat. This tester may have saved me from being stranded with a dead battery. I do not think this tester is waterproof so if you take it on your boat, make sure to keep it dry. I am impressed with all the features this tester has and what it can do.

Simple Setup, Clear Results — Great Battery Tester for New and Old Vehicles
I picked up the VDIAGTOOL BT500 to check the health of several vehicles in my garage and found the whole process easy and clear. I used it on three different rigs: a 2009 Toyota (passenger SUV), a 2021 Toyota (offroad SUV), and a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. Across all three, the tester performed exactly as expected. What I liked: The setup was straightforward: clip red to the positive, black to the negative terminal, pick the correct voltage/battery type in the menu, and go. The manual confirms support for 6V/12V/24V batteries and vehicles from motorcycles to trucks. The display is readable — large enough font, intuitive menu system, and it gives a clear verdict rather than making you interpret cryptic numbers. On all cars I tested, the results were clear (all had good batteries and all tests indicated such). Compatibility was excellent, testing all three vehicles with batteries and systems of different vintages. The alternator / charging system function is a nice bonus. The manual explicitly mentions cranking test and charging test in addition to battery load test. Build: It felt solid, the clips had good grip, and the menu/screen felt polished rather than the cheap plastic gimmick that many “budget” testers are. While the menu is intuitive, you still need to select the correct battery type (flooded, AGM, etc) and voltage (6/12/24V) or you may get inaccurate results. The manual emphasizes this. On the older Jeep, the engine bay space was tight and hooking up the clamps required some maneuvering; so even though the unit is easy to use, vehicle access can still slow things down. This tester is designed for 6-24 V lead acid type batteries (flooded, AGM, GEL, EFB) and not for lithium-type or golf cart batteries. If you have a newer EV or a specialist battery, this unit may not be appropriate. Final verdict: If you want a reliable, easy-to-read, and fairly professional battery/charging system tester, the VDIAGTOOL BT500 will work. I used it across cars of different vintage, condition, and complexity—and it performed without hiccups. Because it covers 6V/12V/24V systems it also has good future-proofing (for example trailers, ATVs, etc). Given its versatility and clarity of results, I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend it — just be sure to follow the instructions (select correct battery type/voltage, clamp securely, etc) for best results.

Easy to use, simple affordable
Features are all most DIYers will need, would like to see a crank test in motorcycle mode. Functionality is good, everything seems to work spot on to what I expected and accurate. Ease of use is right on the money, buttons have an obvious feel and audible click to them. No battery, must be plugged in with the usb cord or hooked to a battery. USB offers upload and print features. As far as value for the money, I’d say that depends on the user, it’s in an acceptable range for most. The unit has a really bright backlight or interior light? As you can see in the pictures, seems excessive especially at night. Build quality seems toyish, the backlight, the weight and feel seems like it may not last in a mechanics environment for long. The clips seem ok, but on the small side for what I prefer like clips designed for a hobbyist.

Great DIY Battery Tester!
This is a great tool to have in your bag to quickly diagnose the state of your battery which I have used on multiples cars. Quality battery clamps with alligator teeth on one side for good grip and a good length cable. There is even a quick test button, one click to instantly get a reading on your battery. This is super handy to grab a quick state of health on your battery and the feature I use most of the time. The display is very bright and easy to read at most angles. In addition it has an LED indicator for a quick visual of Good (green), Charge (yellow), or Poor (red). In addition you can go into the vehicle mode to do additional tests such as Battery test, Cranking test, and Charging test. Just follow the steps on the screen and it easily walks you through the process. The Battery test will give you detailed information on the State of health as well as the State of charge. In addition it will show you current voltage as well as the cold cranking amps compared to the factory standard on your battery. The results are given as to whether the battery is good, good but needs charging, replace, bad cell, or charge retest. Glad I had this tool because it let me know that my truck battery is failing and says replace, which keeps me prepared! The Cranking test will show you detailed data when you crank the car following the prompt but mostly you are looking for Normal or Low for the result. The Charging test is a little hard depending on your battery placement since you have to rev the engine but I was able to do it by myself with one of my cars. I do not have a motor cycle so was not able to test that feature but I am sure it will be helpful to those where that is a part of their fleet. You can do both in vehicle and out is vehicle battery testing which is helpful. The waveform feature gives you a graph display of visual dips in the ignition and charging states as well as offering a quick button for this feature as well. Additional features that come with this device are system screen test and button test as well as a easy to read manual. Provides easy review of recent battery test and wave form data as well as printing the results if maybe you need to give it to a neighbor. Plus it gives you a usb port for updating the software on the unit for feature improvements. Great Tool to prevent you from not being aware of a failing battery and leaving yourself stranded. The is also a Great company with exceptional support and quick to get back to you if you have any issues or need help! Highly recommend!!

This Tool Will Pay For Itself
If you've ever been stranded with a dead battery, you know what an inconvenience it is. For less than the cost of an emergency tow, this tool will help to prevent that from ever happening to you, or a loved one. It's easy to use, so anyone can operate it. While I've got an old style carbon pile battery tester that places a resistive load on the battery and heats up, this device is completely electronic. Not only does it check for the proper voltage, it also tests the internal resistance of the battery, which is important. As a battery ages, resistance increases, which will eventually cause the battery to lose the ability to maintain a full charge. Periodic testing of a battery with this tool will let you know when the increasing resistance is becoming a problem so that you can replace it before it fails completely. I recently experienced this first hand with a battery that had always maintained a good voltage. One day I started my car with no issues, drove several miles, and parked it for a few minutes. When I tried to restart it, the engine wouldn't turn over. The battery had failed so completely, even my booster pack was unable to start the car. A total failure like this is pretty rare, but if I had this tool a year ago, I would have been able see that the resistance was becoming too high and replaced the battery before it failed. This tool can also perform a cranking test on the starter and a charging test on the alternator. In the cranking test, it checks for abnormal current draw which would indicate a starter that is getting worn. In the charging system test, it detects abnormally high or low voltage from the alternator. When I tested my car, it indicated that the charging system was slightly high at 14.77 volts. It also checks for abnormal AC voltage ripple from the alternator which could indicate a failed rectifier diode, a bad stator winding, or a problem with either the positive alternator cable or a poor ground. Excessive ripple can cause random problems with the dash instruments as well as electronic control modules, so it's important to be able to rule that out if you're troubleshooting weird electrical problems. Another useful feature is the Waveform function. This allows you to view the battery voltage over time as you would with an oscilloscope. In the video and screen shot, I demonstrate what the waveform looks like starting my car. You can save up to two waveforms in the device and review them onscreen or you can upload them to a PC using the free BT500 software available on the manufacturer's website. The software also allows you to print the waveform or the results of the battery test as well as updating the BT500's firmware. Several other features that I appreciate are: The color screen is bright and easy to see in daylight. The clamps feel solid and don't have excess play. There is a Velcro strap that aids in keeping the cables contained during storage. I really like this tool and recommend it to anyone who has a car. It's easy to use for persons of all skill levels. The customer service is excellent as well. I had several questions that were answered by email quickly and in a competent manner.

Good tester it saves you time
I am old school. I am used to grabbing a multimeter and checking the voltage of a battery and determining by the results and date on the battery if the battery was good or not. Yeah sometimes I may have cut the life of a battery short and spent money on a new battery that I could have kept in my wallet. The BT500 changed all of that in a matter of seconds. When I would charge my battery and test it or not charge it for the test, the tester would provide me with pretty accurate numbers. It would confirm that a charged battery was charged and state of health was good or if I tested the uncharged battery the tester would confirm that the battery needed charge but overall health of the battery was good. My multimeter doesn't do that without multiple different tests I would have to take to attempt to get the SOH result that the BT500 would give me much faster. Not only is the test results simple to get, it's easy to use to get the answers you need. One of my preferences would be to provide the unit with extension cables or just much longer cables. Some of the tests require you to turn on lights for 10 seconds or raise your RPM's for a small amount of time during testing so that you can get an accurate result. The problem I had is that I work solo so the amount of time it takes me to go into the cab of the car to do one of those requests for the tests cuts close to half the amount of time recommended if not 90%of the time recommended for an accurate test result. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for people with a helper A major plus for me though since I do work solo is that when I did set the tester down on the platform near the battery so I could turn on the lights or raise the RPM's for a test I left the unit unattended (I would not recommend following my example) so it fell a couple of times but it did not damage the unit or cause an interruption of the test. It's a very durable unit The functionality of the unit makes each test easy to perform. The functionality of the buttons and instructions the unit provides makes testing easy even on my first use without reading the user manual provided. ( I recommend you read the user manual first; it does help with knowing what is going to be asked for during the tests. Plus explains abbreviations ect.). Value for money: the amount of money I saved from purchasing a new battery that I may not have needed to purchase makes the BT500 very affordable and worth every dime. I tested old batteries and different cars that had different batteries and the accuracy was very good. I would determine how good a battery was by the date it was made as marked by the manufacturer, the automobile the battery was in, yr, model, and accessories ect. And the unit gave results well within what my determinations/guesses were. I have around 35yrs of experience of working on vehicles and the unit gave results that I would have used while troubleshooting an electrical issue. Testing capabilities are important parts of the electrical systems: Battery state of health and charge, Charging test for your alternator/generator and CCA which will determine if the battery is strong enough to continue to start your vehicle or if the battery is wearing down and might need to be replaced but a vital part of the CCA test is the function of your starter. The starter gives a bad result then it could be the problem with the electrical system and the draining of your battery. That detail is one of my favorites This tester makes it easier to jump in the car to go help a friend or one of your kids that may be having issues on the road. It gives you quick results that can narrow down your issues
