The tuning knob is reasonably smooth so not too fiddly. Reciever sensitvity is acceptable. The little speaker is sufficient for personal use and maybe a few people to listen to sports or background music outdoors in quiet areas. To expect hifi audio is unrealistic. However, audio is acceptable with headphones. There is a little red 'on' LED on the front panel, which at least confirms the batteries are okay.
