A Great Carplay Screen for Older Vehicles
I have had this Apple Carplay Screen for a few months now, and after a bit of research and testing, I'm impressed by its capabilities. It's a great device for older vehicles, especially if you're looking for a reliable and affordable option.Setup and Installation:The setup process was smooth, especially for my 2014 SUV. The unit came with power, an aux cable, a backup camera, two mounting methods, and an instruction manual. Pairing it with my iPhone was a breeze, and the device synced instantly. The only downside was the mounting issue, which required some creativity to get it on without causing any damage.Key Features:• 7" Screen: The size is just right for readability, and it doesn't clutter the dashboard.• Compatibility: It works well with most vehicles, including older ones, making it a practical choice.• Carplay Features: The device offers Carplay, navigation, video recording, and more, making it versatile.• Additional Capabilities: It includes Bluetooth voice control, audio recording, and real-time GPS navigation, enhancing the driving experience.Pros:• The device is easy to set up and works seamlessly with multiple devices.• The 7-inch screen provides excellent visibility without distractions.Cons:• Mounting Issue: I couldn't mount it properly, requiring a suction cup or adhesive mount, which took some effort.• Audio Quality: While the speakers are decent, the audio feels a bit tinny, and the back-up camera could be easier with a different mount.Overall, this is a fantastic device. The setup was smooth, and the features make it a valuable addition to older vehicles. The only issue was the mounting challenge, but I resolved it with some creativity. The product is well-made, and the reviews align well with my expectations, so l highly recommend it.

Great way to add a large screen backup camera with car play features to an older vehicle
This is a great upgrade for an older car that doesn't have the room in the dash for a larger screen. I got it primarily for the back up camera functionality but the car play works well too. It was easy to setup and using it is easy as well. Just have to manage getting all the cables run.

Lots of features and decent screen for the price EDIT- 8/8/24
My previous review (below) still reflects my initial results with this display and I did route the backup camera through my SUV and have that feature working great.UNFORTUNATELY - when this gets hot, its starts dropping the CarPlay connection with the phone - so you just lose the navigation or anything else you have up on the display without warning - usually it goes back to the home screen but touching CarPlay again probably will not connect, may bring up a black screen or the connection instructions.Nothing will work correctly with the bluetooth until the display is cooled down - so in Southern California in the summer, this doesn't work and potentially dangerously disconnects you from your navigation in route - and its not a simple restart or even power cycle to fix it -In my case, it would sometimes randomly reconnect briefly before disconnecting again without warning -Disappointed because it was a nice addition to an older (2006) SUV but its not reliable. This is a complicated little display to review well - Working with both Android and iOS, I'm only trying the iOS "half" of the capabilities. This easily connects to the lighter plug in your vehicle and starts right up once power comes on. It's a crisp and fairly bright display.Routing wires to this is probably the single biggest challenge - potentially 3 wires for Aux output, rear view camera and the power cable.Mounting is somewhat easier with two good options - a large self adhesive base plate or a suction cup type mount -The FM output for routing the audio to your radio is dependent on the specific lighter socket adapter they provide - so you can't substitute another USB-C supply if you want to use the FM module. The FM link sounds ok but its not great and its increasingly hard to actually find an open spot in the band to use - but it is easy to set up and works.Even using iOS, there are two modes of connection and some features need WiFi and other use Bluetooth -You can run select apps from your phone on the display but I wan't able to sort out how to shut them down once started - and a weather app imposed itself in place of Google maps for navigation (giving me the weather outlook for my route - which I didn't know it could even do) but not allowing me to display the Google map without shutting off and restarting.Playing audio from your phone does work - but some features were requesting network connection to the internet - even though the phone is connected to the internet? - Wasn't sure exactly what was happening.I am mostly interested in having my navigation display on the dash without having to mount my phone in a holder every time - this part does work well and easily -I had access to my Google saved places and destinations as well as recent trips. It does seem to be using the GPS in the phone - as turning the phone causes the arrow position marker to spin and move - it can jump slightly if you pick up your phone while navigating. The forward facing camera can be adjusted a little to look straight out - its stiff but does move. It's not reversible to face the inside of the car. Night time performance is ok - not great compared to a high end dash cam but daytime is perfectly fine and the resolution is good - though you can choose to record at lower resolutions to save space. The rear view camera is lower resolution but actually a bit more sensitive at night and the guide lines are adjustable for your vehicle - so you can customize the guides to fit you mounting location. On a full size SUV with a swing up back door, it would be a challenge to route the wires - including the wire to the back up lights that triggers the camera to display - so for some vehicles, the second camera may be a challenge but it isn't required for the unit to work. For an older vehicle, especially those with hard to replace factory stereos, this is an easy way to add a nav display. I'm routing the aux out to the stereo so I can also route my phone through the unit to play music - I just haven't mastered the options yet. This meets my expectations for a nav display and I will probably use some of the other functions -as I find them useful.Trying to get every possible option working might reveal some shortcomings but I'm happy with the display.I probably won't try to route the backup camera on my vehicle - but it does work.

Works for the task mostly
It is nice but glitchy and slow to respond. Still a good deal and usefulComes with one flat surface mount, I will not use that.

CarPlay unit
I have a 2012 SUV, and it doesn’t have the bells and whistles that the newer cars have. This system is a great way to update the features in an older vehicle without spending an arm and a leg. Included with the system is the unit itself, power, an Aux cable, a back-up camera, two mounting methods and an instruction manual. It only took a few minutes for my husband to get set up initially and of course some time spent figuring out the features. I have iPhone and CarPlay works great. The speakers are a bit disappointing but since you can pair it different ways, it’s not a huge issue for me.Overall I enjoy this system and all the features it offers at a very reasonable price.
